The title is the topic. I know that this kind of "news" is pointless, but I wanted to throw my two cents in, since I missed my chance to talk about local events with Isla Vista, CA and wanted to make up for it.
Let's take a moment to think about California's schooling and social atmosphere. You're not being taught life skills, entrepreneurship, or how to actually find a job. At best, you're taught math, basic science that you won't know what to do with, and how to sign your soul away. At worst, you're preached to. History class is just an excuse to beat you over the head with guilt. White people killed the injuns. White people colonized Africa. White people were all responsible for the Holocaust. Civics? Democracy and multiculturalism are the only way to atone. These kids lose their innocence regularly and early. Your parents are evil, your grandparents were genocidal. Everything you have, you got through unfair means. You don't deserve anything. You don't deserve respect. You don't deserve what you own or bought with your own allowance.
White achievement is downplayed, ancient history and human achievement is all about other races and people. You don't hear about the Barbary Slave Trade, the burning of the libraries of Alexandria, the expansion of Indo-European peoples across the globe pre-Egypt. Relevant culture, history and philosophies are avoided whenever possible. The founding of our own country is belittled and mocked. "Dead white men" is a catch-all term to gloss over individuals who were genuinely bright men. Ignore their words and deeds, they're white and male!
Until after graduating high school, you are never given room to breathe. Schoolyards are tightly monitored. Teachers and noon duties are just wardens and guards. All conflicts are treated like prison riots, quelled before a real resolution can take place out of fear of shootings. Ironically, it creates an upper class of people who simply game the system, using "zero tolerance" to incriminate anyone who retaliates to harassment. Innocent kids, told never to start fights but always finish them, are treated like felons and thugs, while thugs are ignored.
Every kid that gets brought to the principal's office knows about the urban legends of the Permanent Record - every time you're called in there, it's a mark against you that will never leave. Maybe you think it'll affect your GPA, maybe you think it'll last well into adulthood. What should be a time where mistakes are common learning experiences, is instead a time of mounting dread and fear of consequences that will likely never come. Kids feel trapped. Meanwhile, bathroom stalls, posters, and teachers preach body acceptance, as if that's the problem.
INTP kids, quiet and neurotic kids who just want to be left alone, are berated by those they consider role models and authority figures. They keep what they think to themselves, but as they're backed up against a wall, they start to embitter. They start to make plans.
All these attempts at restricting gun ownership will not solve the problem. This problem is ENDEMIC to American and European schools. No other race or culture is given this feeling. In fact, people of other races are being given a golden ticket to be reckless and careless. While white kids are told to be ashamed of misdeeds they aren't responsible for, black kids and Mexican kids are told that they're inherently innocent and justified in anything they do. Everyone takes the side of the minority kid, even when guilty of something heinous. Those kids, while sometimes prosecuted, often don't change as they grow up. Lack of a father increases one's chance of continuing their delinquent behavior well into adulthood, and becoming embroiled in a gang which continues to foment racial animosity.
Coming back to the shooters, these kids are in genuinely dangerous social conditions, never looked at as equals by their teachers, and backed up against a wall by more and more volatile pressure. Whether you're a liberal or conservative, or apolitical, the fear keeps building up. Eventually, these kids start plotting. They find a steak knife, or they find out their dad's safe's passcode and get his handgun. It doesn't matter how tightly to one's chest they hide or protect their guns. People find a way. And if they don't get a gun, they get a knife.
Some kids have a manifesto and clear-cut targets. See the Dirties, a genuinely interesting movie about this kind of behavior. Others sloppily lash out at their peers, even those who would have related with them strongly, like Elliot Rodgers' nerdy, asocial, and Asian dorm-mates. Then, after the deed is done, the media, the locusts, pick up the rubble and craft their little art pieces. They dig into the killers' personal lives. They ignore the actual victims, and turn the killer into an anti-hero, a monster or a mastermind to fear and admire. 24/7 coverage stokes up the flames. Sensationalizing something that should mostly be locally shared in a factual and apolitical manner. The others who might sympathize with these unhinged kids follow in their footsteps, become interested in copying them. And then, it repeats.
Some children died the other day We fed machines and then we prayed Puked up and down in morbid faith You should have seen the ratings that day >Marilyn Manson.
These politicians and rat-faced finks make me sick. They're the biggest reason to escape from this place.
