Mirror Magic: after Juniper Montage was """""""defeated""""""" by the girls, she is working at the cinema in the mall to fix the damages she did in her uncle's cinema studio (Movie Magic).
Anyway, she is mad because she saw the girls during a music video (Dance Magic), so she hates her guts.
Meanwhile, Sunset came back to Ponyworld to speak with Twilight and show Starlight the Earth.
Anyway, first moment were adorable with Starlight making the same mistake that Twilight did in EqG 1 (acting like a horse in human world). Sunset see this, so she takes her to the mall.
Anyway, more cute and SoL happens and Sunset shows to Glimmer her friends.
During that time, Juniper sees them, she hates them from afar, and takes her mirror wishing to be the actress she always wanted to be.
The thing is: the mirror got corrupted with magic since it has been leaking from Equestria through a crack in the horse statue.
Now, this is the part where cute SoL and character development sails merrily from the writers's head just to go for the unnecesary magical girl plot: Juniper becomes a monster, the girls get woorfed hard being send to a white void, and glims manages to escape from Juniper's grasp by back flip-kicking her in the face (leaving behind the fact she just came to Earth like 30 minutes ago).
No epic battle, no magic defense: just a Superman speech to stop the monster.
Worst part, it worked. Juniper has the sads, brokes the mirror, the girls escape from the void, and everyone is friend with the crazy girl who was ready to destroy the city just for a main role (that she isn't prepared or even worth to deserve it).

This is the human world, a place where millions of stories can be told. Less than half of those are child-friendly, sure, but add Magic in there and EVERYTHING can become a metaphor that lets you get away with telling almost any story you want.
What the fuck is wrong with Hasbro, and why does it think we'll love every inferior knockoff of Rainbow Rocks as much as we loved Rainbow Rocks?
Shake up the formula! Or make it a spinoff TV series starring Sunset, Sci-Twi, and some other humans, with the Dazzlings as semi-main characters like what the CMCs were in FIM. Sunset has to get back all the magic things and put them in an anti-magic box Twilight shoves through the portal before it collapses until the season 1 finale.
Come on, imagine a kid-friendly Warehouse 13+Jojo's Bizarre Adventure S4+Todd and the Book of Pure Evil written by the real writers of FIM, who are left alone by Hasbro, which is busy micro-mismanaging nu-FIM 2: Electric It'sshittoo!

Starlight Glimmer was a bitch from nowhere who, nonsensically, had more magical power than Twilight Sparkle on the day she had to be "Forgiven" for her sins, and from that day on, even though she was weaker than Twilight on the day she was an Amon knockoff and a satire of Communism.
She's the embodiment of everything wrong with the way FIM is written now, a black hole that swallows up logic and spits out Glimmer.
Even fucking Trixie is brought back, and mentally regressed into a whiny bitch worse than she ever was before(without amulet influence), just so she can be the bitchy friend attached to Glimmer to make her look better. Then this is done to Discord. Then Thorax is added to her little wannabe-mane six crew, even though none of them have any chemistry or depth.
From an out-of-universe perspective, the writers love her too much and it's ruining the show almost as hard as the writing mistakes that turned her into this.
From an in-universe perspective, she's Cthulhu except she makes those who gaze upon her retarded and willing to forgive her for anything.

Sci-Twi is an alternate version of mega-prodigy Twilight Sparkle who spent all of her time focusing on science instead of magic, in a world where advanced tech is far easier to get.
It makes sense that a purely knowledge-focused friendless super-pressured fancy-school child-prodigy alternate Twilight would be able to know more shit than a pony who's spent five years in that world tops, after 20ish years of living in pony world.
If magic is some sort of "Additional state of programmable matter" or "Mysterious and powerful energy", tech should be able to drain that from one point to another quite easily. Now tech forcing magic to do what the tech wants when a button is pressed, THAT would take some doing.
Sci-Twi "Got" the Alicorn form she stole from Sunset.
The EQG writers aren't allowed to do a "Sci-Twi confronts her Shadow and gets a Persona- I mean her own magic harmony form" scene so these two characters are stuck in an endless loop. Sci-Twi can't properly defeat her demons and become the new main character because she isn't emotionally and mentally ready, and Sunset can't go back to being the main character because she's stuck proving she's a hero now by being supportive of a pony she wants to "Evolve into" the "Real" Twilight.
This infinite loop needs to be broken in a big, risky writing moment Hasbro just won't let these writers do.
I reckon this infinite loop could be fixed with a scene where she's all "I will confront my darkness, which is a part of me! I'll face myself! *Faces and battles and then embraces her inner darkness and she accepts herself and that she'll never be what anypony thinks of her or wishes she was, and then she becomes Night Sky-themed Wingless Unicorn Twilight instead of Fake Evil Alicorn Twilight*" or "Shimmer, I appreciate you and everything you've done for me, but FUCKING STOP! Getting over my darkness won't make me into the pony you miss! I'm not 'The Sciencey Twilight', I am Twilight Sparkle! I am me, nobody else! HAAAAAAAAAAAA- *Digivolves into SSJ3 Rainbowcorn Technomage with matrix powers and computer line wings who conjures technology like a fire mage conjures fire*"
Shame we'll never see either of those.
Honestly, the only bullshit thing about Sci-Twi is her beating Rainbow Dash in every sport except motorbike racing. I guess a hyper-trained child prodigy would probably be kept fit, but there's no way she trained more than Human RD, who physically can't nap on clouds after rushing what's basically a street-sweeping job.

