Global IDs.
Instead of having just per-thread IDs, every poster's ID would be shared across the entire board. Not the entire 'chan, that's unnecessary, but it'd make identifying shills (especially shill-started threads) oh so much easier.
They wouldn't last forever, of course - after a period of 6-12 hours your ID would get reset.

I appreciate the thought but admin and mods can see IP addresses with posts, so if you suspect someone of being a shill just give us a report and we'll click their IP to see a list of every post

I have thought that it would be useful at 4chan from time to time. One downside is that you have to wait 6-12 hours if you make an ass of yourself before you can post again. Perhaps if it was an option that could be initiated during raid periods and then turned off again if would be nicer on the regulars.
But there is always up and down sides to fixed id on boards. There are time you want to be able to be two persons. Dive into a sea of horsepussy while at the same time have a serious discussion without being called a degenerate.

This makes anything outside of a thread ID to kill samefagging completely unnecessary; and could lead to either/and/or a lesser version of the 'social media' type ego fix tripfags are often about; or a breeding of reluctance to participate as fully or frequently as one might otherwise for various reasons (for instance, in my own case, anxiety issues that interfere with my ability to express myself properly or eloquently). My two pence.