>>250632 I live in this state at the moment. I live within one city's distance of John Earnest's shooting. Isla Vista and Santa Clarita are very close to me.
>>250635 I don't think the shooting was fake. I just get sick of seeing all this shit happening on the news and further pushing gun control legislation and cultural pressure. It'll keep getting worse, but you guys already know that by now.
>>250608 Public education is a colossal waste of everyone's time at this point. The only reason it even exists is because during the Industrial Revolution it was assumed that about 95% of children would end up working in factories, so they introduced public schools in cities to acclimate children to adhering to a strict schedule and performing mindless perfunctory tasks for hours on end. The subjects being taught didn't really matter because it was assumed that only a small fraction of particularly intelligent and well-off kids would move on to college, the rest would just end up twisting a wrench on an assembly line.
100 years later the curriculum is twice as pointless, schools are cesspits of diversity, and despite there being no factory jobs worth doing anymore you're still basically just being taught to twist a wrench for 8 hours. Any halfway intelligent kid spends most of his school life mind-numbingly depressed because the whole thing makes life look like an endless grey corridor. They try to push everyone into college now even though college is mostly as pointless as high school, partly because they have to dumb down the curriculums so the diversity can get in too. Everyone just keeps moving forward because they don't have anything better to do. Some people decide that it's not worth the bother and check out.
>>250692 >The only reason it even exists is because during the Industrial Revolution it was assumed that about 95% of children would end up working in factories
This true to a point. wypipo got ahold of public education and for a short time is worth a shit. But like everything wypipo do it was viscously attacked until it was dragged below the lcd again. The longer I live the more infuriating this all becomes.
>>250755 >wypipo Tbh we can blame the krauts on this one. The Prussian model of education was copied in the United States by the Progressives. I'm guessing France too for some extent. "Wypipo" were educating themselves just fine through traditional methods but regimented, formal structures have been in vogue since the late 19th century and to this day it's regarded as some sacred good, even though it holds back people of exceptional IQ and can't save those with subpar intelligence.
It's easy to blame an "other" but in this case iirc centralized structures had existed before being taken over by the "other," simply because the structures themselves make it easy to meddle with people's lives.
>>250760 >It's easy to blame an "other" but in this case iirc centralized structures had existed before being taken over by the "other,"
Not only is easy to blame the other, it's righteous and just. The "other " has been subverting us since time immemorial and these structures that wypipo built would be good in the high-trust cohesive societies they aimed to create (I know you don't buy that it ever worked in the first place but I do.).
Now if the "other" would just fuck off and leave us alone maybe that model would work again. But all institutions that wypipo have built are subject to the "other's" subversion... govt, finance, media, culture. The "other" is the real problem not the education (or any) system.
>>250760 It's easy to sit there and parrot the old "Prussian education" meme that every youtuber who got bullied in school mindlessly spouts off for ad revenue. It's also easy to forget that Prussia was the only German state that was strong enough to unite Germany, and that the Prussian-led German Empire only fell when literally the entire world set out to invade it. Prussia was clearly doing something right.
Remember that "traditional education" typically meant that rich kids got private lessons from whatever meme philosophers happened to be popular at the moment, and everyone else just got fucked. The Prussians were the first to implement the belief that commoners ought to have some education as well. By uplifting the common folk, who must make up the bottom layer of the social pyramid in any nation, the nation as a whole is uplifted. No, not every child can grow up to be a scientist or an engineer, but the system of educating all children is what enabled more workers to take on more technological occupations and spur on more industrial innovations. Why do you think it was Germany that invented the U-boat? When everyone has access to education, a middle class is made possible, where common folk are given the opportunity to succeed or fail by their own work and merits, and thus the folk is encouraged to cultivate its merits and succeed.
The Prussian system worked just fine when schools were segregated. In the early phases of the Cold War, White American high school students were learning advanced sciences such as nuclear physics because America knew that it was going to need more scientists and engineers if it wanted to compete with the Soviet Union. People were getting really good educations in the regimented classroom environment. What changed? Niggers. Niglets were shoved into White schools, and as a result the curriculum had to be dumbed down so that the niggers could pass their classes. Thanks to de-segregation, school systems have been forced to keep their difficulty at a low-middle point between White IQ and black IQ, fostering an environment where White children are held back and niglets still can't succeed. The problem has very little to do with the regimented classroom environment; the problem has to do with non-Whites dumbing down the average school population, and with Jewish oligarchs who prefer it that way.
