>A Democrat's stunning one-vote victory in a hotly contested race for the Virginia House of Delegates this week suddenly became a tie on Wednesday after a three-judge panel ruled that an additional ballot should have been counted for the Republican.
>Now, the winner will be determined "by lot," according to state law, and that could mean pulling a name out of a hat, a coin toss — or drawing straws.

Pic related is the actual contested ballot. The voter clearly voted Republican all the way down the rest of the ticket, so I personally think a reasonable person could infer that the vote was intended for Yancy. Apparently that is also what the court thinks. Anyway, now it all comes down to random chance, which means the seat could go to either the Democrats or the Republicans. If Yancy wins the Virginia House will be in the hands of Republicans 51-49. If Simonds wins it will be split evenly.
