>>144939 I think that it's mostly just territory observing the timezone of its local capitol regardless of if the territory sits outside of the geographical timezone.
That's how it looks at a glance. The lines are straight in international waters, but then start hugging the borders of assorted territories as it snakes its way across land.
>>144953 It just looks like a complete and total mess to me. Arbitrarily divided up, many times not even following territorial borders. Just look at the US and how many states are split between two different time zones despite there being no reason to do so, or how there are places in Siberia where you can completely skip over one.
>>144955 A lot of it is probably tradition and human stubbornness where the lines may have initially made more sense when initially adopted, but then the territory's lines may have been redrawn due to war or legislative reasons. The locals may have simply kept the same time zone that they were accustomed to using because they couldn't be arsed to change anything and nobody gave a fuck about maps.
>>144963 I agree, but you need to put yourself in the shoes of a lazy bureaucrat. Why go through the effort of changing things when you could just not?
>>148709 Find one that works as well as rabbit and is as easy to get content for and we will move to it. Right now Rabbit is the best we have Cytube requires the direct files so it limits us on what we can stream, watch together limits you to a small amount of people and a single person doesn't have control so it is chaos. Right now Rabbit is flawed but sadly the best thing we have.
>>161198 Heyo I am the stream runner sorry about the gap last week I had an eye infection and my left eye was swollen and inflamed so I canceled the stream so I could rest. The stream is returning at it's normal time here at 3pm PST so in about an hour and a half.
What if we made a board where we streamed MLP S1 every week and pretended this was a new show we'd never seen before, and were slowly starting to love? Then, at some arbitrary community-chosen point, the show "Suddenly ends" and we all pretend that season finale of choice was also the show's finale. Fanfic that would have been allowed early-on but now breaks (((Hasbro's))) canon can be posted there, too.
The weekly MLP stream returns this wednesday starting at 3pm PST. The first stream will feature all the Hearths Warming episodes, and the following week will start from S1E1.
Almost unintelligible and self-depricating stream of curses My apologies for not making it for the stream tonight. I was attending to personal matters that were both unavoidable and time sensitive. I'll do one tomorrow at 3p PST. Cursing intensifies
>>195958 It doesn't have to be 3pm, that's just the general time its always been. AFAIK no one has objected to that time, but I only took this on recently. The main reason for that timing is in an attempt to accommodate both east and west coast, but if it were preferred to be an hour or two later, it wouldn't be a problem.
>>195963 Thanks for to try to accommodate the schedule, but my timing is not fixed, therefore I will do my best to reach the stream. If God Wills It, of course.
>>198754 Jesus christ, what idiot said that time. I very clearly typed 5pm PST, 8p EST No, I'm serious. I thought to myself "Is 4/7 a good time? It went well last time, and we went 5/8" Its supposed to be 5/8!! That said, Mlp in about 45 minutes.
Sorry to everyone, but it seems that rabbit has died for the moment. I can only think of one other time this has happened. The last episode was the Foto Finish episode, and assuming that rabbit doesn't come back online in the next 10 minutes or so, I'm going to assume that the night has been called on account of shitty free-web programs (implicit props to germanon) and we'll start there next week.
Tonight's MLP stream starts with e21 (the Apploosa/Buffalo episode), and is scheduled to conclude with s2e2. Stream starts at 5p PST/8p EST. Room will open about 1/2 hour early.
>>201938 Yeah, that was fun, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I can't take any credit for the after-MLP shows though, that was all you guys. Plus it was nice to make some new friends, and BTFO'ing that one troll was an added bonus. >>201941 We actually didn't watch the movie this time,... probably on friday tho. >>201942 We finished with s2e11
>>201943 For those who missed it, a 17y/o nog (by his own admission) came in and thought he was going to hurt the 'bronies' feelings by calling them names. It was rather hilarious.
