Since we don't have a /k/ board (or the user base to sustain one) why don't we get a /k/ thread going? Let's have a few questions to start the thread off.
What are some good guns for beginners?
Why do liberals hate guns so much?
What types of gun(s) do you have?
What gun(s) would your waifu have?
What is your dream gun?
How long does the second amendment have left in the U.S.?

>What are some good guns for beginners?
Unless you're a kid, skip any .22s. They're fun for sport shooting, and have very little kick, but ammo for them is notoriously hard to find because of such a high demand. Any sort of 20 Gauge shotgun is good for beginners when it comes to rifle-grip weapons.

It depends on when you get it. Sometimes the price will be jacked up two to three times from normal because everyone is buying the hell out of it. A good time to look for .22 ammo is when your local gunstore has the ammo out on the counter, usually with a paper sign pointing to its availability.

They do make good for target practice, I will admit. But a new shooter cutting their teeth should look to other calibers for getting used to the sound and recoil.

Really? I'll admit, it's been a while since I've had to buy .22 ammo. I got three or so 525 count boxes of Remington-branded brass .22 rounds last time when it was cheap, and you don't really need much when you're going out to the range.

HumanApplejackStoringPistolGunSmiling.jpeg
>What are some good guns for beginners?
There are three considerations: price of the gun itself, ease of use/practicality, and price of ammo. I recommend an AR-15 (ubiquitous in the U.S. and very customizable) and a decently priced 12-gauge pump-action shotgun (extremely common ammo, easy to use, and ideal for home defense). As for pistols, I recommend the Walther PP/PPK (if Uncle Adolf, James Bond, and Elvis Presley all swear by it, you know it's good). If you're really unsure of your gun skills or want a family member to be protected, get a short-barreled double-action revolver.

>Why do liberals hate guns so much?
For those in power, guns represent a Damocles' Sword preventing them from going crazy with social control as in the UK, Sweden and France. For the average left-wing voter, guns are the easiest (though very stupid) cause and effect relation to violence. Subconsciously, they know that guns represent that people don't fit the Rousseauian mold and are a symbol of our imperfection.

>What types of gun(s) do you have?
Only the Walter PP for now, though that's because I'm moving around a bunch and can't invest in arms until I've settled down.

>What gun(s) would your waifu have?
Applejack would probably have a reliable hunting rifle ('94 Winchester), a Smith and Wesson revolver and a Colt 1911.

>What is your dream gun?
Scar-H
It's a beauty of a gun and is probably the best firearm to have when heading to war, considering it's popularity among special forces.

>How long does the second amendment have left in the U.S.?
As long as there is any political structure left in the U.S. Granted, it's been whittled down and constantly attacked but pragmatically the government cannot effectively disarm the population. People are more attentive to threats than most realize and every time it looks like it's in danger people just go out and buy more guns. If freedoms are taken away you will see the creation of the largest black market since Prohibition and it will be the death knell of the government.

Is 22LR really hard to find? Ammo was impossible to find under obama, people were fucking hoarding like mad. Last I went to the sporting goods store, they had plenty of stock.

22LR is not to be overlooked, it's generally the choice of assassins. No kick, shots land on target, death is not immediate, but does come. I have always wanted a glock 22LR conversion kit but they are so damn expensive.

>>240694
Alphabet agencies weren't buying 22lr, but the same machines make ammo for other calibers also, and yes, obama was buying a shit-ton of ammo. But I don't think that's still the case.

Guns guide.jpg
>>240682
Well, now that I have the chance, I ask: how does a man becomes more /k/?
You know, gun culture and hoobies. I like guns because, well, who doesn't like guns? But the thing is I want to get more deeper in gun knowledge:
>Good starting points
>Proper gun safety
>Gun equipment.
>Innawoods fun activities.
You know, that stuff.

As for the questions:

>Good gun for novices?
I say .38s, for great balance of power and accuracy. Plus, you won't need a lot of strenght to hold the gun after the shot. Just keep the arms steady.

>Why do liberals hate guns?
I don't know, they seem to hate a lot of things for no reason.

>Any piece?
No, but when I was in the army I got a FAL in my army days. Very reliable, but the gunshot leaves you deaf for a bit.

>Waifu's raifu?
Well, I like twiggles, so I think something that is precise and very sturdy. Maybe handguns.

