This has been one of the most agreed solutions to the ongoing "flad problem" (see >>3641 → ), and I really think it would work.
The issue off flags has been brought up time and time again, but nothing has been done (or properly discussed) about it. I think giving OPs the option to hide flags on new threads could be a vast improvement, and a look on how threads could operate without flags on the main board.
We can already choose to disable IDs, and that was a great improvement for long-lasting threads.
