Apologies to those disaffected, but due to personal system constraints rabbit will be the method for tonight. I have a bitchin PC in the works, and may the person who is setting it up be granted favor and grace and Football. Until then however, Stream.me can only run at about 3fps with all the operating files and issues. Sorry, its a work in progress, but it will be addressed soon.
Okay, as stated I should the hardware to run a Stream.me on the reg without issues soon, but for now I have to use rabbit. Sorry to those who can't/won't use it (I know its buggy AF and has other issues but for the time being its the best I can do. Send donations to [email protected]).
But there will still be an MLP movie stream tonight in about 1/2 hour, and if you've ever been around for one of my streams,... well don't spoil it for the rest but join anytime in the next 5 hours and there will be a Pony movie.
Merry Christmas! Today at 6pm EST, we're gonna do a stream of the movie Jack Frost (the classic stop-motion one, not the horror flick,... though we may watch that one too afterward) Get yourself some cocoa (perhaps with booze) and join us for some good old-fashioned, not-yet-targeted-by-SJWs holiday fun!
The movie that has been selected for tomorrow night's stream because I was a knob and forgot to setup a straw-poll over Christmas, and because it was specifically requested is Frailty (2001 - Mathew MacHardToSpell). Show scheduled to start at the usual time.
>>196067 Equilibrium is in the lead with 3 votes. I'm not gonna do another poll, but that counts as one for DC (good choice btw). But my streams always involve at least one second feature
>>196079 As of now, Equilibrium is the clear winner, while Eraserhead, Whiplash, and Dark Crystal are all tied for second feature. Second feature is then to be determined by occupants during the stream. Room will open about 20 minutes before 6(PST)-9(EST). Hope you can make it! >pic related is one of the weirder images that came up searching Equilibrium Movie MLP, particularly cuz its tagged "Gallery for Jet Li"
Patrick Bateman Christian Bale stars in Equilibrium, starting in about 20 minutes. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas >pic related is the best I could come up with for ponified
Equilibrium was decent. Coreography was a little cheesy, and there was a questionable plot point toward the end, but it was a good dystopian. Eraserhead. sigh >>195972 You should be ashamed of yourself. You're the reason I'm going to vet suggestions in the future. We're going to wash out our eyes with the MLP movie, starting 3 minutes ago.
>>196399 >i feel like Everyone on the board needs to see Eraserhead. Only if you hate the board. The movie is terrible and absurd. It needs to be gassed for to be a prime example of degenerate art.
*12 Strong: The declassified true story of the horse soldiers *The Objective.
I saw 12 strong last year, enjoyed it, and recommend it.
The Objective is something that I've never seen. I keep seeing it brought up and recommended on 4chan's /tg/ when people talk about Delta Green. Delta Green is kind of a modern day conspiracy/cthulu/x-files setting. It has gotten some bad reviews though, so it might be shit. It is probably best to save it for an evening when we're willing to take a gambit on movies that might be bad.
>>198335 >>198341 I want to point out that The Objective isn't part of the Delta Green setting. Fa/tg/guys just seem to find it reminiscent of Delta Green.
Back to Delta Green, I do enjoy the setting a lot. It was created as a setting for a table top RPG, but there are some good novels that you can read. Don't read them when you're depressed. Not many of the stories have good ends for the characters. Here's the quick rundown on Delta Green:
>Born from the OSS in WWII to investigate why Nazi Germany was so interested in the occult and to thwart their dark schemes. It solidified into a black budget agency within the United States Government after the army encountered a Deep One incursion in Innsmouth Massachusetts. The organization was disbanded and buried after an operation in Cambodia royally fucking went wrong. Old veterans from the program revitalized Delta Green as a clandestine cell-based organization and have recruited a new generation of agents who are willing to risk everything to fight back against the monsters and keep the darkness at bay for one more day. They have no authority and no backup. Maintaining secrecy is imperative since it is not uncommon for you to break many laws and hurt innocent people while completing your mission. Furthermore the government will bring its weight down upon you if they catch wind of your operations since the Deep State and Majestic 12 have sold out humanity to the Greys in exchange for technology and power.
https://www.strawpoll.me/17245686 Additional recommendations will be considered, and posts in support will count as votes. So far there tends to be 2-3 movies per night, so keep that in mind.
>>198752 Ninjas, just an FYI. Delta Green isn't a movie. Sorry for the confusion. When those other two guys expressed interest in those kinda stories, I just wanted to give them some more information about the setting.
First feature for tonight will be The Thing, followed by The Objective, and finishing the evening with They Live. Room will open around 8:30p EST, 5:30p PST, and the shows will start a half hour afterward!
>>199140 >First feature for tonight will be The Thing, followed by The Objective, and finishing the evening with They Live. It was a good selection. I enjoyed them, thanks.
