Good question.
There is so many to choose from. Some with great songs, some that is fun break from the norm, and some with great story. And some that encompass all of the above. I should probably do a rewatch to remember/remind me of which one I would put at top.
Two episodes that comes to mind is:
>"Crusaders of the Lost Mark" even though it ended the CMC timeline which is a bit sad it have some great songs.
>"A Hearth's Warming Tail" is another great one with great songs and great story.
But I am guaranteed missing a lot that I can't think of right now.

I liked the one where Apple Bloom had a nightmare about getting retarded Cutie Marks.
A Canterlot Wedding if we're allowing 2-episode storylines to count as one episode, but otherwise probably the Nightmare Night episode. Either way, season 2 was kino
