It is going to potentially be fun watching the debate and see CNN walking on a knifes edge trying to bash Trump, but at the same time in a way that won't backfire. I'd interpret this as, successful societies have more energy/motivation. This makes the inherent conflicts larger. As each side uses this energy to double down, the mostly moderate population rejects both extremes. However I think the basic circumstances will, for pragmatic reasons, have most of the population biased to the right. But the traditional Left/Right parties are being replaced. This might be as "small" as changing the party culture and keeping the name or fading out.