This post has been brought to you by the Prussia Internet Defense Force.
>>250776 I'm in favor of some kind of public education, but the problem with it is that it's become this one-size-fits-all model that was flawed even before diversity was added. You're correct about desegregation dumbing down the curriculum, and the process is currently being continued for all the Mexicans that are coming in. At this point if you own a house and pay property taxes most of what you're paying for is schooling for illegal children who don't even speak English. But even if the diversity problem is solved there are still problems with the model of public education we use that need to be addressed. As I said the main problems are that it is too regimented and too much of a one-size-fits-all model.
I think that there should be some kind of public education provided nationally that ensures the entire population knows how to read, write, and perform basic calculations. I also think it's beneficial for everyone in a nation to have some basic knowledge of their people's history and cultural values. Most of this is stuff the average person can learn by maybe 5th grade or earlier, and I think most people don't need and won't benefit from much more than this.
Class sizes should be small and teachers should be held to higher standards than they are currently (both of these things could be accomplished by getting rid of the diversity and breaking the teachers' unions). Students' progress should be individually monitored; once everyone completes the basic course of study it should be obvious who has the mental competence and interest to progress to higher levels of education. Everyone else could probably be filtered into vocational training programs that suit their interests and competence, or released to the custody of their parents for private education. Nobody gains anything by forcing smart kids and dumb kids to take the same classes and go through the same regimented program.
Basically, you set a reasonable bottom standard that everyone needs to at least meet in order to be a functional part of society. Anyone who demonstrates higher ability has the option to move on to higher plateaus of education, with the most exceptionally gifted ending up in the top-tier positions that require higher intelligence. Anyone else gets sorted into vocational study programs more suited to their abilities and interests. This ensures that most people end up with some kind of productive role that they can manage. Simultaneously you end diversity, expel non-white populations, and end social welfare programs, which should no longer be as necessary anyway since A) no more niggers and Mexicans and B) you're explicitly training people for jobs they can do instead of trying to push people into college who don't belong there. Taken together, these policies would probably free up enough resources that all levels of education could be provided free of charge.
I think it also goes without saying that female children who don't exhibit particularly high intelligence or capability shouldn't receive any further education or vocational training beyond the basic literacy, math and history that everyone gets. I think it's been adequately demonstrated at this point that nothing fucks up a civilization faster than allowing incompetent women to rise into positions of wealth or power.
>>250776 >Uplifting the common folk. That's a fundamental mistake. In England, for instance, the common folk were left to their own misery until they were significantly genetically replaced by higher-quality upper class people who fell down in rank.
>>250792 England jumped the shark with Henry the 8th tbh. The nobles used the reformation as an excuse to steal public lands and finance them out to kikes, and from there England's upper class was gradually replaced with kikes and shabbos goyim, and as a result the lower classes are now being replaced by brown people.
>>250634 >>250608 Holy shit, what did YOU go through? A lot of what you claimed I did not go through, I was not taught. >INTP You don't actually believe in the Myers–Briggs test, do you?
>>250776 >Remember that "traditional education" typically meant that rich kids got private lessons from whatever meme philosophers happened to be popular at the moment, and everyone else just got fucked. The Prussians were the first to implement the belief that commoners ought to h I sure do fucking miss when anons weren't so Plebeian. I want my elitist /pol/ back.
>>251027 The traditional model was perfectly viable in the Medieval world, when nobles were God-fearing and the invention of stirrups constituted a technological revolution. It's not so viable in the 21st century, when the elites have all sold out to evil kikes and anons are dreaming of colonising space. The elite class has to be totally replaced, and the world needs more scientists and engineers than a small elite class can produce anyway. Therefore, yes, the education system ought to be scouring the lower classes for exceptional minds to uplift, and creating an environment where exceptional minds are more likely to arise.
>>251052 The personality test is to... you guessed it categorize a select list of personalities. Fitting everyone into an easily definable box. Unfortunately the way it's designed doesn't really tell too much about the person. It's generalized, and that means the results are generalized too.
Since the method to stick people into boxes is not perfect (or even that sensitive or accounts for certain situations) it's... fine for getting a vague stereotype. Stereotypes are useful they also help the mind not use as much resources to dedicate to figuring out who exactly a person is when the stereotype with a few notes is good enough.