>>199221 I agree. TBH I'd never seen it before nobully but its one I'm gonna have to watch again to try and catch things I missed the first time. >>199249 Don't thank me, thank anons. With the exception of Snatch, I haven't suggested any of the videos, I just tabulate and run a poll. I'm glad you enjoyed them though. ^_^
And to that end, all the movies that haven't been watched yet will be in next week's poll, and anyone can suggest additional selections for inclusion.
>>199140 It was fun. The Objective was weak in comparison to the classics of The Thing and They Live, but not so bad that I needed to commit Sudoku. Now that I've seen it myself, I can see how the fa/tg/guys view it as a depiction of your average Delta Green mission. It plays out like most of the Delta Green stories that I've read: *Federal agent who's part of "the group" ropes some friendlies into the operation, or pulls strings to have some government assets requisitioned for some off the books mission *shit starts going bad and the friendlies are the first ones thrown under the bus *Mission success is often still a Bad End for the Delta Green agents who performed the mission.
>>200708 Alright! Serbian Film wins first feature, 12 Strong is the 2nd, and Gay Niggers wins 3rd, simply because if we're gonna watch Kill Bill, we just gotta watch both back-to-back, so that will be on for next week. Movies start at 6p PST, 9p EST, room will open 1/2 hour early (the usual link, but I'll post it anyway). Hope to see you there. ^_^ >pic unrelated
>>201005 I'm gonna miss the first feature, but I hope to make it to one of the later ones. I'm at a friend's birthday party, but things are starting to wind down.
>>201008 Glad you made it So yeah, Serbian Movie was fucking retarded, so we watched Kill Bill 1&2 cuz its not complete ass. Not saying the other movies are complete ass,... but Gay Niggers is actually complete ass.
>>201043 Drat. I was tired and was interested only in Kill Bill anyway (though it is Zionist propaganda and I was going to point it out), so I was going to make a return next week for that. Don't worry yourself because there are always more movies.
>>201085 My apologies. It was a spur of the moment decision, as several key concepts depicted by the movies (not the Zog propaganda) related to a personal situation and I was able to use them to illustrate concepts I was trying to communicate elsewhere. I'm not opposed to watching it again sometime.
Strawpoll for Friday's movies is up: https://www.strawpoll.me/17340438 Amadeus 12 Strong Dead Babies Sweeney Todd Gay Niggers from Outer Space Seven Days in May
Additions can be posted in thread (each post counts as a vote), and unfeatured movies will be included in next week's selection.
>>201970 Voted. I'd also like to suggest the first bladerunner, which takes place in the distant future of 2019. It could be fun comparing how they thought the future would be like in the 80's versus how it really turned out.
Amadeus wins first feature, and its a 3-way tie on the later features, so they will be determined by whoever is present to weigh in. Show staring soon! https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
>>202419 "Anooooon, do I have to go?" >You look back at Sweetie Belle in irritation >She's walking several paces behind you, dragging her hooves "Yes, you do," you tell her for the umpteenth time >she kicks at a pebble and stares sulkily at the ground "Why, though?" she mutters, half to herself "I don't know, your sister says you need culture and refinement and stuff," you tell her >she kicks at the ground again and doesn't answer >to be honest, you do feel a little bad about making her do this >a three hour harpsichord lesson every Thursday, that's pretty brutal >you probably wouldn't have wanted to do it either, when you were a kid >and to be fair, you did kind of sign her up without telling her sister >but you couldn't help it, the foal has been driving you up the wall >and Rarity, that bitch >just dumping her little sister on you for the entire summer, while she goes off to Manehattan to do some kind of fashion shit >didn't even ask, just assumed you'd be cool with it >you used to make fun of Spike for being such a beta cuck, but damned if it's not impossible to say no to that mare when she gives you those bedroom eyes >you look over your shoulder >Sweetie Belle's fallen even further behind >you whistle at her, she reluctantly picks up the pace >will Rarity be mad when she finds out about this? >there's really no reason she should be >I mean, come on >harpsichord lessons with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart? >that's like the opportunity of a lifetime, right? >and to be fair, she does always say that her sister needs refinement or whatever >naw, she won't be mad >Rarity loves that kind of fancy shit >when she gets home and finds out her little sister can play Concerto #12 or whatever the fuck at all her dinner parties now, she'll go ape shit for it >you'll probably be washing dried mare cum out of your pubes for a month >and anyway, if you don't get that filly out of the house for a couple hours a week there's a good chance you might actually kill her before the summer ends >she had her damn friends over the other day, they were running around your apartment doing their