>>192542At least 90% of the time, yes. These weepy zombies gravitate towards the show because they crave comfort, and nothing is more comforting to them than the lie that you can be a Glimmer-tier cunt and never get criticized for it or get asked to change.
When fans criticize a certain character who embodies the "Cunts getting rewarded for being cunts" problem the show picked up over time(Even though she didn't start the phenomenon, she was just its biggest symptom), those fans aren't just insulting something normal like a "fucking this character" fantasy, they're insulting the "acting like this character or worse and getting away with it/rewarded for it" fantasy they live for.
In this situation(Seeing a character you like get criticized), a normal fan of a shit/evil character would do nothing and move on. Or take it personally and go full faggot.
If told to justify one's love for an evil/shit character, a reasonable fan will say "Yeah, she's evil. That makes her sexier!" or "I know she's shit/evil, but it's fiction so I'm allowed to like this stuff" or "Yeah, she's badly written. She's better written in my headcanon!" or even "Yeah, she's a shit character. She's been rewritten/been forced through character development and growth in my headcanon!", reasonable things like that. Even if he doesn't admit he has one of these reasons, at least one of these reasons is what makes the character tolerable in his mind.
A "Fan" (I call them Babyfans) in it for the goodfeels he feels when an evil character "acts up" and gets away with it/gets rewarded for it feels """agitated""" when the fantasy is threatened with a reminder that real humans will never consider Discord/Glimmer/Trixie/Whoever's behaviour okay/charming/exemplary.
This is why they react in such a volatile manner to what's honestly completely normal for a fandom("This character is the worst!" "X is best waifu!" "No Z is the best!" "Itachi could stomp Broly!" "Akechi is my bae! Kawaii dess!" "Akechi is a fucking murderer whose last-second redemption was almost as shit as his writing!" "Chatot character pissed me off in Y scene!" talk).
They're in "Fandoms" so they can feel like their actual hugbox circlejerk is bigger than it is. When confronted with evidence that conflicting opinions and scaaaary conflict exists in what they wish was a natural extension of their hugbox where conflict is banned, they get mad.
Oh, and there are "Pretenders" who pretend to be retarded in this manner. They pretend to be these babies for the sake of starting and enjoying fights. You'd think pretending to be a conflict-hating baby would create less conflict, but most of these babies have this stupid "How dare you offend me! How very dare you! Now say you're sorry and say I'm right, or I'm gonna go call a mod because you're violating Rule Zero: Be Civil!" tone and a legitimate mental illness-tier basically-a-bigger-toddler laziness when it comes to considering the views of others.
>>193362Yes, yes, I know a true patrician bases his views on individual episodes, and a bad ep doesn't magically become good if it's in a shit season. Thanks for admitting season 8 is shit tho.
I don't think there's any argumentative legitimacy in any "Best character" debate, I think there's fun to be had in having that debate, and I think people who want the debate called off because their waifu is as shit as their lefty political views are turbo faggots.
