Global IDs.
Instead of having just per-thread IDs, every poster's ID would be shared across the entire board. Not the entire 'chan, that's unnecessary, but it'd make identifying shills (especially shill-started threads) oh so much easier.
They wouldn't last forever, of course - after a period of 6-12 hours your ID would get reset.
I appreciate the thought but admin and mods can see IP addresses with posts, so if you suspect someone of being a shill just give us a report and we'll click their IP to see a list of every post
if they're a thread startin, big nose havin, penny pinchin, drumpf postin, record correcting, piece of shit shill I'll just delete all threads and ban them
>>262I have thought that it would be useful at 4chan from time to time. One downside is that you have to wait 6-12 hours if you make an ass of yourself before you can post again. Perhaps if it was an option that could be initiated during raid periods and then turned off again if would be nicer on the regulars.
But there is always up and down sides to fixed id on boards. There are time you want to be able to be two persons. Dive into a sea of horsepussy while at the same time have a serious discussion without being called a degenerate.
>>265Wouldn't that give good incentive not to make an ass of yourself? And I can't do that anyway, I have a rare flag. Americans could only benefit from this. You'd have to go looking for identical IDs either way.
And the main problem isn't in the threads - it's in the sublime, single post shills that pop in and out. If we have global IDs, we can point them out everywhere. Finding a shill thread is easy, finding shill posts means digging through two hundred other posts.
>>262Global IDs would help a great deal to identify spammers and shills.
>>262This will not work an ip change is as easy as snapping your fingers
>>272That'd just make them change IP inbetween every post.
Heck, you could implement some deterring factor for that, too, like requiring each new IP to solve a captcha and complete a quiz.
I don't like it
It lessens the anonymity on the board
>>274Then make the reset timer really short. One hour. Enough time to identify a wave of shilling.
>>275how about something like a counter of threads created in the last 12 hours or something?
>>266I can agree. I am in the boat of having a uncommon flag (at least here). But if we ever grew to a big part of this site I would also as Americans want to be able to hide in the masses.
>>273i like the quiz idea but global ID still sounds like shit
>>262>admin and mods can see IP addresses with posts, so if you suspect someone of being a shill just give us a report and we'll click their IP to see a list of every postThis makes anything outside of a thread ID to kill samefagging completely unnecessary; and could lead to either/and/or a lesser version of the 'social media' type ego fix tripfags are often about; or a breeding of reluctance to participate as fully or frequently as one might otherwise for various reasons (for instance, in my own case, anxiety issues that interfere with my ability to express myself properly or eloquently). My two pence.