Depends how strong is the magic, and how advance is the technology.
If the magic is powerful, but the technology is very limited (ballestas, hand made bombs, swords and lances), then magic is OP.
If the technology is really advanced, but magic doesn't go beyond a basic moveset (low level telekinesis, set some things on fire, a flash spell or two), then technology is OP.

A good game that combines magic and technology is Shadowrun

When you think about it, a 9mm would be seriously OP in MLP. Nobody would know what it is. Nobody would know how it works. You'd be able to aim and shoot it at anyone, because their world doesn't even have water pistols. And if it does, they'd assume it's an edgelord's tiny squirt gun, not something that could "Instantly" put a potentially-fatal hole or twenty in even the strongest non-regenerating fighters.
But in a setting where everyone has better guns, a 9mm would be mediocre at best.
It's the same deal with Sci-Twi's magic-draining device. If it's really possible to make tech that can interact with technology and forcefully drain it and send it from point A down the circuits and to point B, it's only as OP as whoever you use it on.

Well, congratulations, because that's basically it.
Some time after EqG 3, a guy said that it would be cool if the EqG world added an element that drains magic like sci-twi's amulet.
Then some guy said something about advance technology in Canterlot City.
Finally, some anon said: "Ace Thruster, secret agent sent to defeat the magic menace".
After a while the joke had a snowball effect: he had a few stories, his style was defined, even earned a partner for the classic two-cop dinamic.

The lore go like this:

>Ace Thruster
Ultimate Chad, savior of the world, protector of the Earth. A gun-first, questions-later man who defeats crimes his own way. He drives super sports or legendary classic cars to anywhere he goes. His smile cheers up any man, his gaze melts any woman, and his body is the strenght that crime fears. He is the ultimate agent of BOI (field-work specifically).

>Coffee Klatch
Partner of Ace Thruster, more quiet and barely visible. He always dress in suit or fancy. Can't tolerate salty foods.
He is an agent who is more "by the books": respects the law, goes through planning and scouting, and always has the right paperwork at the right time. He is the leash that keeps Ace in check.
At difference of Ace, who loves posh appartments and deluxe cars, he lives in a classic 1947 wood house while driving post WWII cars (very redpilled and well-read. Wishes for a more safe world, and he is putting his grain of sand).

As we know, Equestria had incidents on Earth since a millenia, so a group of humans and ponies were chosen to protect the Earth, and make the area a full quarantine zone. Ace was one of them.
Through the years, he has been recieving orders from Mr. Smile (the leader of the group. Always speaks through phones or screens, yet nobody has seen his face, neither his own men).
Through the years, he discovered and used Equestrian magic, allowing him to keep a shape of a mid-20s man, ready for action (yet he managed to add or reduce his age as the situation required).
At the 21st century, he was called to Canterlot City (ground zero) due to a rise in magic events. The organization (who expanded into an off-the-book team known as the Bureau of Investigation; BOI) assigned him with Coffee Klatch due to his knowledge in plannification.
The plan: meet the girls and neutralize the magic threat.
Ace style: he will enter in CHS as a student/teacher to meet the girls face-to-face, and try to take the threat head on.
Coffee style: he will survelliance the school, follow the girls in common civilian sedans, plant bugs and hidden cameras in their usual places and construct a case against them, to finally arrest them for bad use and be the source of an equestrian outbrake.

I get your point, it is just that no-body in the MLP universe is particularly amazed by the Human world technology, there's not a quote on how might this tech can be, there's rather some quotes on how the Human world does not have the strenght to stand a fight against magic beings, like Sunset.
Out of fan-fics like the BOI's one, Sci-Twi who created that ground-breaking device is an atleast, pretty OP character. Canonically of course.
