On June 18th Kent Weller from the General Google Counsel of Europe published an online paper in which he presented a 4 Point Plan to get an iron grip around the (((controversial))) media. This Plan will serve as a guideline for upcoming global changes to the Videoplatform in the near future. The official reason for this is security, but it is clear this tool will be used to agitate against Antimarxist Wrongthink.
The Plan includes, but is not limited to the following actions:
- Mainstream Media channels will get pushed more
- News and Current event reports that are not reported by Mainstream Media will be considered "Fake News"
- Certain topics can only be reported by MSM, this includes Islam in general and Terror Attacks
- Certain topics will only be viewable in adult mode WITH an account
- Channels will be flagged for controversial content, offensive content or hate speech
- Controversial content (aka content that is not pro hard left - moderate left) will not show up in the recommended videos anymore
- Controversial channels or videos will be hidden, demonetized or deleted
- Youtube will forcefully implement videos that counter controversial content
(example: If you watch a skeptic channel you may end up seeing a feminist video)
In essence, (YOU) can no longer be trusted to know what you want because you are potentially a dangerous Extremist, therefore Youtube now decides what you will want, and you will watch it. End of discussion.
Guess its finally time to move to another video platform for good that has less George Orwell to it.

Already happened with their latest "recommended" and "related" video picker code. Currently, it is only optimizing for popularity and needs policing, but it can be geared towards promoting their favorite goodthink.
The normies and the content creators won't leave. There needs to be a way to make youtube sink before it sets itself on fire and everyone burns to death.

the mess that is youtube is why i support vidme (that is: if people will post content and stop making videos about how great vidme is)

Ideally vidme (or someone else) would find some niche to compete in and start to attract video producers. Maybe that niche could be people who want to talk politics, since you can never be sure whether you'll be demonitized by YT if you get big enough and have the wrong opinions.
In the long term we'll probably have some sort of distributed peer-to-peer network for content. There's enough spare capacity on people's hard drives and I don't think any non-porn video sites are making any money, sooner or later they'll have to change or disappear.