>Dream gun?
Ever played Alien 3 for SNES? your gun works as a flamethrower, grenader launcher, and machine gun, all in one!
I wish a weapon like that exists, maybe with even hardcore updates like burning bullets or a good rate of fire for the grenader launcher, and the small mines exploding leaving quite a fire trail behind.
Hell on Earth with only one rifle.

>The 2nd amendment is still relevant?
I'd say the law has aged for sure, but I also know many areas in the US are still dangerous. Maybe a revision would be good.

Also, gun humor

It really depends on what they do. Yeah, faggots could use it as an excuse to do stupid shit, but "muh optics" can likewise be used by cowards to stay scootaloo and never do anything useful.
Take Hitler and his early followers, for example. They weren't afraid to brawl with commies in the streets, and that's probably a big part of their success was demonstrating to the people that they weren't the spineless milksops that most politicians were (and still are today).

Where to? Nah, I'll stay and make fun of the morons here. When they complain about the taxes and dilapidating welfare system I'll gleefully remind the fuckers that it would have been much better without those 2.5 million immigrants and the betrayal of the older generations that demanded everything from the government without instilling a sense of responsibility in the subsequent generations that now are basically selfishly voting themselves more gibs 'n' sheeeiiit.

That is the story of the West at large, betrayed by boomers and the hippie generation, both of which saw future generations as fat wallets to pilfer whilst teaching these new generations that the family unit is bad and children are torture.

No full auto firearms are illegal in all states. But in some states it’s easier to get them legally. In some states it’s as simple as getting your local sheriffs to sign off on allowing you to own one. While in states like California they are more or less banned outright.

This is false. Full auto is legal, but it is restricted by a few unconstitutional laws like the National Firearms Act and the Firearm Owners Protection Act.

You can own one if you pay a $200 tax to the government (was prohibitively expensive at the time when the NFA was written), and if the machinegun is both registered in the machinegun registry and wasn't manufactured after the completely arbitrary date of 1986.

You can thank boomers for being 100% A-OK with that horseshit since they could care less about guns manufactured in the future since they already had theirs and the cutoff means that their guns are "great investments" since it put a cap on the supply of legal full autos.

The problem with this is that the .22lr behaves differently than 5.56 and 7.62. And then there are slight differences within each caliber due to weight, and each weapon will propel the round slightly differently. If you want to practice, practice with the weapon and caliber you intend to use. 22's are are fun, I used to have a walther p22 and i could pop off a mag full of headshots at 25m in just a few seconds, but that didn't help my proficiency with rifles. What helped me learn to hit targets with a real gun? Hitting targets with real gun.

.22lr is cheap, and using it can help a person become familiar with the basics of handling firearms in general at low cost. The recoil from heavier rounds also causes some novices to develop a flinch when they shoot, so growing accustomed to shooting with a weaker round can help them develop good habits before they move on to heavier stuff.

What are the most common handgun callibers?
Are there some common callibers smaller than 9mm?
Since the flight ballistics and the impact force are mostly based on the calliber and the barrel (and the barrels must be mostly the same) how do you decide what kind of gun you buy? Is it just optics and style and weight?
Are there some anti-tank rifles that can harm modern main battle tanks?

They don't. Most armed forces use 5.56x45mm NATO because of standardization. Plus the 5.56 round is good at maiming without killing, which means the enemy will take up more resources trying to help wounded troops.

Ah, you're thinking of .223 Remington, which came first and was developed for the original AR-15. 5.56x45mm is essentially a refined version of .223 for better penetration. I should also mention that using weapons chambered in 5.56 allows for troops to carry more ammo compared to something like 7.62x51mm.

After going through the Bullshit CA guns laws I finally have something.
S&W SD9VE. I like it, it's a good first gun. now I just need to focus on the SKS rifle that i'll eventually build.

>WATCH Kalashnikov expert DESTROYING AK-74 in a non-stop full-auto stress test
> Russia’s Kalashnikov arms maker has surely met the internet’s demand for destruction videos of, after showing footage of a stress test of its AK-74M assault rifle – shot non-stop in full auto until a complete and fiery breakdown.
>The footage, titled “How to kill AK-74M? Full auto fire | Destroyers of weapons” was posted on Kalashnikov Concern’s YouTube page and has since gone viral in Russia. While rifle-destroying videos are a thing among some gun enthusiasts, it’s a rare sight for an arms maker to be putting its own piece through a full-auto meltdown torture.

