>>56186http://archive.is/l08hCThese guys mentioned "alt-bronies" in the first line, but it seems that the /mlpol/ merge may have drawn attention to them (they existed before we did, and were likely energized by the merge).
pic related, the one they used for the title
I'll comment further when I have the chance to read the whole thing. >>56186This is actually a pretty interesting article. They reference a lot of /mlpol/ happenings, like the board merge, and Sean Spicer quoting Twilight.
>>56186Oh so this thread can stay up but not mine. Good work mods!
>Lots of them live to troll and like using My Little Pony characters to stir up shit in the same way the alt-right uses Pepe the Frog. Nothing pisses off liberal bronies more than seeing their beloved, wholesome characters dressed in Nazi SS gear. Alt-bronies have also championed their own fan-created characters, including meme-favorite Aryanne, a blonde, blue-eyed pony with a swastika “cutie mark” on her haunch.
>Which brings us back to the whole “Love and Tolerate” thing. You may think that white nationalism is in direct conflict with what the bronies stand for. Many bronies would agree with you; alt-bronies have been banned from message boards and fan-art sites, blocked by other bronies on Twitter, and even denied volunteer positions at conferences for posting pics of Nazi ponies.
>In this way, alt-bronies say it’s actually their leftist herd members who are in violation of the spirit of tolerance. In the same way that the alt-right has advocated for their hate speech being protected under free speech, the alt-bronies don’t care whether they’re being pushed out for espousing retrograde, often harmful views. They just see it as inappropriate exclusion, period.
>“Entry into the fandom isn’t predicated on politics and our ‘membership’ isn’t conditional on your approval,” @Xaekai, another alt-brony, wrote in a Twitter DM. “The fandom is for everyone, and as far as I’m concerned there is no party line to tow. I don’t have to be, or prove, I’m a liberal, 100% LGBTQ-supportive, or think Trump is literally Hitler reincarnate just to be a brony. And that is equality in the truest sense.”
>Their marginalization has radicalized them further and many alt-bronies have befriended members of other “alt” subgroups, including the “anime right” and “alt-furries,” who also say that they’ve been ostracized from groups that are supposed to be inclusive regardless of political beliefs. For a while, these alt groups seemed like a club that only existed on the internet, talking Trump and pissing off liberals. But these interactions aren’t just happening online anymore. Alt-furries have caused uproar in the past year by showing up at conventions in Nazi gear. One furry in particular, who calls himself Foxler Nightfire, has come under scrutiny for wearing a armband with a black paw print in place of a swastika over the arm of his corsac fox costume.
>>56197>And at this year’s Bay Area Brony Spectacular Convention, more confrontation broke out. Every year, bronies descend upon an airport hotel outside of San Francisco to celebrate their love of My Little Pony. It’s normal convention stuff: toy vendors, appearances from voice actors, costume contests. But, this year, something strange happened. The management hired an actor to play a “villain” as part of a running skit throughout the con, and that actor fashioned their character after Trump—mostly by calling to “build a wall.” Some of the bronies seemed to take the joke seriously. Dozens of them showed up in red “Make Equestria Great Again” hats, chanting at one point to “deport the Zebras.” (Zebras, for those of you who aren’t familiar with the series, represent people of color.)>“Their defense is that they are ‘IRL shitposting’ which pretty much means acting like a jerk as a farce,” a staffer at the con, who asked to remain anonymous, wrote in an email. “Several of these people, most of them former friends, are indeed sexist, racist, and transphobic. It’s doubtful to believe some of them are ‘just joking’ when they have displayed bigotry or ignorance before.”>The non-alt-bronies seem to be tired of it. So why haven’t they divided themselves further, retreating into their own political subcultures to get away from the alt-bronies? Or just quit the fandom outright? What’s keeping them together amid political discord?>“The glue holding everything together is the fact that regardless of what your political beliefs are, under normal circumstances, you’d be deemed an outcast by either major group,” says Capper General, pseudonymous brony co-founder of Horse-News.net. (Sorry to bring glue into this, horse lovers. His words, not ours.) >“People call us freaks and masochists. Are you willing to give up on few people who accept you for being fan of cartoon? Is it worth it? Just because you don’t like Trump doesn’t mean a Democrat will like you for who you are if you’re a brony.”>Whatever you think of men who watch My Little Pony, the root of the fandom was genuine: outcasts who came together through the internet to talk about their love of anthropomorphized cartoon horses. Bronies have, until now, been inclusive in a pretty radical way—Redden says that she even knows of people who say My Little Pony and the brony fandom saved them from the brink of suicide. As long as you came into the group with an open heart and willingness to chat about Rarity, you were welcomed.>While alt-bronies are vocal, they still seem to be in the minority: Though Redden knew of plenty of Republican bronies, she had never heard of alt-bronies and was surprised to learn they existed. She said, if anything, she’s observed more diversity at brony events in recent years than ever before.>Still, it’s undeniable that things have turned ugly online and off. So what will win: Love, tolerance, and an influx of new, diverse bronies? Or this wave of white nationalist pony lovers? Only time will tell whether the fandom can ride this one out.Does any of this stuff look familiar to any of you goys?
