I don't want to rain on the parade, but this is e-celeb stuff. They got trending because they are celebrities making a statement for attention and Youtube allowed them to. They have ways of making sure this stuff doesn't happen.

You might ask why would they allow this if it talks negatively about them? Well, I can't pretend to predict the future, but like all past actions against Youtube, first and foremost, nothing will happen outside more strict guidelines for more control and censorship. No amount of bad publicity is going to stop them as they actually displayed children being taught what dildos are and made it trend and recommend to people. How is a video about trafficking being deleted going to change anything this time?

The truth is, either Youtube makes these things happen to stir drama and push certain creators bad into relevance, or they do it to gain more control, as they certainly don't care any longer about major advertising deals. The ones that display ads will continue to do so because they get clicks, especially the clear scam ads that have been running. They don't care if a niche content subject leaves because they have hundreds of others that will take their place making content that generates far more revenue as they target children to click on scam ads.

Meanwhile, each and every time one of these celebs gets on a soapbox, they do so to gain attention and never resolve anything. They continue to use the platform and then introduce a further monetization of content while the quality only drops, keeping the quality pay gated and furthering themselves. Look at the people he wished to name to help his cause: h3h3, KEEM, Cr1TiKaL, DeFranco, shane, someordinarygamers... it is all to have celebrities engage with celebrities and make content. It isn't being directed towards removing finances towards Youtube, it isn't reaching out to massive target content creators or target audiences that make Youtube a venture worth the upkeep, it is to make them have a spike in views and become more relevant, playing the part of the rebel to seem like people worth supporting.

Is there anything inherently wrong with that? I would say no, but it is a repeating trend that is not going to result in anything negative happening no matter who they might appeal to. Even if all advertising was pulled and several massive content creators left, Google will never sell Youtube, Youtube will never improve, Youtube will simply continue. Never be fooled by e-celebs. They don't care about anything but popularity and revenue, and they will always betray in some way what you thought they were. It is the nature of media and the controlled environment of showing you a selected portion of what they want you to see.

Sorry for a long winded reply. TL;DR: e-celebs bad, Youtube bad, nothing will happen, the ride never ends.

I would like to see deeper dives into the topics like this and find every corner where they hide, but e-celebs will never allow us to do that. If they get close to truth, they will be blackmailed or threatened to stop. As far as alternates, there are some, but any alternate being led by e-celebs will end up the same. Sorry for seeming black pilled. I want to see Youtube burn, but these aren't the people to do it. People don't bite the hands that feed them without knowing they have another hand elsewhere. I don't believe e-celebs will ever do anything but ask for monetization, which this is a natural extension of. Yes, he was censored, but the response is due to the fact his video is no longer there and earning money or viewers that will continue to watch his content, increasing the chances of additional revenue.

They will not risk derailing the train because they are a passenger. The threats to end Youtube with the pedo label will end when he is satisfied with drama, a return of his video, and a return to monetization. Once this has been accomplished, it will be mission complete for the e-celeb. They will continue to make content, curse the platform they use, and continue to accept revenue. Again, nothing inherently wrong with that, but it isn't someone that has the goal to take down the system.

Meanwhile, what will be gained from the drama? The only positive to the average person is an increased awareness, but this is temporary. As I stated before, they have already had a scandal that was much worse than a deletion. You can easily claim that the deletion was in error or because of an employee that does not represent the company, meanwhile the video in the past was promoted by Youtube and was not removed, a much larger approval by the company as a whole. Despite the larger problem, nothing happened, and now that some e-celebs are upset, we are supposed to believe they will do more with less to work with?

I simply can't believe any popular movement that is unwilling to sacrifice for the goal. The people he reached out to were all celebrities. There are no proposed actions other than make Twitter trend to have Youtube look at the celebrities. The goal he is asking for is for Youtube to choose a side, which he set up as his content or censorship of it, which he equated to being supporting pedos, when they have already shown they have and will, and a victory will be called when the e-celebs have made content, money, and regain the videos they lost.

There is no sacrifice being shown to be on the line. There is no damage that is being risked on the company. There are no consequences. If he doesn't get his way, will any other the celebrities leave? Even if so, which is unlikely, will they become something other than a celebrity, giving up on the majority of their monetization to selflessly promote a message and push for the punishment of the people in control? No, they will go to an alternative if they do leave, in which they will push for more funding with the sob story, and proceed to do nothing more.

So, we need to figure out a better solution to the problem. First, don't support e-celebs. You can use their content to help inform yourself and others, but do not believe in them. Without seeing more than what they present to you, you cannot know who they are. Second, you need to increase the research outside what is widely talked about and known. The research for the e-celeb to make the content have to be open and likely free to access, meaning there is more information out there than they even have presented. Finally, connect to actual people to do something about these things. The e-celeb will always lead people to a pocket to put cash into. Normal people will lead to action.

Again, I tend to rant too much. In summary: e-celebs have nothing to lose, they are doing this in their own interests, and no matter how mad people will get, they will forget when they feel like they have won when the e-celeb has declared a personal victory, just like last time, we have to do the work ourselves

How are they going to stop us? If anything they can only stop us on YouTube no where else. Find stuff get the info out everywhere and even if some sites shut it down not all of them will. Because they control the masses and will tell them when they have won, which will be when the e-celeb has a video restored and has made money. If you rally around an e-celeb, they will act as a pressure release. The average person has a very short attention span. E-celebs are great at harnessing that attention span, but the drawback is that attention is now taken by them.

