>>370641It won’t die in a month, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they do die out before the next decade begins. It was inevitable since they killed mlp with G5, forming not just a repulsive series, but repulsive merchandise. Their other brands aren’t pulling weight either. The trannyformers show was not promoted even in a time where everyone freely promotes such shit. GI Joe is basically cancer to their values. D&D has been losing money despite the success of Baldur’s Gate, causing lay offs to the game studio as well as their D&D production. Their recent work demands inclusive retcons of the whole history of their games means money spent redesigning, also leading to scandal in trying to bypass their deadlines and pitiful budget by using AI art and stolen copyright material.
They are boxed in. If they back out of these paths now, they will be hated by the few people that are left supporting them and allowing the executives to cash out. They are probably going to ride off of a zombie existence to squeeze as much money as is left before they abandon ship.
>>370642>D&D has been losing moneyHow can it be losing money? They've hardly invested anything into it. They only have like 6 full time writers for it.
Iirc it's more profitable than it's ever been before, but "under monetized" idk though.
>>370643nobody buys it anymore when they switched away from DND3.5 rules to v4, v5 was better but it was too late. Pathfinder v2 does it better than DND v5, and now people are taking other game systems seriously (buying those instead of DND)
>>370643Losing money with not gaining any, because whatever doesn't get you money will drain with upkeep, fees, paying employees, lawsuits, ect.
>>370644Correct. They are attempting to resell things as well, now censored to be less racist, because orcs are now canonically black for reasons.
>>3706443.5e was certainly better than 5e imo. I just find it hard to believe that it's losing money, but I would have to see the numbers first. D&D has gotten really popular among normies in this past decade, and they sell a lot of books, even if the books are crap and shit all over their IPs.
>>370645I think even worse was the crap they pulled with the OGL last year when they tried to monetize all homebrew and sabotage third party sellers.