wacky crusader shit >a herd of elephants would have done less damage >ever seen what tiny horse hooves do to hardwood? >there's a security deposit you won't be getting back "Come on, damn it!" you shout >you immediately feel bad about raising your voice, but her dawdling is getting on your nerves "It's just a harpsichord lesson," you tell her, a little more gently. "Just do it and get it over with. How bad could it be?" >Sweetie Belle stares at the ground again >she's got that weird nervous look on her face she always gets whenever you bring up harpsichords or Mozart >something about it feels weird, but you push that feeling aside >you're already thinking about three whole hours of time to yourself >no tiny hooves scuffing up your floor, no noise, just hot pockets and vidya games >anyway, fuck it; you're already here >you stop outside the door >"Wolfgang A. Mozart" is printed on the glass in those fancy old-timey letters >you still can't believe you actually found this guy >you were under the impression that he had died in 1791 but nope, he's still around it looks like >famous long-dead Austrian composers and pastel cartoon horses walking around all over the place, what a fun century this is >anyway, whatever, you open the door "Ah, Sweetie Belle!" cries Mozart. "Aren't we looking just scrumptious today! Come on inside, have a seat at the harpsichord." >Sweetie Belle gives you one last pleading look, but you've already got hot pockets on the brain >reluctantly, she trots over to the harpsichord and jumps up "Mmm, that's it my little filly, have a seat right up here on Wolfy's lap..." >that Mozart really is kind of a weird guy >whatever though >you turn to leave >on your way out, you pause >some nagging, dim little alarm bell is still going off somewhere in the back of your mind >you turn around >Sweetie Belle is sitting with Mozart at the harpsichord >she's staring off at nothing, looking dejected and terrified >Mozart turns and gives you the creepiest look you've ever seen "Close the door," he says.
Tonight's movie selection will be: Blade Runner (the classic) 12 Strong John Wick And probably the MLP movie again First feature starts in just under an hour.
Because the first one was so often, I'm gonna go ahead and nominate John Wick 2 for movie night. The selection is: Dead Babies Sweeney Todd (90's) Gay Niggers from Outer Space Kelly's Heroes John Wick 2
As usual, post any unlisted movies. Each post counts as a vote, and whatever isn't featured will go on the list for next week
>>204807 You are correct, and I am an idiot https://www.strawpoll.me/17431092 Note: Due to the 4cc, I'm opting to bump the first movie back an hour to 6pPST/9pEST Also, pay no mind to the actual date listed on the poll
Per request, here's a complete (I think)list of the movies that have been featured so far (that were voted, I don't recall some of the movies that were selected):
Equilibrium Eraserhead Dark Crystal Whiplash Snatch The Thing The Objective They Live Serbian Film Kill Bill 1&2 Amadeus Seven Days in May Bladerunner 12 Strong John Wick Kelly's Heroes John Wick 2 Perfume: The Story of a Murderer
I ended up liking Perfume more than I thought that I would. It improved after he started apprenticing under the Perfumer. Up until that point I nearly bailed from the film because I couldn't help but think "*BRAAAP*, *SNIIIIIFFFFF*. Yep, that's going in my cringe compilation"
I disliked the ending a bit though. IMO the girl's father should have killed him.
>>205902 >IMO the girl's father should have killed him. That is the point of the perfumer. To alter the brain' synapse to overcome reaso and logic. It may be catalogued as a specialized branch of chemical warfare.
>>205902 I agree, the ending would have been better if the father was the one person of reason and ran him through. It was justified, and there was no exploration of what about the extracted scents were so enamoring. People have all kinds of odors, and not all of them are pleasant. We're to assume as a nasal expert that the 'protagonist' knew how to manipulate those extracts, but the more I think about it the more questions I come up with. It was an entertaining feature though, thanks to the anon who suggested it. And to that end, please suggest more movies. There's an average of 3/session, and we're running out of prospective movies. I'm not opposed to taking requests on the fly, Perfume was one such, but I also want to give anons a degree of determination.
Movie Night poll is up https://www.strawpoll.me/17476561 Dead Babies Sweeney Todd Gay Niggers from Outer Space Andromeda Strain Blazing Saddles The Matrix
Oh shit, I'm way stuck on retard tonight. Andromeda Strain wins 1st, followed by The Matrix, and Blazing Saddles. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas Since I'm damn near an hour behind, I'll wait for people to join,... really sorry about that but I have no excuse. Anyway I'll wait until ~9:15p EST cuz I'm retarded. Srsly, my bad
Thanks to everypony who attended this week's Movie Night, in spite of all the difficulties.
In a break-away from tradition, this week (Friday March 1st) I'm doing something slightly different. The movie(s) will be Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, featured back-to-back (it's a two-part, if you're unfamiliar).