>>201941 The problem the movie had was that it tried to follow a Disney style script, where you've got a main character who goes on a hero's journey type quest. MC is introduced in the beginning as just an ordinary guy living his ordinary life, something happens that thrusts him into a situation where he has to go on a quest, the quest happens, he meets characters along the way who help him, some kind of tragedy usually happens at some point where he fucks up somehow, then he redeems himself, fights the villain, the day is saved, and usually the story ends with the hero marrying the princess or something. A good story format that never gets old no matter how many times you use it, and imo the movie actually did a pretty good job with it for the most part, aside from some minor hiccups. The trouble is, a story like that doesn't really work as well when you've got six separate characters fulfilling the role usually filled by one protagonist.
To their credit, I think the writers did initially try to give each character something to do. Twilight, as one might expect, took on most of the "hero" role. You'll also notice that each friend they make along the way sort of "fits" one particular character and forms more of a bond with that character than they do with the others: Rarity/Capper, Pinkie Pie/Princess Skystar, Rainbow Dash/the pirates, Twilight/Tempest. I'm guessing the idea during the planning stage of the film was that each pony gets to make a new friend.
Unfortunately, trying to do that for six characters is probably a little ambitious for a 90 minute movie, so as usual, the writers just pushed the characters they couldn't do anything with into the background. It's pretty well documented at this point that they have some kind of progressive hateboner for AJ, so she naturally got fucked over as usual, and Fluttershy just kind of spends the movie being Fluttershy in the background. Maybe she just needed to be more assertive and demand a bigger role.
>>201947 I would have liked to see a longer Canterlot siege/liberation, the Chrysalis take-over did left me expecting a far well-arranged one in this movie, but anyway.
>>203322 >host left leaving the remote to suspicious suckup >suckup and others start sharing faggoty normie memes >not sure if suckup then left or gave it away intentionally >literal gay ass porn >kek at how it all went to shit in under 5 mins went about as well as could be expected
God dammit! This is why I asked for volunteers! I hoped someone who I could rely on would say something, but noooo, this new guy did. I come back 30 min later and the stream is dead (and gladly so, given what I'm seeing). Stream ended on s2e18 It could have continued, in fact I came back to continue it, but apparently people can't resist being insufferable fags, and the only responsibility I take is for thinking that people could control themselves. Lesson learned. e\\_/e
>>203328 No need to apologize, the fault is mine. I'm opting for default rule A. So, it will be at least 1 (probably 3) showings of the movie for the rest of the night
>>203332 There was another guy too. I should have recorded their name, but they were the ones with the avatar of some autistic looking hispanic girl's face. I was sifting through some stuff in another tab, and then when I came back flamebolt was gone and this other person was abusing the remote.
>>203346 Sorry, thanks for coming. With recent changes to rabbit, that's only forcing me to find a better alternative (again, props to germanon) Soon. Take care!
>>203348 I wouldn't hold my breath. In the meantime, some anons asked about the stream. I linked them to the horsepussy thread. They left for some reason, IDK. XDDDDDD
MLP stream continues tonight, starting with s2e19. We'll definitely do the s2 Changeling finale, and possibly the s3 premiere. Hope you can make it, show starts at 5pPST/8pEST
>>201947 I think its time to address this one. As you mention its not a Disney-style script its a heroes journey (read: story/theme that surpasses time immemorial), but one that involves an established 6-pony group rather than an individual. The movie starts with everyone doing what they do best in and for Equestria and if you think about it, this is more bookworm-Twilight than is often seen in the series at this point (it takes places post season 7) than has been seen since she got her wings. I see your point on not everypony having something to do, but that's because the circumstances that would make sense for a character to contribute to were easily or readily applied. Yes, Appul and Flutters took a less significant role overall, but that's because their talents were less appreciable in context. You can blame that on writing but in a world-building sense how else could it be applied? Unless there was a montage about working hard and exerting discipline Appul doesn't have much to show for cuz that's her thing. Through her example in the show the characters have become more honest, and honesty definitely played a subtle roll in the movie (over the course, if not at certain moments; there was deception certainly). Or