>Plus the 5.56 round is good at maiming without killing
The caliber is smaller but yawing and fragmentation in soft tissue out to 150m+ means 5.56mm M193 Ball and M855 Ball are equal in lethality to the .30/06 M2 and 7.62x51mm M80 rounds they replaced at least out to 150m or a bit more. This is assuming an unobstructed shot at personnel in the open, of course. The older, heavier calibers were vastly superior at defeating light cover.

>which means the enemy will take up more resources trying to help wounded troops.

Just about every enemy the US has faced in battle since the adoption of 5.56x45mm has shot their own wounded who could not continue to fight.

>What are some good guns for beginners?
I recommend a .22 LR rifle with open sights for beginners. The ammunition is inexpensive, giving you more bangs per dollar, and the noise and recoil are not distracting when you're learning the fundamentals. The Ruger 10/22, Marlin 795, Savage 64/Stevens 62/Winchester-Cooey, are all solid choices. The Ruger has the most aftermarket stuff for it, and, ironically, usually the least usable iron sights as it comes out of the box.

Spending as much time as you can learning to shoot competently. The WWII-era US Army standard for expert rifleman, when shooting .22 training rifles on a reduced-distance range, was ten out of ten shots in a 7/8" or thereabouts target at 25 yards when shooting prone, with a 90 second time limit for timed slow fire including a mandatory reload. If you can do that, you can put metal on target with iron sights at a quarter of a mile, which is a hell of a lot better than most infantrymen are trained to do in most armies today. If you can do that, you likewise have the marksmanship skills for getting humane kills while hunting--though hunting skills are a whole other package.

You might want to attend an Appleseed weekend rifle workshop in your area. www.rwva.org They teach oldschool highpower rifle marksmanship, the way it was taught ninety years ago, between the World Wars. Mostly they train with .22s, and they can advise you about equipment. They recommend a good quality sling, preferably a good quality modern copy of the old US military M1907 leather sling that is still in widespread use among competitors at places like Camp Perry, for the National Match every year.

Once you are competent with a rifle, I recommend a good 22 LR pistol. A Browning Buckmark, a S&W Victory Model, a Ruger Mk 2, 3, or 4, an old used High Standard will do nicely, though the High Standards are collectors' items.

Something like the stainless steel Ruger Mk. II in the picture is absolutely ideal for beginners. It's simple, relatively reliable--though in my experience they can need a little bit of tinkering with the magazines--and as close to "dishwasher safe" as a handgun can get. Get some cheap ammo at Wal-Mart--as of spring 2020, currently you can get bulk pack cartons of 550 rounds of Federal .22 LR for $19.94, and it's good enough for what it's for--and go to the range. Maybe ask if any ranges near you have courses for beginners. Print out some diagnostic targets and bring them, though the version attached is for one-handed shooting using the old "duellist" stance like they still mandate for NRA Smallbore Pistol, and is for right-handers. If you shoot left-handed, imagine the labels reversed left to right. If you shoot with a two-handed stance--and I recommend the Isoceles for beginners, as it is the simplest for a novice to learn and apply--it won't tell you as much, though consistently missing in the 7:00 direction from the center will still tell you that you're flinching or jerking the trigger. The sight picture with a handgun like this is similar to the sight picture with a rifle that has open sights, though it's even more critical to focus on the front sight and keep a consistent grip while shooting--don't let yourself squeeze the other fingers or press in or down with your thumb while you're pulling the trigger. Once you've achieved basic competence with the .22 pistol--I define this as being able to keep at least half your shots in the 2"x3" X-ring of a B27 silhouette target at ten yards, 30 feet, and always keeping all the rest in the 4"x6" 10-ring, with a 60 second time limit, you will have enough knowledge and opinions of your own that you will know what you want next.

>Why do liberals hate guns so much?

There are several reasons for this, all related.

Leftist culture is the culture of urban bugmen, hive creatures to whom privacy and fundamental rights are alien concepts. They distrust themselves and think that if they owned firearms they would surely shoot their neighbors or their spouses in a fit of irrational rage some afternoon, and project these traits onto the rest of us.

Likewise, many have rosy memories of the old Soviet Empire, and loved Uncle Schlomo's stories of rounding up those disgusting "hohols" and making them kneel over a ditch and beg for their lives before shooting them in the back of the head. These are people who have big, revolutionary plans for "society," and by "society," I mean YOU. And they know that their plans won't go over well. You can't collectivize the kulaks without disarming the kulaks, amirite guise? They hate Christians, rural people, and hunters especially.