Other features will follow per participant request, and in the meantime I would like input about the format. My concern is that in several instances anons have nominated and elected movies and the anons have been unable to see them, and I would like input on how to rectify that, while not resorting to 5-6 showings of the MLP movie, as has happened previously (1-2 showings is quite sufficient). I keep late hours on Fridays, and for the anons who do also I'm more than happy to serve, but I also want anons to have a chance to watch their favorite movies on a comfy stream with others. Please put some thought into it.
>>206778 >My concern is that in several instances anons have nominated and elected movies and the anons have been unable to see them, and I would like input on how to rectify that, I suppose one solution would be to hold the strawpoll earlier in the week to decide which three movies to see, and then provide a day or more for anons to voice concerns about the prospective schedule. A best effort attempt can then be made to resolve the conflict by either reorganizing the viewing order or dedicating the movie an agreeable time slot in a subsequent week.
>>206796 So perhaps, running the poll on Monday and concluding it on thursday might give more time to vote and more time to determine participation then?
This is a new film and looks promising. This is a film from a low-budget, private German production company who are making these films from the German viewpoint, and not Hollywood's. Except from anti-fascists, the film has good reviews in Germany, and now they want to market it worldwide for an English audience. >Lost in Klessin Film (English subtitles) by Peter Filmproduktion Deutschland. >The main story of Verloren in Klessin (Lost in Klessin) focuses on the events that took place near the river Oder in February/March 1945. While the Russians moved closer towards German home ground and towards Berlin, forces were drawn to Klessin, a small village located not far from a strategic crossing over the river Oder. At the same time refugees from former German territories already in Russian control pass the area. Captain von Stock and his battle group come upon a trek of refugees and aid them in finding shelter and rest before they continue their journey to the west. The narration alternates between the military and political events of the time and the deeply personal relationship between Captain von Stock and a small girl who lost her mother fleeing from the approaching Red Army.
>>207935 Yes of course there's movie night. The lack of strawpoll is addressed here. >>206778 In addition, because of the suggestions of >>206796 this anon and my response >>206797 here, and then thinking about it through the week, and thanks to all the other anons who have offered movie suggestions, here's what I'm going to do.
Fridays, after movie night, I'm going to put up the straw-poll so that both during the weekend and through the early part of the week they can be voted on. Then, either Tuesday or Wednesday the winners will be announced, so that anons can determine which movies they want to see, avoid the movies they don't want to see, and then lather, rinse, repeat after movie night is over.
>>207949 Additionally, selected movies can be vetoed by popular demand during the streams, as occurred with Serbian Movie, so if something that no one likes is playing, we're not forced to sit through it.
Movie room is open Https://www.rabbmit/ninjas You know what time it is. Time to pierce the heavens with your drill! Defy reason to make the impossible POSSIBLE! Tengen Toppa GURREN LAGANN! ORE O DARE DATTO MOTTE ARU!!! Show starts in about 15 minutes.
>>208017 Thanks again to everyone who participated in the best anime (movie) series of all time, and thanks again to anon who suggested our third feature, Jin Roh. Going forward, I'm going to leave the third feature open to the participants, while maintaining the vote for the first 2 movies. Strawpoll is up Version 2, as I forgot one of the movies for the listhttps://www.strawpoll.me/17530043
Akira wins 1st feature for movie night and second place is,... a tie, between Make Mine Mink, and Stalker. So fuck it, we'll do those as 2nd and third feature (I was gonna keep the 3rd feature open, but I didn't anticipate a tie.
Strawpoll is up for Friday's Movies Sorry, I spaced on it https://www.strawpoll.me/17586769 Dead Babies Sweeney Todd Gay Niggers from Outer Space Hacksaw Ridge Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 2001: A Space Odyssey Runaway Train 13th Warrior Starship Troopers Poll will close Thursday since I was a knob
Poll for Movie Night is up https://www.strawpoll.me/17642427 This week's choices are: Dead Babies Sweeney Todd Gay Niggers from Outer Space Hacksaw Ridge Runaway Train 13th Warrior Tropic Thunder Forbidden Planet
Forbidden Planet wins first feature, and we have a 3-way tie for 2nd/3rd between Sweeney Todd (not the Johnny Dep version), 13th Warrior, and Tropic Thunder. So, 2nd and 3rd feature will be determined by the stream participants! Hope to see you there.
Sorry folks, my boss is an asshole and made me work late so I'm pushing movie night back until 5:30pPST/8:30pEST. Room is open, there will be music playing until showtime (mostly so Rabbit doesn't go "Hey, you're not doing anything, we'll just close the room for you,... that's one of the lovely new features. At least they brought back the user ability to control the quality,...) Anyway, hope to see you. Furbideen Blaned is up first. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
Apologies to those who were unresponsive and found the room temporarily closed. Rabbit decided to fuck its self in the middle of Sweeney Todd, so we're going with an alternative. Please rejoin the server if you're so inclined.