take Flutters,... even in the show she is more of a passive roll, was this to be any different. Realize that while catering to established audiences, the point of the movie was to try and market the toys series to a new audience that didn't know them. Even if some ponies did more or less, you can't say you didn't get a goo glimpse of each pony in theirenvironment, and lets' face it, honesty/discipline (Appul) and compassion/kindness (Flutters) are not attributes that are easily marketed to children. As far as the storyline as a whole I think you're being a little too demanding. Everypony played a part in the Canterlot siege, though obvious emphasis was given to the newcomers (which the new audience knows just as well as the established ponies, so no surprise there). Going back to the heroes journey, it makes sense that Twilight was the one who fell to the 'dark side' (relatively speaking) because lets not forget, Twilight was one willing to put a curse ('enchantment') on her rag-doll because she needed to (create and then) solve a problem in ponyville. Let's not pretend that Twilight always acts on the up and up, but this is a context in which her occasionally duplicitous actions blew up in her face. Additionally, she got a chance to encounter a pony who through totally different circumstances had long since gone over to the dark side, and it was only through her ability to comprehend that decision (having flirted with such a decision herself, both in the series and in the movie) could she appreciate, understand, and bridge the gap to said Fizzlepop. The movie is full of classic themes, including Celestia hinting at what is going to happen long before it does, has all manner of cameos INCLUDING Anonfilly, and of course it presents the best pony Songbird Serenade, don't test me on this one in a delightful yet humble manner that doesn't impose on other ponies through the majority of the movie or the series. I'm sorry, but I don't see how you could appreciate the movie for what it is and attempts to do (and does so splendidly) and maintain criticism of it. And if you do, you just haven't watched it with other anons and shitposted the whole time. Its much better that way. I haven't nearly exhausted myself in this diatribe, so please challenge me on this
I like songbird seranade, but I like derpy more. She's a good pony who pulled a secret service move to protect twilight. She deserves a medal of bravery for that.
>>204600 I think you may have misinterpreted a few of my points.
>As you mention its not a Disney-style script its a heroes journey (read: story/theme that surpasses time immemorial), but one that involves an established 6-pony group rather than an individual. What I actually said is that it DOES attempt to follow a Disney-style script, which is a format that generally more or less follows the monomyth or hero's journey (ie Aladdin, the Lion King, etc). My point was that this format doesn't work as well when you have six characters simultaneously following the same journey, because you either have six characters splitting the role of hero between themselves, or you give the hero role to one characters and then you have to find something for the other five to do. I feel like what they actually tried to do was a combination of both: Twilight clearly assumes (or attempts to assume) the hero's role, but ultimately learns that problems are easier to solve when you rely on your friends.
All I was really trying to point out is that when you try to do a Hero's Journey story in a 90 minute movie format with six heroes, it's hard to balance it so that each of the six characters gets adequate screen time. In this case, Fluttershy and Applejack wound up being the ones who got shorted. I don't necessarily fault the movie for this since as I mentioned it would have been extremely difficult to make a feature-length movie that gave each character their own story arc. I do, however, think it's worth noting that Applejack is the character who was given the least amount of screen time, considering that the movie was written by Megan McCarthy. Feel free to correct me if I'm remembering this wrong, but as I recall in the leaked internal Hasbro emails from last year, McCarthy was one of the writers who was vocally complaining that Applejack was too much of a hick and she didn't like writing her. My suspicion is that this is why Applejack got pushed into the background and I think it's worth pointing out.
>I'm sorry, but I don't see how you could appreciate the movie for what it is and attempts to do (and does so splendidly) and maintain criticism of it. My intention was not to denigrate the movie. I own the Blu-ray and watch it periodically, I've also sat in on streams with other anons and shitposted throughout as you've suggested. It's a good movie and they did a good job with it. However, the fact that you like something shouldn't place it above criticism. It's possible to enjoy something and still assess its strengths and weaknesses through an objective lens, in fact I greatly enjoy taking things I like and subjecting them to intense criticism.
