What's the deal with leftist academia and idealizing the Paris Commune to such a ridiculous extent?

Whenever I read about the Commune it comes across as massive failure and a bloody clusterfuck of retarded delusional degenerates throwing a massive temper tantrum. But reading quasi-intellectual articles and essays about it online it's portrayed as this "be its time" positive force for good that was prematurely crushed by the evil capitalist patriarchy.
