WASHINGTON - More than 300 law enforcement agents conducted a massive gun and drug sting operation Wednesday morning, resulting in the arrest of 28 suspects in the greater Washington D.C. area.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and Explosives and Federal Bureau of Investigation called the sting Operation Tin Panda, and said it began in the spring.
With the assistance of several local law enforcement agencies, authorities say they began investigating members of the Blood gang and their involvement in violent crime, drugs and guns in Northern Virginia.
Officials said the suspects were wanted for their involvement in a slew of crimes, including homicide, malicious wounding, robbery, shootings, and drug and firearms distribution.
Previous search warrants have landed officials drugs, including cocaine, heroin, crystal methamphetamine, THC and marijuana, and more than five dozen firearms. Wednesday’s operation turned up more guns, heroin and other drugs, authorities said.
Officials said the following suspects were arrested on Wednesday:
- Tarvell Vandiver, 29 of Woodbridge, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base
- Jerry McAllister, 42 of Laurel, Maryland Conspiracy to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin
- Rashourn Niles, 37 of Woodbridge, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine
- Chennor Bah, 30 of Woodbridge, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine
- Nasiru Carew, 35 of Dale City, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute marijuana
- Nathaniel Bruce Cobbold, 27 of Woodbridge, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute marijuana
- Jamar Cox, 30 of Hyattsville, Maryland Use and carry of firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime
- Robert Evans, 27 of Woodbridge, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute THC
- Deion Wright, 25 of Alexandria, Virginia Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
- Kelvin Bennett, 27 of Washington, D.C. Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
- Cydrick Delrosario, 58 of Springfield, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine
- Raheem Kelly, 39 of Woodbridge, Virginia Conspiracy to distribute 28 grams or more of cocaine base
- Tayvon Patterson, 24 of Elkridge, Maryland Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
