>>226676 Sorry about this, I have things compiling as I type and I gotta say we were too ambitious this time around. We cut back on a lot of the ambition we aimed towards to get this all out today, but we were still late because of these types of things. Still hope you all will enjoy it.
this competition is completely fucked. 2+ hours of technical difficulties and 2 crashes. also the floating hands on the pony models are creepy as fuck.
after the trainwreck that was the setup of this match and the prelude i expected this to be lost. went better than expected.
I dont know who was authorized the horse models for our players. i cant even say they are bad. they look outright unfinished. As if they were missing several body parts with their invisible joints. possibly the most unintentionally horrific looking models i have seen in a while. Cant even take proper screenshots without the models ruining them.
I think we could have taken the win with conditions. In the initial game Clippity was up, and in the second one Elway would have been red. I liked what I saw, and a tie is better than it could have been.
Hey. I have a bunch of the recorded matches from today. Anyone want any of them? The files are huge, but that's the nature of live recording. https://pastebin.com/xsirwp1n
So hopefully like a nice train crash this was entertaining to watch. Since I'm sure there are a bit of questions about how everything went so shaky today I'll walk you all through a bit of what went on behind the sense since it makes for entertaining story anyhow.
So 18 is new, there is almost nothing out for it as far as good templates go, a good amount of the players had to be overhauled to work with the new tools and like. On top of this we had you all saying you wanted Pony models so I felt obligated to deliver. Shlomo in his infinite wisdom wanted this to be a larger /pol/eague, and so I reached out to a lot of anons to see if they wanted to help with aesthetics. A few said yes so I was certain we could get 16 teams done between the lot of us.
But this wasn't the case, we were too ambitious, and it became clear that this was going to be a problem when I had 3 days left and was still working on /mlpol/. To crunch a ton of teams out everyone had to cut what they'd have liked to see in game, be it more time to flush out /mlpol/ porting over FBMs for Christ-Chan or Anchovy. We aimed to finish everything with a day to spare so things could be compiled with a reasonable amour of time, instead we had everything finished 4 hours before the game day and were stuck with a compiler error keeping kits from showing in game. So we waited for people to wake up to help, and by then we had 1 hour to go.
And thats when this thread started. So yes, this was all hell on everyone's part. It was hell getting things set up hell knowing some parts were left not to quality you'd have wanted. But contrary to my expectations we didn't loose match one, so we have a chance to stay in and get a better hold of the models we have now.
Might be a bit blog-esc but hopefully it gives some context to some anons trying to figure out why things took so late or look so unfinished. Its because everyone who helped were shooting for the best they could do but time and 18 resources shot that short. That said it looks damn good for 18 standards and even if the poners look a bit derpy its the type of shit I love.
Now here hoping we can get a one up on our rival and have time to lead /mlpol/ into an even better spot. Till tomorrow.
>>226839 AWESOME. I didn't get to see the other matches so this will be excellent early morning enjoyment. >also Handbrake is an excellent tool to reencode to make files smaller
>>226847 Day 1 was fantastic. You and everyone who helped out have nothing to be ashamed of or feel bad for. Aesthetics were fun and looked good in my mind. If everything were polished there would be nothing for commentators to talk about.
>>226847 Shit happens. You are at the end of the day an unpaid volunteer. Unless someone else steps up there it is only so far people can be upset with you. Thanks for the explanation, keep it up Plus.
So from what I'm seeing, if /britpol/ loses tomorrow, we're in, and if they win we just have to tie (might still get through with a 1 loss, but that's cutting it close)
After making the hype vid for /mlpol/'s first match, I was looking for ideas to make a new vid when playing against /pay/ next week. Does anyone have any ideas?
Day 2 is over /tcr/, /auspol/, and /sag/ are OUT If /tcr/ wins, /mlpol/ has to lose (or better) by no more than 1 to go on. If /britpol/ wins then /mlpol/ HAS to tie or win.
I'm curious: were the people in the Cytube chat sporting the hammer n' sickle actually /leftypol/ Anons watching the games, or were they just normal 4chan Anons shitposting?
>>227067 Probably. I know chat and commentators were talking about /leftypol/ being in an 8chan version of the 4cc, but I have no idea if that actually happened or not.
>>227067 >>227072 Some of the /leftypol/ posters were probably Nazbol (who didn't play this cup for some reason), and some were just shitposting, but I'm sure some were legit lefties
>>227074 >sng They were late for class and were marked as tardy. Sucks, too, because they're more of a meme team in the /pol/eague than we are. Watching them play is entertaining as hell.
On a separate note, even with their wonkiness, I'm kinda liking the poner models more than the plantigrade anthro models of 1 and 2 and the unguligrade anthro models of 3. Plus, I imagine the wonkiness can be worked out in the future. And, for once, we're more pone than /mlp/.
