I don't know how much gab history you know, but early on they essentially sold worthless gab 'stock'. Some people I know bought some, and I imagine a lot of other people did too. I'm pretty sure they published how much money was gathered from the fundraising, but I cant remember what it was. They get lots of random donations too. Money flows where speech is free.

gab has had a bot problem for a while, growing pains I suppose. They've turned off signups a number of times due to bot spam.
the website gab has always been about shaping your own experience though. Instead of complaining about some communist or zogbot saying something you don't like, you can block or mute them, or engage, laugh at them, and call them for what they really are if you feel like it.
in a lot of ways, gab reminds me of the old days of the internet, where anybody could say anything to anyone for any reason.
Also gab trends I believe was made to compete against drudge report or whatever. Never used drudge report, but gab trends isn't really connected to gab proper very well (hardly at all).

Idk. I'm always on the lookout for manufactured media narratives, but I'm skeptical if that sort of thing is being done intionally here, because it looks no different from what boomers usually share on facebook, twitter, or any other social media.