Poll for next week is up https://www.strawpoll.me/17662062 Current Selections: Dead Babies Gay Niggers from Outer Space Hacksaw Ridge Runaway Train 13th Warrior Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht Trapped in a Closet Phone Booth the Man from Earth Das Boot Snowpiercer
>>213521 My apologies, I missed the mention of it. This post will be considered a vote for it however, and anons are welcome to post for it to be likewise considered in the voting tally
The first feature for tonight's movie night will be Das Boot. The 3-way tie for 2nd and 3rd for this week is 13th Warrior, the Man From Earth, and Snowpiercer. Movies are scheduled to start at 5pPST/8pEST.
>>214570 Thought of some movies for consideration for adding to list of future viewings. >Pet Sematary >Dolly Dearest >Happy Texas >The Prestige >Save The Green Planet (Korean 2003) >Suicide Circle (aka. Suicide Club)
In keeping with the theme we've been building I recommend the following films: The Ten Commandments (the 1923 silent film) Operation Petticoat Blackbeard's Ghost Swiss Family Robinson
First feature for tonight is Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht Second feature will be the War of the Worlds and its a tie for 3rd feature between Hacksaw Ridge and the Ten Commandments. Room opens in about 45 minutes, hope to see you there.
Holy shit Hacksaw Ridge is a good movie Ahem. Strawpoll for next week's movie night is up: https://www.strawpoll.me/17752211<-- check those digits And like an assclown, I forgot to include Norway's suggestions (for the second week in a row,... sorry anon). Anyway, here's the list: Dead Babies Gay Niggers from Outer Space Runaway Train Trapped in a Closet Phone Booth The Man from Earth The Ten Commandments (silent) Operation Petticoat Blackbeard's Ghost Swiss Family Robinson Sin City
>>215663 This is my favorite scene from Hacksaw Ridge. Spoilered to not spoil it for those who haven't seen the movie. It's more powerful when you've seen everything building up to it.
For those who are unaware, Hacksaw Ridge is a true story about a devoutly Christian medic during WW2 against the Japanese, who refuses to carry a weapon (I forget what "OC" means, its not Original Content/Creator though) and how he's one of the most glorious bastards who has ever lived.
In a 3-way tie, the movies for tonight will be: Gay Niggers From Outer Space Phone Booth and Sin City with a possible 4th feature, as Gay Niggers is a short film. Stream starts at 5pPST/8pEST
>>216508 Don't thank me, I'm late AF tonight. I'm gonna need to push the start of the movies back until around 6:00/9:00. Sorry, its been a fucking busy (but highly successful) day.
Gay Niggers From Outer Spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace! … starts whenever several people join, which considering how late I am, I will gladly wait. Sorry about that,…. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
This week's movie strawpoll is up: https://www.strawpoll.me/17827582 Dead Babies Runaway Train Trapped in a Closet The Man From Earth The Ten Commandments (silent) Operation Petticoat Blackbeard's Ghost Swiss Family Robinson Pet Sematary Dolly Dearest Happy Texas The Prestige Save the Green Planet Suicide Circle Sin City 2
>>217634 Alright, several ties tonight, but the three movies that managed to get the minimum thershold were: Pet Sematary The Prestige Sin City 2 https://www.rabb.it/ninjas Movies start in -10 minutes,... OH SHIT Movies start in maybe 10-15 minutes.
Strawpoll for Friday's movie night is up https://www.strawpoll.me/17870308 Dead Babies Runaway Train Trapped in a Closet The Man From Earth The Ten Commandments (silent) Operation Petticoat Blackbeard's Ghost Swiss Family Robinson Dolly Dearest Happy Texas Save the Green Planet Suicide Circle Dracula Untold
>>218990 Oh FFS, strawpoll is definitely having issues ATM, and on the spot IDK what to go with. For the time being, I'll watch and hope they fix their shit There's always 'spin the bottle'
Operation Petticoat takes a surprise lead for first feature tonight, and we have a 3-way tie for 2nd and 3rd feature between: Runaway Train Suicide Circle (Suicide Club) Dracula Untold
Tie will be broken by attendees, show starts at 5p/8pEST
I nominate: The Time Machine (1960) to complete the trilogy of great 50's sci-fi films
Scanners because it's a top-notch thriller
Seventh Fairy (七仙女) because foreign films are a nice twist and it's an innocent and cheerful fantasy reminiscent of MLP. I hope you don't mind subtitles.
I need to think of some new movies to suggest. Several of the movies that I've suggested have won the vote though, so I'm holding off because I want to watch things that I normally never would have watched.
>>220201 oh thank god. I was a bit busy doing some....stuff after work. Usually I have afternoon/night shifts but this past couple weeks it's been more unpredictable. Finally got time for stream fun!
