First, the jobs market is going to tank even with my skillset and this might be a way to ride it out
Second, leadership training in the military is applicable in business and numerous areas in life,
Third, having an officer's rank, even a minor one, is a mark of prestige which helps with influence
Fourth, if anything ever happens it's much easier to organize and direct a militia with a rank and actual training, plus there may be connections made with like-minded folks during service.
The reason why I'm thinking of the Army is because my eyesight is too poor for the Chair Force, Marines are more likely to be put into actual combat, and the Navy isn't as beneficial the way I see it. Maybe the National Guard is a better alternative, I don't know. I just see the coming years as particularly bad and being professionally trained rather than just /fitlit/ might be the way to go.
My main worry is that eight years is a long time and there's a decent probability the army will be deployed against the American people in that time. Obviously that's intolerable but a Roger Maxson moment would be far more difficult and dangerous than any alternative in that situation. Are there any anons here who can give some advice about this and other military-related questions?