>>56198There were actually a bunch of hyperlinks in there, so sorry if my wall of greentext just gets in the way...
>>56186Anyway, why did playboy, of all things, write an article on this?
Can I hope to purchase high-res Fireaxe calendars in the future?
>>56198>and an influx of new, diverse broniesThere needs to be an image of a zebra with a machete with the word "you are about to be culturally enriched" at the bottom.
>alt-broniesChrist is that a cringy label. A new one is needed.
>>56201From what I can tell "alt-bronies" existed on twitter for quite a while before the merge. A few of them came here to checkthe place out, but the entire community told them to piss off because they were nufags and were very [rude].
Perhaps amends could be made sometime, but that label makes me sick...
>>56186Just as Aryanne existed before the alt right movement, fringe groups like this will always exist. Their article doesn't really do much except state that fringe groups with politically incorrect views exist in subcultures too.
>>56194I was not here last night when your thread was deleted and you were banned, but I can say that mods were concerned about infiltration and malicious links by inta and associated raiders, and that mods have generally been on edge because of ongoing raids. Please accept this pony and this video in apology.
http://youtu.be/5ypUz1WYens >no mention of /mlpol/
>mentions 4chan /mlp/
I should start lurking on /mlp/ again - this might be hilarious
Playboy should stick to porn, and alt-brony is a cringey af phrase. Also they barely even acknowledged the nationalistic values of the show.
>>56219There is an Aryanne thread on /mlp/ right now
>>56348Since when did they start doing "news" anyway?
What I wanna know is why does fucking Playboy, out of all things, give a shit about right wingers in My Little Pony? Shouldn't they be posting lewd pics or some shit or did (((they))) take over and make it sjw propaganda?
>>56373If Playboy released a pony issue, it might be worth a buy.
>>56373Maybe they're trying to tap into a new market, due to free internet pronz killing their business
>tfw you will live to see Playboy become the largest producer of Nazi pone pronz >>56386>actual playbrony releasesIts tempting but I would probably still not buy it. But it sounds like marvelous idea. It would need very good writers and people good with digital art but if it suceeded...
Imagine reading actual PlayBrony magazine. That was my "only if..." since 2012.
>>56186this article seems largely based on a blog post from an online """newspaper""" ive read about a year ago. guess the original author sold the rights off to playboy. no wonder /mlpol/ was nowhere mentioned there.
>>56425It sounded familiar but can't tell where have I seen it before...
>>56362Playboy has always been doing articles, not necessarily news but serious writing at least. "I just read it for the articles" has been a meme for a reason.
>>56373Yeah, they did go full on SJW a while back, complete with getting rid of nudity and having someone in a hijab on the cover. Supposedly they walked that back, must have realized that didn't work.
GOD DAMN
These fucking "progressives" make me furious.
>Though Redden knew of plenty of Republican bronies, she had never heard of alt-bronies and was surprised to learn they existed.
>She said, if anything, she’s observed more diversity at brony events in recent years than ever before.
>So what will win: Love, tolerance, and an influx of new, diverse bronies?
>Or this wave of white nationalist pony lovers?
For them diversity of thought seems to be fucking cryptonite, they keep proclaiming diversity but only want superficial shit.
>We are so diverse, we have so many trannies, gays, gender non conforming, blacks, yellows, browns, (not whites, we want fewer of those), wymyn, (not males, we want fewer of those).
>Yes we all have the exact same political views, yes we all hate trump, so what, we're still diverse, loving and tolerant!
>you disagree with us? B A N N E D
well, we all know that /mlpol/ was pretty great
>>56198This seems surprisingly well researched and while there's an obvious leftist bias in the oped bits, it's still fairly neutral in the actual information presented. If they'd noted that "Love and Tolerate" was the motto of the /b/-strain but not the /co/-strain and used that as a possible explanation of the sub-cultural divide, I'd have been genuinely impressed.
Obviously, ethno-nationalism is in no way incompatible with LaT, but that's a pretty big redpill for most normies to swallow.
How is it that fucking Playboy does better journalism than most MSM?
Know what would be kek worthy? An anon from /mlpol/ getting an interview with media and unload a can of redpills that the cuck "alt-bronies" would be too scared to unload. Hell, also send out a dump of aryanne oc for good measure. Might get mlp listed a hate symbol by the ADL if the shit storm's big enough.
>>56593At this rate, II wouldn't be surprised if the ADL put /mlpol/ on their list, if someone tipped them about it.
>>56373>>56205Seems like there have been a lot of articles of this on the "alt-right" in general. "Journalists" trying to write investigative pieces on the strange frog-worshiping Nazis and the like.
>>56200>high-res Fireaxe calendarspls yes
>>56577MSM "Journalism" is not about truth, ethics or informations, its about fabricating fake news to push a narrative, lies to put into the docile media consumers cowhead. That, and getting ad revenue.
Playboy makes it money with pornography, so they can report on trivial bullshit nobody really cares about. I am surprised that an adult magazine writes about a political movements in a chilodrens cartoon, to say the least.
I am by no means saying this article is good. this and other versions of it have existed before and all stink of leftism. but perhaps in that regard playboys writers really are somewhat off the chains and can write what they want, since no one really cares or takes them seriously, since they are not the selling point of the magazine.