>>220233 >>220234 The simplest solution would be for someone in the UK or some other timezone closer to Europe to host a movie night stream. Then anons who are available could tune in. You're not the first anon who has expressed dismay at the disparity of timezones due to the ocean between us.
I'd tune in to the EU stream if I were ever to find myself available, although given the time zone difference I probably wouldn't be able to show up the European movie night until the second or third feature.
>>220167 >>220169 >>220225 You guys,.... >fillypic >>220314 Its worth looking into though. I haven't heard any comments about Eurostreams in like a year, but if there's a demand (even just one or two) its worth looking into.
In the meantime, and because I really haven't had a whole lot of time to come up with something better in the interim, I'm gonna start with Upgrade. That isn't "The" first feature, its just what I'm gonna start playing in about ten minutes, and we can hash it out then. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
Thanks to everyone who attended this week's stream. It was entirely unplanned (the schedule that is), the movies were literally decided on the spot (except the ones that were sequels), but it was delightful and nostalgic (lots of old favorites). Sorry if I sperged too much about Metaphysics,... I do that. New strawpoll for the enduring and pursuant requests for next week. https://www.strawpoll.me/17932858
By vote, the three movies for tomorrow night's movie night will be: The Time Machine Scanners Swiss Family Robinson >>220584 Metaphysics is universally applicable. A person who is Christian can utilize the concepts just as much as a Pagan.
>>220584 The word “Metaphysics” is just a blanket term referring that branch of philosophical inquiry that asks questions about the nature of existence. It is not a point of view, it is a category under which many ideas and points of view fall. It’s kind of like ethics. There are many ethical doctrines that are not Christian and they are many that are Christian. Likewise, there are many metaphysical view points that are not Christian, and many that are. For instance, Thomistic metaphysics is one of the more well known Christian metaphysics, and there are others as well.
>>221260 I have no idea what that is supposed to mean, but I take it it means “I’ve commandeered the word for my own meaning and I don’t care.” I suspect the use here is to take the word by its literal translation as “beyond physics.” That is, to refer exclusively to those metaphysical theories that postulate the existence of a non-physical form of existence, which pretty much means everything except materialism. Metaphysical Naturalism (which is the technical name for pretty much all modern scientific Atheism), would be excluded from this (even though so far as I am concerned, Metaphysical Naturalism is still metaphysical). In this context I suspect the specific postulated non-materialist metaphysical doctrine is used as basically religion or a substitute for it, by trying to make conscious contact with the non-physical. In that case, “Mysticism” is the proper term.
>>221261 Me? I've done nothing of the sort. What I am doing has long since been done. If you wish to see it as a commandeering, so be it. One could say that there's an element of mysticism to it, but that would be a statement made in ignorance. What appears as mystical neglects the science behind it. Is the symbol of Pi significant without the understanding of its relation of circular dynamics? So it is with Metaphysics. On observation it looks like theatre and mysticism, but there is an underlying phenomenology to it.
>>221732 Seventh Fairy has been selected for 1st feature, with a r-way tie for 2nd and 3rd between Blackbeard's Ghost, The Party, and Runaway Train. So we'll figure that out when the time comes. Show starts at 5p/8p EST If the image is not the right movie, plz let me know
Its not just me that's having issues, though I am having issues. I've been having an intermittent problem with my PC, where it will connect to available networks but won't send or receive any data. I'm troubleshooting right now, but I make no promises. The issue occurred last night and it didn't resolve its self until sometime around 10p EST
>>222299 I'm using a laptop to connect to Wifi. I have 2 available wifi accounts, but the laptop registers as "Connected, No Internet" even though both connections are good.
>>222301 Negative. One router is actively functioning (I'm using it as we speak, but can't use this to run Rabbit cuz reasons), and the other is a mobile hotspot that I've been using ever since I started doing MLP and Movie night, without issue.
>>222300 That makes me suspect that the issue isn't with your laptop, but is instead with your router, your modem, or something further upstream. I'd reboot both the router and the modem if possible.
Can you attach your laptop to the router via an ethernet cable? This would rule out your laptop's wireless card as the problem.
>>222303 I assure you, the issue is with my laptop. There's several devices connected and operating on the Wifi right now. I've already tried connecting an Ethernet cable directly, and it gives the same result; Connected, No Internet.
