I figured that I'd explain why some threads are being deleted and some users are being banned, because we don't like leaving you guys in the dark about these things.
So, if you've been gone for a bit, we were recently spammed so hard all of our content has been pruned. Luckily, thanks to our amazing community and development staff, we are working towards ensuring that this never happens again.
In the meantime however, we will be banning the raiders that have targeted our website. These raiders use tactics that make their threads look legitimate, so if your thread is / was accidentally removed recently, we are sorry. If you are accidentally banned, we are also sincerely sorry for that.
If you have been banned accidentally, simply use the appeal form located on your ban page. We check the appeals page regularly.
If you would like to help out, please report any obviously rule-breaking post that you see. Your reports help us get to rule-breaking content faster and easier.
Again, sorry for any accidental ban hammer swings.
Thanks for the hard work, guys.
>>18585>workbut we do it for free :^)
>>18561Awesome, so this is what it's like to have moderates who care
>>18585It's not work if it makes you giggle
>>18592That reminds me, I was going to try to whip up some moon mare tracks.
>>18600I'd buy that for a dollar!
>>18600Great its been forever since I listened seen a new one. I was just on 4pol talking to someone about how there aren't a lot of moonman songs anymore. Sad that they went down but thats what happens when reddit normies take over the board.
>>18610Yeah, it sucks how a lot of the Moon Man videos got shoa'd. There's a forum of autists called Moon Central dedicated to the archival of Moon Man videos and music, so you may want to give them a whirl if you really wanna listen to some Moon Man music. There's also an unofficial wiki on Wikia that has some download links IIRC.
>>18613Ty. I miss some of the old/pol/ memes and its nice to see that they are still alive.
>>18602>>18604Yeah, I can't take credit for the idea, some guy on 8chan mlpol thought it up and posted like a 30 second clip. But I think it's fantastic and needs to happen, completely forgot about it until I saw that image. I might get on that if I have some down time tomorrow.
>>18613>>18610>>18615Yeah I've wanted to get into making them for a while, I make music as a hobby occasionally anyway and I've already done some poo poo pee pee type tracks using text to speech voices so I feel like it's something I'd be good at.
By the way, Atlas just got the images from the archive working. Turns out we still had them.
So, go grab your images from your old threads, everypony!!!!
>>18561I wondered why "Unique posters" dropped from 700+ to 313.
Guess these fags are stepping up their game.
>>18653At this point I think they have a botnet or a shitload of proxies or something. Them having proxies doesn't make much sense though because the bulk of the spam appears to be coming from standard home ISPs or mobile carriers. What's odd is how they're able to switch carriers so quickly, because these carriers are in different nations from what I can tell.
I know that we have multiple spammers attacking us, but it would appear to be one person based on what this person is posting. Maybe it's multiple people with the same posting style? I don't know.
>>18659Clarification: One person spamming nigger hate threads.
I am very impressed that almost every thread already has a link to the archive by now.
You guys are awesome!
>>18668To be fair that was all the kind work of someone who cares about the community. Us moderators had no part in the archive linking / restoration of those threads. Although several of us really want that guy on the team! All credits belong to him.
>>18668We can't take credit for that. It was a user anon who stayed up all night long to rebuild the catalog. We have the absolute best anons here!
>>18669>>18670There impressive dedication from mods and users.
It reminds me of this image.
Have you thought about a cooldown for thread creation for IPs or global?
The more threads are being created the longer you have to wait to make a new one.
something like
>Your thread could not be deleted due to flood protection. >Please try again in a few minutes.
Like if the amount of threads created rises quickly there is a cooldown or a mod has to take a look at the thread before it is displayed.
>>18659One individual, "GR15 Defense Force," a /jp/sie with a bit of a bump on the head, has claimed credit for the series of spam attacks. You can tell he spams regularly too. However I would not be surprised if there is a bot now
https://desuarchive.org/qa/thread/1261832/#q1262538_8 >>18649A bot makes a lot of sense. It would explain why the incoming stream of spam is so steady and so low. Some users have recomended a captcha to post a thread (but not to post a reply). If the captcha were a once a day per IP thing like 8chan's, it would also stop the bots and slow down a proxy poster. Maybe we could implement that?

Maybe we could implement that? What if they solve the captcha one manually and then launch the bot?
>>18768Then the bot is banned once and can't be used again from the same IP. They'd have to solve the captcha for each new IP. At that point, you may as well just launch it manually
>>18561You don't like leaving us in the dark about things? Man I really have left /mlp/. I mean the mods are actually communicating!
>>18862We love this site as much as any pony! The last thing we want is for a divide to happen between staff and other anons.
>>18864Well I thank you. One of the biggest pet peeves about the pony board on 4chan is the mods will mass ban and give us literally no explanation at all. So this helps a lot. Keep up the good work and long live the white unicorn race.
>>18561Make sure your admin(s) check their contact mail today.
(UR WAIFU A SHIT) I keep trying to answer a question but it keeps telling me I look like a bot. Reformatted a couple times and even completely rewrote, and it's not working.
>>18926Yea Im getting this too. To be fair I used 'Thrackerzod' so maybe I had it coming
>>18929Did you get an email from us anon?
>>18929Okay, many questions. Why does my innocuous and normal response to thread "look like bot." Why do we have captcha for normal replies when the problem is limited to new threads? Why do I have to wait 30 minutes to delete my error post? Why does it say "you seem to have mistyped the verification" when I can make out absolutely no difference. Why do I have to put in catcha for every single reply when we've had no problem with automated replies and PONE only requires you to do it once
Already managed to get banned, unbanned and get the messages that I looked like a bot. Just a typical evening (it's 9 pm in Russia) on /mlpol/. Eugh.
>>18931Yes! I just have some in real life stuff to do and I'm available this afternoon!
Also ignore the whiny-ness of the above post
>>18932we're working on making the capcha only for new threads atm, not sure what the 30min wait is, but the damage done last night was caused by someone posting tons of threads via botnet and then deleting them before we could ban all the IP addresses
recapcha is stupid and we're working on an alternative
wtf is pone?
>>18936pone is an 8chan mlp page. It's kind of similar to mlpol.
>>18907Where do you think you are?
test
>>18939 thanks for letting me know
you no longer have to use capcha to post a reply, we're removing the actual input bit but it does nothing on reply
>>18941Can you check the reports please?
>>18931Can you check the reports pretty please?
Testing to see if captcha exists on replies or not
>>18962Actual picture of Ponymoot
(YOUR BLANK POSTING POWERS MEAN NOTHING TO ME)
>>19184>>19184Competent mods. This is a warm feeling.
I've just checked the ban page…
WHAT THE FUCK!?
>>19442Yeah, they had a lot of IPs they could post from.
