I've been using this to learn Portuguese. Its alright still I know I will still need to be around native speakers to get used to the accent. It helps that I already am fluent in Spanish so starting a new language sounds like a challenge I might be willing to take.

Can you translate or give me the gist of what they are saying about it? Are they implying a disk with an Iron Cross on it landed in West Germany in 1979?

Ein Ufobericht der in unsere Hände gelangte, soll nun für sich sprechen. Wahrheit oder Fälschung? Hier der Bericht wörtlich wiedergegeben:

"Samstagabend, ein Raumschiff, eine Untertasse, kommt verhältnißmäßig tief geflogen. Es ist vielleicht etwas schneller als ein Sportflugzeug, gibt aber nur singende Laute von sich. Es fliegt in meine Richtung. Ich habe noch Zeit es zu photographieren als es über mich hinwegfliegt. Es hat unten drei Runde Auswüche und in der Mitte einen dunkelblauen Punkt. Ich kann ein Hakenkreuz mit spitzen Ecken erkennen.

Das ganze Raumschiff ist ziemlich groß und macht irgendwie einen beängstigenden Eindruck. Es sieht sehr fremdartig aus. Es fliegt ruhig weiter. Ich kann dann sehen, dass es irgendwo tiefer geht. Die Richtung merke ich mir. Es ist sowieso meine Richtung, in die ich muss. In der Umgebung sind nur Betriebe, wo jetzt kein Mensch ist. Hinter eine Mauer steht das Raumschiff in der Dämmerung, aber es ist alles noch gut zu erkennen.

Die drei Auswüchse an der Unterseite sind mit Rollen versehen, die untergelegt worden sind wie es aussieht. Der Lastwagen mit dem Kran macht etwas im Huntergrund was sich nicht erkennen lässt. Es sind nur zwei Mann zu sehen. Einer unter dem Raumschiff und einer oben auf dem Dach, wo eine Luke sein muss, denn er ist darin verschwunden. Alles ist hier sehr still. Auf dem Raumschiff ist ein Kreuz das aussieht wie ein Wehrmachtszeichen im negativ. Fenster hat das Raumschiff keine, aber zwei versetzte Runde Öffnungen vor denen vielleicht ein Gitter ist, aber kein Glas.

Die Untertassenscheibe hat an den Rändern merkwürdige Platten, die ein bischen wie Schaufeln von Turbinenrädern aussehen, aber etwas anderes sein müssen. Drei drei Auswüchse unten und das ähnlichen aussehende Gebilde ganz oben haben Rohre, die wie Geschütze aussehen. Für Antennen sind sie viel zu dick. Das Raumschiff hat einen Durchmesser von schätzungsweise zwischen 18 und 20 Metern. Es wirkt bedrohlich. Außer dem Lastwagen stand abseits noch ein NSU RO80 mit Solinger Nummer. Dann kam noch ein grüner VW und die Beobachtung konnte nicht mehr fortgesetzt werden."

The three bumps on the lower side are equippes with Wheels, who have been laid under it as it seems. The truck with the crane in the background is doing something I can not tell. There are 2 men. One under the ship and another one on the roof. There must be a hatch there, since he disappeared. Everything is very silent around here. On the saucer is a cross that looks like inverted Wehrmacht Insignia. The ship does not have any windoes, but two spaced out openings (maybe covered with wire), but not with glass.

On the edges the saucer has some kind of strange plates, that looks like wheels from a turbing, but have to be something else. The three bumps and the similar looking structure on top have pipes that looks like artillery weapons. They are way too thick for antenneaes. In total, the ship has a size of about 18 to 20 Meters. It looks threatening. Besides the Truck with the crane stands another car with a registration plate from Solingen (another city in the area). The secret observation had to be aborted when a green Volkswagen drove into the area."

As far as I know most (if not all) Military Insignia of the Wehrmacht have not been outlawed in Germany and many are still in use or only slightly changed.

I was trying to learn french for a while but it seems like a waste of time given what's happening to europe, sorry to blackpill but if I wanted to speak to germans I'd be better off learning arabic at this rate so long as they keep electing angela merkle

If you must learn a new language, and your native language is English, I would definitely not recommend anything as alien as an oriental langauge, or even Russian. They are just so different as to make the process very difficult. Spanish is also the most useful second language for an English speaker to know because of the number of spanish speakers in the United States.

According to the Department of Defense's classification of the difficulty of learning languages, ranking difficulty of learning the language for a native English speaker from category I - the easiest - to Category IV - the hardest. Romance langauges are in category I, German is in Category II (alongside Indonesian for some reason), and the Oriental languages are category IV. Essentially always Romance languages are the easiest to learn alongside the Germanic languages

Quick update on the "inverted Wehrmacht Insignia".

From 1956 the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) used a flanged Iron Cross style insignia. -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_Air_Force

Which makes the alleged Flying Disk sighting in 1979 marked with a Nazi-era Wehrmacht insignia 34 years out of date and after their defeat. No wonder this lead to a flurry of activity and speculation.

I've been causally working on my German for about two years now with Duolingo. I know a lot of words and I can speak simple sentences, but I feel like my improvment has stalled. Any advice?
