No communication is "safe." If you're planning something mischievous then exchange coded physical letters. In terms of just friendly/edgy chat I don't know but it's probably better than Discord.

Not using discord' servers is a blessing, but my point was that no traffic is safe if it's using a hostile road.

Don't use WhatsApp/DickSword/Faceberg/Twatter/etc. I don't know if Riot is secure/private or not. I recommend using Signal https://www.signal.org/ and emails that have been encrypted with GnuPG https://gnupg.org/ or https://gpg4win.org/ if you use windows (you can also use MSYS2 or Cygwin to get the cli version of GnuPG on windows) Just to clarify the terminology, GnuPG (aka GPG) is an implementation of PGP https://ssd.eff.org/en/glossary/pgp

Generate your own encryption keys and encrypt your messages on your computer and copy-paste it on the webmail or use a email client (e.g. Thunderbird + enigmail or Mutt). Also, if you send images/files, make sure to delete the metadata before you post it (encrypt it, too)
