Some other moderators thought it would be appropriate to make this thread, so here we are.
I figured that I'd explain why some threads are being deleted and some users are being banned, because we don't like leaving you guys in the dark about these things.
So, if you've been gone for a bit, we were recently spammed so hard all of our content has been pruned. Luckily, thanks to our amazing community and development staff, we are working towards ensuring that this never happens again.
In the meantime however, we will be banning the raiders that have targeted our website. These raiders use tactics that make their threads look legitimate, so if your thread is / was accidentally removed recently, we are sorry. If you are accidentally banned, we are also sincerely sorry for that.
If you have been banned accidentally, simply use the appeal form located on your ban page. We check the appeals page regularly.
If you would like to help out, please report any obviously rule-breaking post that you see. Your reports help us get to rule-breaking content faster and easier.
Again, sorry for any accidental ban hammer swings.

Yeah, it sucks how a lot of the Moon Man videos got shoa'd. There's a forum of autists called Moon Central dedicated to the archival of Moon Man videos and music, so you may want to give them a whirl if you really wanna listen to some Moon Man music. There's also an unofficial wiki on Wikia that has some download links IIRC.

Yeah, I can't take credit for the idea, some guy on 8chan mlpol thought it up and posted like a 30 second clip. But I think it's fantastic and needs to happen, completely forgot about it until I saw that image. I might get on that if I have some down time tomorrow.

Yeah I've wanted to get into making them for a while, I make music as a hobby occasionally anyway and I've already done some poo poo pee pee type tracks using text to speech voices so I feel like it's something I'd be good at.

At this point I think they have a botnet or a shitload of proxies or something. Them having proxies doesn't make much sense though because the bulk of the spam appears to be coming from standard home ISPs or mobile carriers. What's odd is how they're able to switch carriers so quickly, because these carriers are in different nations from what I can tell.

Have you thought about a cooldown for thread creation for IPs or global?
The more threads are being created the longer you have to wait to make a new one.
something like

Like if the amount of threads created rises quickly there is a cooldown or a mod has to take a look at the thread before it is displayed.

If the captcha were a once a day per IP thing like 8chan's, it would also stop the bots and slow down a proxy poster. Maybe we could implement that?

Then the bot is banned once and can't be used again from the same IP. They'd have to solve the captcha for each new IP. At that point, you may as well just launch it manually

Well I thank you. One of the biggest pet peeves about the pony board on 4chan is the mods will mass ban and give us literally no explanation at all. So this helps a lot. Keep up the good work and long live the white unicorn race.

I keep trying to answer a question but it keeps telling me I look like a bot. Reformatted a couple times and even completely rewrote, and it's not working.

Already managed to get banned, unbanned and get the messages that I looked like a bot. Just a typical evening (it's 9 pm in Russia) on /mlpol/. Eugh.

we're working on making the capcha only for new threads atm, not sure what the 30min wait is, but the damage done last night was caused by someone posting tons of threads via botnet and then deleting them before we could ban all the IP addresses