Sorry I'm running so late, it took longer to help a guy transport 39 round bales of hay (no, not for hoerses, for caos) than I expected. I'm setting up the room now https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
Okay, so I've been thinking. I don't like the voting process. I understand the utility of it, but IMO its unnecessarily cumbersome. Anon nominates a movie they would like to watch, the movie competes with other movies, many/most of which are hold-overs from previous votes (some which have been on the list for MONTHS) and 3 movies are selected. I'm kind of thinking that's a little bit,... well unnecessary. For one there's a very consistent group of participants for Movie night, and for two that leads to the possibility of shit movies getting picked over not-shit movies. This past movie night was very telling, because I enjoyed the improptu videos that I might not have watched except for them being put up by johnny on the spot. I rather enjoy the unregulated nature, where the remote gets passed to whoever has an idea or whatever. What are (you)r thoughts?
Room is open, Outbreak starts soon, and I'm daring my mobile ISP to nerf my data, cuz I'm using it. And I can actually see this time (so far Xp) https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
>>225683 If I had anticipated any of this, I'd have brought my laptop and I would be camping on the free WiFi. Alas, I only have my shit blackberry ~_~
>>225746 Sorry to Everyponer who showed up, I Didn't mean to fall asleep last night. if anyone feels like watching more movies later i'd be happy to host again. as an apology for falling asleep.
Missed the last one, unfortunately, due to wifi issues while moving. I was going to use my phone but you need to download the Rabbit app to watch, and apparently Huawei blocks any use of Jewgle Play (probably a blessing in disguise). Looking forward to the next though!
Ninjas is having technical difficulties again, so I have a room up. He said the first movie should be one called In Time. I'll try to start the movie in about 20 minutes or so. https://www.rabb.it/StixFggt97
>>229720 We watched Scream, Day of the Triffids (old version), and Electroma (an artsy film completely without dialogue by Daft Punk). I think the last one scared away the entire audience except Poner.
Buttercup Honeydew is one of the least appreciated media critics of our generation.
Considering how we basically post on each thread once a week, it might be advantageous to combine the movie night, MLP night, and philosophy night threads into one Rabbit thread. We'll get more activity this way, me thinks.
>>231738 Used to be a think on /üb/. Because it was on /üb/ very few knew of it, let alone checked every Thursday. It would be interesting to bring it back.
Alright, history lesson. Back in the early days of Mlpol.net, there were 4 scheduled media nights. Monday was Philosophy night, and tended to include material of a 'get your shit together' variety. Philosophy, psychology, and other generative and productive subjects and areas of inquiry were presented. Tuesday was Anime night, where a featured anime was shown until completion. Anime night was the first night to be dropped, but not due to interest/participation. Wed is/was obv. MLP night, and Friday is obv. Movie night.
Anime night originally fell off because the anon running it was having scheduling complications. In addition, there were some shenanigens to do with the series voting. Philosophy night just kinda died off because I've been unable to maintain the schedule I did ~ a year ago, and either don't have time to do a stream, or on the rare instance I do I would forget about it completely.
The problem with Philosophy night is that its at the beginning of the week, and there was little participation. Additionally, anons disagree about what is thought-provoking and developmental.
>>231759 I have to admit I'm guilty as charged for not attending philosophy night much, but when I did it was nice. It's easy to set up in any case, just put a livestream from someone (Academic Agent just had a good one) and discuss it a bit in chat.
Our second movie was "Eyes Wide Shut." It's a shockingly degenerate film (nothing new for (((Kubrick)))), but presents a barely-veiled look at what the connected elite do. It's also an adaptation of a (((Weimar))) book: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dream_Story
Just a few days ago a review was posted of the film. Might be a good opportunity to redpill people on the JQ: www.youtube.com/watch?v=23akblYxUz0
>>232067 I wish Buttercup Honeydew watched movies with us, he'd be fun to talk the symbolism over with. Plus, with the Epstein case it's a perfect time for him to write a review on that particular film.
>>232711 The kikes and their golems are very reluctant to name the jew by its name "JEW"; so, they use euphemisms, word filters, and all kind of workarounds and proxies to not let the humans notice the Jew presence or activity. It is very possible that the original pic is sourced at /leftypol/ or similar, for its denial to name the jew and because they can't meme and steal from /pol/.
It seems like this rabb.it site might go down soon. https://www.reddit.com/r/RabbitReddit/comments/c8tnjr/the_future_of_rabbit/ >inb4 reddit Basically, investor pulled out, staff was given so little time to leave that there wasn't time to pull the plug off everything. Rabbit is now a walking corpse, eventually it'll break and nobody will be there to fix it. I've looked into the alternatives, but there seems to be no website that works in similiar way Rabbit worked (Virtual Machine controled by users). Anyway, here are some options. >Cytube + streaming service from picrel I don't think any of those sites allow copyrighted content + we would need someone reliable with good internet bandwith. >Cytube + Google Drive Probably our safest bet. All media needs to be first put on the drive, eliminating that dynamic movie selection we had. We would need to discuss what we watch in the thread beforehand.
We don't have to switch ASAP, but it would be good to be prepared.