An army growing when their attention is on a celebrity are soldiers for and only for the celebrity. The average person doesn't either care or have the time to care about things unless it affects them. People grow attached to celebrities and trick themselves into believing that they are on some level connected to such people, which is why even now when such celebrities as Nick Fuentes have basically cashed out, people are still loyal and give him their funds while also fighting for the things he tells them to care about.

The framing of this is people vs pedos, but this is simply a moralistic propaganda-like comparison, as the real conflict is e-celeb got censored and now he is mad. Where were they during any other censorship, during any other scandal with children? The rally is actually around the person and the event is being manipulated to seem grander in scope. The deception is being employed to put extra pressure as well as rally others to signal their virtue, which increases the likelihood that action will be taken to return the celebrity the things taken from him as well as increase of income.

Notice some of the people in that video. He said it will be a good look for them to support him and help people forgive them for mistakes. How does that relate to abused children? It was never about them. He is using them to promote himself, and this drama is just what is needed to grow faster. I don't know if I have seen this guy before, but now I definitely have and that is the strategy.

Sometimes the truth of motivation behind actions seems defeatist. Perhaps he started this all truly because he was disturbed by his findings. Perhaps he thinks of himself as a great outlet for the people that had their lives destroyed and a means that it can be stopped, but the truth is that the actions he took are not those of someone that wishes to do all he can to help, it is someone pushing drama for gain.

I want to see people take what they learn from people like this but use it to help build their own research and their own push for projects, such as building alternatives that are not led by celebrities, forming more effective boycotts and decentralization from the companies that not only profit, but push these things.

In order to do this, we start small and connect to real people, not characters or personalities. Once actual people are involved, they can do things more effectively than those that can be led off target by figureheads that we can't fully know and can only speculate if they are honest in their intentions.

Can this be useful? Yes. Will this lead to anything? It can't, because it isn't designed to. A twitter hashtag will not stop Youtube censorship, pedos, or guide anyone that thought that was all that was to be done towards an objective to actually be done. Once the hashtag trends, what then? Youtube either says they aren't a pedo and reinstate the video, or they say they aren't a pedo and they don't reinstate the video. If they do, victory is declared, people forget, and it is all back to normal. If they don't, reeing followed by threats that most fall flat, then maybe someone leaves to Twitch and uses it to make money.

How does this stop Youtube or pedos? The most it can do is make people shake their head and maybe watch the reinstated video, get upset, then click the next recommended video on funny minecraft moments #37, or some political video saying it is all x party's fault. There is no real outlet, no plan, no direction, and no means to hold anyone accountable. The only ones that stand to gain are the ones complaining on our behalf, and the ones that stand to lose are us.

So really what would be best is for people to actually start taking action, whether or not the video comes back.
And maybe have a thing grow out/taken out of the E-celebs hands.
The question is how do you do that?
It's true that most people will stop pushing when they think they won. What should happen is a continued push no matter the outcome. Like it or not we do need the names/masses with stuff like this because the more people complain the less big corp can hide stuff.

The best way to get something to continue beyond is if the e-celeb is willing to sacrifice for the process to get going. If there was actually a complete shutdown of his channel no matter the outcome and he goes full time into attacking Youtube and not stopping until there is some sort of action against the company, then things could snowball. I doubt he will do such a measure.

The harder option is taking a smaller group out of the current mob and guide them towards a new goal, which will replace the one they would have otherwise been satisfied with. This means you have less people to work with, meaning that you can't effectively use pressure tactics, but you might reach an audience still. However, this group might be a mix of different ideologies as the moral grandstand is broad, which might lead to different directions to take the project. The leftists will likely push for more controls while the conservatives will push for more free speech. The project will gravitate towards the original problem the e-celeb handled because of the nature of the revelation to the group, but it is possible to have them do such things as planning and creating alternatives, researching more abuses, and possibly organizing a boycott effort.

Though these are good little projects, it won't really solve anything on a grander scale. It is really up to us and our slow recruitment of our board culture, our research, and our community that will eventually lead to results. We are even smaller, and it is logical to believe we don't have power to do much. However, we have more potential than any other group as we are more unified that a group of enraged strangers that have no loyalties and will eventually lose interest. We can do all the things, though more slowly, that a smaller group can do, and it can be done with more certainty of effectiveness and without threat of betrayal. An alternative built by pure strangers might sell out or have security flaws. We, on the other hand, have incentives to protect not just each other, but ourselves from any flaws in security or betrayals.

It isn't easy to have to bide time, but I think it is the best long term success plan, to not go with the crowd, but use the happenings as potential and motivation to get together and get something done. Perhaps we can start research on our own Youtube like Pony.tube. We might also do research into the existing alternatives to find which ones are trustworthy enough to use in the meantime. Anything greater is outside our reach outside starting our own physical community where we can raise ponies, growing crops, and ignoring the government.

The thread started as possibly e-celeb and it could have been reported and deleted. Instead, through discussion, I think we are approaching a useful discussion about Youtube alternatives and possible organizational efforts. It is true that doing anything of this nature is not within our scope most likely, as we don’t seem to have a surplus of people that know how to code, at least something of this nature, but to dismiss the poster because he wants to see more anons try to do something is unfair. We have our own derpibooru clone, so it is worth discussing our own video hosting site as well as other projects.
