So a few more details might be announced soon in the NY toy fair, I think it's a bit soon to talk about the MLP G5 full 3-D zebra movie that's still in the sketching/modeling phase, but okay, BM isn't DHX!
I'm sorry, Applejack! I'm so sorry...
>>205066wait til you see the first renders or even a trailer, you will truly know what confusion means.
>>205068>>205069So they're attempting to replace Applejack because she's too much a stereotype for Southern White farming culture? Is this the White = Bad kind of deal going on here with Hasbro?
>>205061>>205070>>205069Actually from what it says in the article we don't know for certain whether it will be a G4 movie or a G5 movie. There's really not enough details yet to really say if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Although I'm not fond of the implication that it might be 3D animated.
>full 3-D zebra movie
Is this how you guys nicknamed it? Sounds pretty bad.
Those leaked from /mlp/ by the way. They're a bit late on some stuff.
>>205071>Although I'm not fond of the implication that it might be 3D animated. My thoughts exactly. It has the sound of a cheep Disney sequel (or knock-off) made by a unknown Indian sweatshop. But it also it could be good based on some of the fan-made 3d stuff. Lets hope for the latter if they are set on going 3d.
https://youtu.be/ZgHpYG9T-PgBut if we try to see this from a best case scenario perspective it might bode well. If it is a G4 movie it might tie into the upcoming game Hasbro has planned. They might be going for 3d in the movie to get the artstyle familiar for an 3d game. And if Hasbro is putting money into making 3d models and a game for G4 it could indicate an extension of the lifetime for the G4, or at least their unchanged characters.
Then again time will tell, and once we know more we can lament or rejoice. Will we see the abyss looking back in 3d, or will it be a pleasant sight. But I wish they kept the 2d style as it caters to more creative freedom.
>>205068Sorry for your loss, amigo...
If it means anything, it looks from that slide that its the Toon Bloom g4
>>205088Which game exactly?
>>205061It will likely be like the 2017 movie.
>>205110>Which game exactly?I might have thought of the concept art for the movie. I just think I read something about a game sometime, but I could be remembering wrong.
>>205115The series really deserve a good game, many interesting game mechanics could be brought in.
>>205118I've always wanted a Paper Mario-style turn based RPG. The art style and story/humor in particular would work really well with MLP.
>>205131How come the crappy gen4 mlps get games but not the moderb ponies?
>>205118>>205122I've been working on a full rpg (custom engine built ground up) for the past three years but I just don't have time with all the "irl" work I need to do. At least I haven't given up.
>>205118I designed a MLP game, and something I would turn it into if it got C+D'd. The mechanics, characters, art style, and game names are set in stone, I just need to decide on some levels and whether I'll make this in Unity or Unreal.
>>205082According to Megan McCarthy and Hasbro execs this is the direction they decided for the G5.
>>205082We have a bunch of excellent concept artists on this project, I'm confident about this. More will be out once it's done.
>>205088Hasbro decided it since 2006 to have a MLP movie all in 3D, 2D has been done with the MLP movie, it was not that much of a success. It needs to really be catchy and visually on the top. The unknown of the equation is HOW to make a story and writing that will attract more than bronies and little girls. But also keep it to the target audience. This is insane.
Hasbro want to believe in their franchise, and they want to become the new Disney, the problem is they want to imitate Disney. Without the hundred million dollar budget.
>>205118+1 for a very deep, adventure game a bit like Skyrim or Final Fantasy, that would sell much more than another movie, but with what is being done today, it's only something we can expect in the next gen, not something silly like that tablet game.
>>205110Nah, the animation movie I'm working on for '21 is gonna be full 3D. There's a few other things planned, not our business.
>>205147Augh, that tablet game...
I'll love to see a Pony-Skyrim game, Legends of Equestria gave us a small taste with its open world and the teleportation mechanic.
Good to have a Boulder animator around here.
>>205146>>205145Sounds great, y'll should make it public so Bronies can get you some bucks.
>>205220Yeah, I should. And I will.
In your opinion, which is better. Unity or unreal?
>>205222Unity is easier to learn, but Unreal looks better and is the more “professional” choice (although the visual gap between them is closing, and developers are starting to use Unity more often). I’d go with Unity, though I maybe biased since it’s the one I’ve used a lot.
>>205222What's this game about? If it is a card game that has these rules,
>>204084 →, then I demand royalties
;D!
>>205272Thanks. Looks aren't really that important to this game. I want my game to look like a Ps1 title, because those are the games I grew up playing.
Sort of the Sonic Mania approach. Slightly too good for what it's designed to look like, but not so good that it stops looking like that thing.
>>205278Nah, it's just a collectathon with amazingly good combat. That's what I'm designing.
Though I wish I could make the "Different and arguably better sequel" before the first one, because that one will probably be easier to make.
Still, the first one is the one I want to make first. It's the first impression I want people to have when they look at this series.
>>205323Yooka-Laylee's levels were too big, its platforming was too boring and simplistic, it hid collectables incorrectly, its writing was obnoxiously liberal-tier "Self-aware", and I hated how "We did it, guys! We proved critics wrong by making the best game ever!" it was.
It took the design flaws Banjo 2 had and made them worse.
>>205352That sucks, because it looked so promising during development.