Overall I think a fair assessment of the movie is that it was good, but not fantastic. Some of its shortcomings were unavoidable, like the issue with some characters got shortchanged on screen time as I explained. Some of its other problems, however, could have been handled better. For instance, I don't think the Storm King was a particularly well-developed character and I found him kind of meh as a villain. If I was going to rate it on a Disney scale, I would say it's not quite at the level of the Lion King, but it beats Pocahontas by a wide margin I'd give roughly the same rating to Donald Trump's presidency. Overall I'd grade it somewhere between a B+ and an A-.
The music was great. I listen to the soundtrack a lot when I'm driving.
>has all manner of cameos INCLUDING Anonfilly I never noticed Anonfilly, where does she appear?
>Songbird Serenade Agreed, she is a good character.
>>204721 I actually wound up really enjoying Rainbow Rocks. The first EQG I thought was bizarre and nonsensical, but they did a good job with RR. I'm going to have to watch the rest of them at some point.
>>204751 Anonfilly is in the crowd on the left when Songbirb is flying over the audience As for the critique, here's the thing. You're quite right about Twilight being the obvious hero as far as the journey is concerned. The movie starts with Twilight not appreciating her position and capacity as friendship princess and first appealing to the other princesses to pull off her event. From that point on, in a deliberate parallel I'm sure, she is torn by feeling like the last hope of equestria which leads her to be overly critical of her friends and make ill advised decisions herself. The Storm king WAS a meh villain, that too is part of the point. Unless he was using others (in this case Tempest) he was a flaming idiot who didn't know the first thing about the magic and devices he was having them gather. Tempest was the real force for his kingdom (at least in this context, who knows what the next movie is going to put out there), and she was only doing so because she had never experienced true friendship, which only Twilight got close enough to her to realize (during her song). So then, while in the beginning Twilight thought that she needed the other princesses to make this big event go over properly - neglecting the fact that her friends were all doing their part - in the end she realized that all she needed to focus on was friendship and as a result achieved everything she hoped to by way of the festival AND together with her friends saved Equestria. The whole movie is an expounded parallel of the festival in general, and both were successfully accomplished by the same spirit and intent. I can comprehend disliking aspects of it, but the aspects that were less appreciable only complemented the aspects that were intended to be more appreciable. At least, that's how perceive it.
>>204728 Well, i dunno how to objectively tell how the songs are better. But i can tell very well that Adagio isn't another Glimmer-tier viilain with her own shitty backstory. >>204751 I hope you like them but honestly, don't expect much.
MLP stream continues tonight starting with many ponies' FAVORITE episode, the season 3 Finale and continuing on into Season 4. As usual, the show stream will conclude with a showing of the MLP movie, especially since an anon in the Tea Time after-party said that they had never seen it, so hope you can make it. Show starts at 5pPST/8pEST
>>207652 I can't imagine what she was expecting, rolling up into an MLP stream where several avatars have nazi-related avatars with "What's up my niggas? I'm bored…" and whatever else. Its funny, because aside from trolls, nogs are the only ones I have trouble with and have to boot. Glad you enjoyed it
>>207662 No. It was very fast how this animal showed up splashing us with the word "nigga". Then, she was called a nigger and invited to GTFO, next her the primal rage broke up; but she was kicked out on the spot. Probably the whole interaction didn't last longer than 1 minute.
Tonight's MLP stream starts in just over an hour, starting with the Season 4 2-part finale, followed by communism getting BTFO by friendship, and continuing until we finish and watch the movie again Xp 5pPST/8pEST
Room is open, stream starts in about 10 minutes, come watch the Golden Oaks library get BTFO. If you don't like these later season episodes, its cuz you're a SHILL what, calling people shills for ridiculous reasons seems to be a thing now. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
>>212909 The communism episode just started. Do you have a rabbit account? I think that you need one these days to join a room. It's one of the drawbacks of rabbit room.
MLP night continues tonight at 5pPST/8pEST with,... some episode from Season 5. I haven't looked up which episode yet,... probably like e5 or something, but yeah. Hope to see you tonight.