When the timid suburban soccer-moms who make up the SJWs' stormtroopers hear someone say the police can't always protect them and they are responsible for their own safety, this gives them badfeelz. Freedom is scary, especially when you've never had a real job or known a moment's real hardship in your life. They want all the bad guys punished--by which they mean YOU, for giving them badfeelz. This gives them an illusion of control, which is for them a coping mechanism. No one's more authoritarian than a soccermom who's proud of knowing nothing about guns.

>What types of gun(s) do you have?

All of them.

>What gun(s) would your waifu have?

I never really thought about it.

>What is your dream gun?

Currently I am lusting over a stainless Colt Gold Cup in 9mm.

If it is reliable with your chosen ammunition, and if you are proficient with it, yes. Optimum? No. Magazine capacity is very small and reload times, especially for tubular magazine types, tend to be rather long. But it is suitable for the task, yes.
TLDR if you have it use it.

I'm a different anon. Short answer everything is good for homedefence. If that is what you have at the moment that's ehat you can use.
By that I mean they were a threat to my saftey and the saftey of my family. Dead attackers tell no tales.
First things first, the most basic of gun training, and handling.
Second knowing your gun inside and out. What kind of ammunition do you have available and what kind of penetration, spread, and other stuff is expected from it.
The difference between shooting the fucker, and the wall or two behind them, and across the street into another house.

There is a good amount of factors that the bullet(s)/buck shot will not pass through the target, then the wall, and all the way across the street, into another wall and out again.

He also recently uploaded a video regarding overpenetration in a residential neighborhood. Note that he tests these things himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw8IiRgSMFQ

It's perfectly normal my friend.
Slugs are big rounds rather than a spread of smaller ones.
Unless you are going up to a man in a tank, or overly prepared to rob you, buckshot is your friend. The laws of energy conservation still apply.
So try to take care not to miss your shots because they can still over penetrate.

I would agree that for close-range antipersonnel work (ahem ahem) buckshot is optimum.

I would not discount slugs, especially the soft lead "Foster" type most commonly sold for hunting deer and similar animals in the US. That big fat blob of lead traveling at Mach 1.5 will flatten like a pancake and the front end will deform like a rivet when it hits something solid. In 12 gauge--the most common shotgun caliber--it is likely to be well in excess of an inch across when it comes to rest. This causes it to dissipate its kinetic energy rapidly, making it likely to penetrate a lot less soft tissue than many common pistol bullets.

https://gunstreamer.com/watch/12-gauge-foster-slug-in-ballistic-gel_wsHYVOzsplCD8jR.html

Note that it only traveled about 12" into the gel, flattening out and breaking into fragments. Admittedly, one of them might have gone further than 12" if it had not curved down and hit the wooden tabletop, which arrested its forward motion.

As I said, I do not regard these as optimum. Buckshot is better. The FBI tells us that when otherwise aimed correctly at center mass, a handgun bullet has a 40% chance of passing through one of the bad guy's arms before entering his torso. The attached picture shows why. Shotgun pellets, including buckshot, spread and give you better odds that at least some of them will enter the torso unobstructed, which gives them a better chance of reaching vital structures.

And there are other shotgun slugs made of hardened lead alloy, like the Brenneke designs. These were created to maximize penetration on big dangerous animals like the big Canadian and Alaskan bears, and tend to penetrate about twice as far in ballistic gelatin and other simulants than the soft lead "Foster" slugs.

Slugs are for making sure whatever is on the other end is deader than dead. Buckshot is plenty lethal, but a slug will make the insides of a target explode. Overlethality is a problem because you're going to have to answer to law enforcement afterwards and it doesn't help your case if you clearly exercised overkill. This is why you shouldn't use premium edgy ammunition like "zombie-killer" for personal defense, because anything that can be used against you will be used against you.

Why the fuck do people who like gun rights take this bullshit lying down?
They make memes about wanting to "boolagoo the alphabet bois" but nobody ever talks about the judges. Or the lawyers. Or the laws that fail to protect people who act in self-defense. Or the politicians who want to protect 2A. They just bitch about the politicians who hate 2A.
Every time someone gets thrown in jail for putting a criminal in the ground, they just bitch a little and forget about it until the next time it happens.
Even though the next one to get thrown in jail by career criminal judges might be any of them.
So much of the world has been lost to the enemy.