I mean...have you seen us play? In one cup, we scrapped by the group stage just barely on a loss, came back and almost broke the record for latest 90+ goal, then followed that up with an absolute meme Bra(7-1)lian Inquisition match, to then beat /balk/ in the finals thanks to the Roach pulling a HI ANON during penalties. We've taken 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each of the first three /pol/eagues, and remain one of the top contenders despite everyone else hating our guts because we're horsefuckers. One of our goalkeepers is a snekfilly dual wielding AKs. We are a glorious meme team, and I LOVE IT!
Hey fun week. Now that hell is over I'd like to ask what you all thought of the new models? Going to fix a few things but I'd like to hear what things most here generally think need to be fixed so I can prioritize it all.
>>227088 They're good! Could use a little work tho, like hiding the human arms that they have chopped offed. And the long necks could be fixed if that's possible. But overall I really like them. Thank you for the hard work Plus
>>227060 You sure love playing against horses dont you?
Good luck Rabbi, here's hoping for a good match
>>227088 Was against them in the poll, but am loving to see them play, actual horses playing and running around scratches an itch i didn't knew i had Some fixes would be good as said before, but damn the N E C C abuse is real If only mulp used models like these
Second day was a whole lot better. Commentary, Technicality, Gameplay Quality, Chat activity. Top Entertainment. The Krautpol, SG and our match versus TCR were my favourites.
even the horse models worked a bit better than yesterday. i thought staff was being too ambitious for their own good but once the NECC situation get rearranged we might just have the most advanced cosmetic kits in the whole cup, as far as pony themed themes go for sure.
cant tell how far we will get but Day 2 made this tournament worth it already, at least to me.
i still dont know what the fuck you were thinking to actually invite leftypol, but that Putin goal yesterday was definitively a highly in the history of the whole cup.
>>227088 Basically what everyone else has said. The poner models are great, it's only the N E C C issue that needs to be fixed. I imagine after this /pol/eague we can get to trying to refine them even further, perhaps by smoothing out the walking and running animations to be more horse-like, but that isn't a priority issue.
It's gonna be awesome having these poner models. I wonder how long until mulp decides to use them. Thank the entire team for their hard work for me, alright?
>>227932 We've only got one match for today. We're playing against /pay/ at 12:40 p.m. Central Time. For Euros that's around 5:40 UTC. I don't know about after that, but if we make it to the next round then all of our next matches will come tomorrow. For now, we just have to do better against /pay/ than /britpol/ does against /tcr/, and /britpol/ plays before us at 12:00 Central (5:00 UTC) so we'll know how well we need to do.
Personally, even though this will have been a fun /pol/eague if we lose, I really hope we kick the shit out of /pay/ as much as Yang kicked the shit out of himself in the debate.
heres group /b/, with /sg/, /fsg/ and /leftypol/. all teams exactly 3 points with 1 win and 1 loss. cant say if /cg/ they will be able to beat leftypol, . results will also depend on /sg/s match.
Apparently one team manager on pol league had a public meltdown on the 4cc wiki complaining the cup is falling apart because they let teams play he does not like, wrote a TLDR shitpost???
may or may not have been because of us and/or leftypol
Randy posted this an hour ago (after not having drawn pony art in months, this was a practive piece). Since we won i felt like posting it here for the festive ocasion. He also watched the last match. He was entertained.
Hope you enjoy. Also that fuzzy thing is her pet Tribbling Dr. Göbbels.
On time Practically no technicall difficulties or errors Mostly good energetic commentary Pleasant match outcomes Entertaining performances As far as I am concerned you deserve a recommendation. Solid performance. Would watch again.
Who else is hyp for today? We've been looking good so far, so as long as we keep it up, we might have a chance this year.
Also, I'm planning on drawfagging something from our match yesterday, but I can't give any guarantees on quality or that it will be done before our match against /cg/ today.
The second and third play day were very good. I am cautiously optimistic, but we should not go in there expecting to win a second title. After all, we are reigning champ and already made it to the quarter finals. Every else on top is a just a Bonus.
I for one will try to keep the expectations realistic and hope that we will see some entertaining matches that bring glory to the cup and a champ that deserves the title. My personal tip is Italypol will make it. They are intimidating. But time will tell us shortly.
btw i still dont know what happened with the moon base stadium
>>228267 I know, but it's nice to hope for the best, as long as we work for it. Either way, this has been a fun /pol/eague, and I hope today will be no exception. Not sure about /italypol/ making it. They've gotta survive the 3-0 Curse, first.
>>228275 Only reason I wondered is because duplicate images are not allowed, so there will be a slimmer selection of images to post further down the line in this thread.
i asked staff to implement an optional feature some time ago that allows duplicate posting in a designated thread. it was never done unfortunately.
if you think the dublicate posting could impede the forthcoming posting where it cant be tolerated anymore i guess thats a good enough reason to make a new thread.
Well, I've got at least part of it done so far. Apologies for any wonkiness or poor camera quality. It's been a while since I've drawfagged, and I don't have a scanner.
Glory glory /mlpol/ Glory glory /mlpol/ Glory glory /mlpol/ And the Horses go marching on /mlpol/ are the greatest team the world has ever seen /mlpol/ are the greatest team the world has ever seen /mlpol/ are the greatest team the world has ever seen And the Horses go marching on
