>>146404I would hope I would have something better to do with my life than work to spread whatever ideology in obscure places. It's just not exactly what I had in mind for "what do I hope to accomplish before I die." I guess it might matter exactly what I am shilling though.
For my ideology? Sure, there wouldn't be a conflict of interest. Against? There are some things money can't buy.
Why are you even asking?
>>146404Shilling is subversive and duplicitious. Have some dignity anon
>>146406>Why are you even asking?A friend might be able to hook me up with a part time job and I need the shekels. The outfit isn't too far off from what I believe, and it may be interesting to see how these things work on the inside.
>>146408>duplicitousHow so?
>>146411Go for it. The knowledge of political organization could be invaluable.
>>146411Like what kind of operation is this?
>>146414Libertarian, anti (liberal) government activism. Not going to give the name away, as that might give
me away.
>>146415What kind of activism though?
>>146404Wouldn't ever shill my own ideology, as that would imply the value of the word, of the idea, has a price tag attached.
Now, the opponent's ideology, on the other hand? Oh, I'd shill that heavily, all while lifting some Jewish tricks for myself, pulling in their dough while playing them like a fiddle, leaking internal details to the other side. Hey, if they were dumb enough to hire me on, they deserve nothing less.
>>146418Taxes seem to be their focus. While I haven't actually gone for the interview or anything, it seems they would want me to use twitter to "correct" and bully pro tax people.
>>146428Well now you're describing paid
trolling which is perfectly acceptable
>>146428Do it and tell us their secrets.
>>146429>paid trollingPlease correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't a shill some one who pushes an idea because they are paid?
>>146430Exactly what I was thinking.
>>146411By definition, shilling is the act of someone acting as a disinterested third party championing aan ideology/product or anything else really. It's a dishonest sales strategy because you are not being truthful about your product/ideology, it is not being sold or adopted based on its merit, but on deceiving a target audience.
Say I was selling you a product I claim increases your virility by an order of magnitude when it really doesn't, in order to make this product more appealing, I pay someone to testify that it really does work as advertised and that they are not affiliated with me in any way. Both claims are obviously false, but it takes advantage of the dynamic between trend setters and trend followers, "Well if it worked for him, I might as well try it myself!".
Merit is all that matters, if we can't sway someone with clear, concise arguments and proof that can be crosschecked, than what is the point? How are we any better than those
fucks touting communism as the best thing since sliced bread?
>being paid
>going against your ideals
I shiggy diggy.
>>146404I am 100% against weed and the legalization of it and vote against it in EVERY ballot it comes on. But at the same time I have stock in multiple medical marijuana companies. I am a weak man and enjoy my money too much to NOT invest in it.
>>146404Honestly, I might shill if the money is good enough. After they stop paying, I would near certainly reveal that there is a shilling operation because I find them sketchy (possibly while shilling if they have poor surveillance). But if I could get any other reasonable job, I would probably do that.
>>146460It's actually a pretty ancient concept. In old-time medicine shows where a guy would be trying to sell some bullshit elixir that's supposed to cure diseases or whatever, he'd always have a couple of plants in the audience whose job was to stand up and mention how great the elixir was, as if they were just random citizens who happened to be passing by.
Absolutely not.
If I was "shilling" it would have to be for something I actually believe in. At that point it wouldn't be shilling but rather telling people about something I actually think is good/cool.
I won't even buy games that are published by companies I don't like, even if the game itself looks good. I just go without it until someone else buys it for me.
>>146404Only if the money was good and the ideology wasn't too rancid. I have limits.