>>219096 Yeah, sorry, I got held up at work. My boss is an asshole and made me work late I'm my boss Room is open, I'll wait until there's a few people to start the stream
>>219204 Host lost power and was operating on a mobile hotspot, but then hosts' phone died and he was all alone in the dark with no ponies to comfort him. ;_; Thanks for keeping the stream going.
>>219209 I suspected that something went awry when you DC'd.
I took the remote once the episode concluded, played part two of that two part episode, and then kicked off the movie. We could either pick up from there next week or re-watch that two-parter. I like episodes that feature Trixie.
Tonight's MLP stream, which starts in ~4 hours, begins with s7e7 Parental Glideance. With nothing immediately pressing, there will be no delays to this week's stream unlike last week ~_~.
For those who wandered off due to lack of onscreen ponies and Ninjas being off sucking thousands of cocks, I would like to now announce that I have assumed control of this stream. Ponies are back on the menu, boys. Come join us
Today's MLP stream starts with s7e24 Uncommon Bond, followed by the season finale - Shadow Play, and then we start the gay School shit. Room will be open and posted momentarily (it won't be my room this time)
Soooo, Stix' room crapped out when I tried refreshing the browser, but I was too busy during the movie stream to actually watch. So I'm gonna watch the movie again if anyone wants to watch with. https://www.rabb.it/ninjas
>>222991 Odd, I reloaded the page twice and it said the room was closed. No worries, I skipped the parts I missed and focused on the parts with best songs and best pony. Xp
>>226323 Ninjas doesn't seem to be responding right now. I'll try to set it up if he doesn't show in a few minutes. You can hang out in my room until then if you would like. https://www.rabb.it/StixFggt97
I'm going to watch a few videos around YouTube from the good old days, well... whatever ones I can remember/find. Come join if you aren't busy. Just wanted to have a bit of fun and relax. https://www.rabb.it/StixFggt97
Tonight's MLP stream is going to be a little different. We'll start with a few MLP episodes, but at 9p EST, I'm going to stream the Democratic National Debates. Join us, as we talk mad shit about Corey Booker, Elizabeth Warren, and the gang of literally who's, vying to stand out from the other crowd of literally whos.
Not sure if Ninjas is going to be around today or not. He has mentioned a possibility of not being able to run the stream for a while due to unforeseen technicalities which I assume means butt stuff. So, in the event that Ninjas is busy doing "something" else today, I presume divine right to take over hosting duties.
As of last week, we have officially finished up with the Virgin S9 and will be returning to the Chad S1. I am aiming for 6 episodes; don't know if I will be able to stay awake to show the movie like Ninjas usually does, but we will see where it goes.
We will commence in approximately 20-30 min. Room is open as far as I can tell, but I've never set one of these up before so if you can't get in, feel free to complain about it here and I will see if I can figure out what I did wrong.
>>229295 If you weren’t Football incarnate, I might have harsh words for this usurpation. Seriously, this is my last night of not running the stream, after which I’ll be back in the saddle again Now if you’ll excuse me, I have butt stuff to attend to
>>229318 We'll be back to the normal schedule this week. I just today acquired the necessary accoutrements to see to it. MLP night will go on,... forever!
>>229322 Glad to know, Mr. By the way, I call poner to everyponer. And in case you wonder, the pic says everything. I hope to make it to the next stream.
Running behind again, stream is postponed until 9pEST unless someone jumps in and runs the stream We'll be picking up with season 1 episode Whatever is After 'Winter Wrap Up', cuz that's what we ended with.
I pinged that faggot, he hasn't answered yet. He's probably just off doing butt stuff again. I have decided to run for food and if we have no response from Ninjas by the time I return I can probably just usurp the right to run the stream again.
Be advised that Rabbit appears to be kill, failing to load even the main page. With our current format, I don't know that an alternative is immediately available
>>233626 "Told you so" about what? I know somebody around here hated rabbit but it wasn't me. The quality of its service has been declining over the past few months though.
>>233579 >>233610 For what it's worth. These are both me. I forgot that I had VPN on for one of the posts.
