Police are responding to a report of an active shooter with victims at the Capital Gazette newspaper building in Annapolis, Maryland. An intern at the newspaper, Anthony Messenger, tweeted, “Active shooter 888 Bestgate please help us,” about 2:40 p.m. on Thursday.

I think the main reason is that it is an happening that already ended. If I understand it correctly it took the Police 60 seconds to respond, and he was apprehended shortly after that.
No motive is released. But it is perhaps been strangely quiet about identity of shooter and all that. This makes me believe it was a disgruntle employee or husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend that went on a little rampage. That or it was a local person holding a personal grudge towards the news station for destroying his life/livelihood.

Apparently the suspect is a white man in his 20s.
He used a shotgun in the shooting.
He damaged his fingertips to avoid identification.
He is not cooperating with police with identification.