>>232792 Hopefully an viable alternative will pop up when the need arises. Hopefully the movie and mlp stream will find a way to continue without too much hassle.
>>233999 But a problem just showed up, at least just for me. Before there was an addon for Chrome which perhaps would let me use it in the Chromium browser, but now is gone and only the desktop client is offered, and not a version for Linux is available. Also the app for phones is gone, but because I don't use smartphones, so, I least for me is irrelevant.
>>234209 As Far as i know, there's a way to be able to watch in your browser. someone would post the link to the room then you put that in your search bar, so you should be ok.
I don't know if Ninjas or anyone else had plans to host movie night this saturday, but if not, I set up some movies that we could watch on cytube. They're all on Google Drive, 1080p + subtitles for non-english native people in here. I kinda took the liberty to choose those movies, so sorry about that. If you have any suggestions, I can add them.
>>238725 We're currently experimenting with Kast and Cytube as streaming platforms. The former is aids, and the latter is cancer. We're evaluating which is a better method to die by.
>>238746 You can try the app if you want to go that route. But it is a shame how much power Google have gotten on the internet. Chrome has become the new IE with its own set of HTML elements that is outside the specifications.
>>238745 Is there a trick to joining the stream? I've joined the group but from there I don't see an option to join any streams, it just keeps asking me to join the group.
>>238755 What is your username and I can try to send new invite (I don't see any new requests) (you can post in report if you don't want to make it public).
>>238757 Shame there is so much problems with Kast. I am not sure what its problem is. It says you are member of group so I'm not sure why it won't allow you to join it to watch.
Going to do the movie stream this evening, and plan to start in about an hour. I have not made any plans as things went astray when the rabbit stepped out of the hole and died. So if you have suggestions for movies please feel free to suggest as usual.
Addio Africa – An Italian documentary about the decolonization of Africa. Subs are superior to dubs. Nonfiction but a good redpill. Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) – Classic adventure sci-fi based on the Jules Verne novel Grand Slam (1967) – An intense heist to steal $10 million in diamonds from a Brazil bank Dirty Harry – The iconic cop movie starring Clint Eastwood
>>239679 All good choices I presume. Any one of those you would put above the others? I tend to lean towards the three latter as I assume Adios Africa is a bit more heavy digestible than the others. And feel like light entertainment should be on the menu.
>>239682 Mad Max is also good, do you mean number 1 in the series before the "world ends" or number 2 after the world has "ended"?
>>239684 Journey to the Center of the Earth is a long film and takes a while to build up, so watch it if you want a /comfier/ experience rather than action-packed.
Grand Slam is suspenseful and has good characterization; heavy action is only at the end.
I've never seen Dirty Harry nor Mad Max. I always thought that Mad Max transitions to the world ending with something like Lisa: the Painful.
>>239725 We were only two and it was quiet on all fronts, so we decided we should try again today to see if more people would join. Going to stream a bit later (hour or two, or whatever fits best) continuing with the Mad Max series and streaming "Max Max 2: The Road Warrior".
>>239884 >I didn't try hard enough Not quite about how hard, but the search engine. Yandex can give a lot of search results that would never pop up in western engines. >>239886 On my way.
It was a good stream, the host performed superb and Bitwave looked well suited. After Mad Max the next feature was an Australian movie called Bad Boy Bubby, a bit disturbing and meant for social commentary.
>>240803 The current schedule for Movie night is IDFK By that I mean, there are a couple anons who are exploring a variety of options as they are able, and there is no set structure. There are rumblings of a possible stream tonight, but that's not confirmed as of yet
So which of these streaming services was least shit? I've got some time off at the end of October, and I'd like to host a Halloween movie night. I'm trying to get a feel about what kind of prepwork that I'll need to prepare, and I don't want to re-invent the wheel.
>>247063 On the user end the best success has been from Bitwave. On an operator end, it requires OBS to stream, and the operator will nead a stream-key which should be pretty easy to get. The downside is that it doesn't allow the user to change the video quality, which may impede users with throttled internet connections.
>>247120 Well I guess it would be the hollywood jews rather than the cianiggers. Don't they like to make examples of people that they catch with ludicrous fines? I thought that there was a distinction between watching a stream and distributing the content. In the rabbit room streams, we all were viewing the content provided by various websites that were hosting the content.
I guess they mostly go after torrents that distribute the content in bulk though, rather than trolling streams. I am a paranoid man who likes to think thrice before acting.
>>247157 Right on point. After 8cuck went out of action, there are plenty of idle individuals looking for dirt in places before untouched. It's time to rest for a while.
>>247157 I think if you stream using VPN you should be safe and hidden so hollywood can't find you (hiding behind one proxy should be adequate for that purpose).
