I didn't like the premise for this episode. Usually in these kinds of liberal stories they always have the family member who is not sure about their relative's new partner to be the one at fault. I mean would care who joins my family and collective. I think one should ask for ones blessing before you become an item. But instead the idea is that we are free to do what we want as individuals. I don't even think that I am that demanding. I just want my (hypothetical) daughter to ask for my approval on her potential partner.
That is why I liked "A Canterlot Wedding", because I could sympathize with Twilight.
I am sorry if way the sentences above are written. I am just to tired now to improve them.
However, I felt as if the epiosde was bitcontrived. I just don't buy that Pinkie would really have anything against this guy. He is basically like Maud. I guess the idea is that she sees past that since she is her sister. I don't know. I really feel as if it is not excuted well enough for that but I can't right now pin-point an exact reason for this. I might be cherry-picking now but why would Pinkie be like, "But it is just a stick"when she saw his pet? I mean Maud has boulder.

Just forced myself to watch it. I likely won't watch the first 2 episodes of season 8 till I re-watch the entirety of the season after it comes out.

Personal problem of mine is wasting screen time. The time Glimmer was on screen could have easily been used for other things and was a waste that could have been used for more focus on Pinkie's family in solving the problem or showing the problem build up with Maud's bf. Like I said though I think it was just a waste of 3-5mins of screen time that could have gone into something better.
And in all honesty the entirety of the episode felt a bit bloated. There were parts that could have been removed in place for other things that could have flushed it out more. The comedy intro, though funny and cute could have been cute a bit shorter to get to the point.

I've gone through all the stages of MLP fandom in the space of a year. This time last year I'd just watched the first episode for the first time and was completely ecstatic about how much I was enjoying it. Now I'm all like GAS THE WRITERS LAUREN FAUST DID NOTHING WRONG.

I dislike him he felt more like an insert then a real character. You could argue the same with Maud but I feel like they made up with it when I figured out they were going for the 4 humors embodied in the pie sisters. But 1 he is an insert that is made to have every ounce of autism Maud does as a copy paste. But instead of being quiet about it he acts as a know it all which contrasts with his high levels of autism when he was introduced as being thoughtful. Which leads into point 2 Maud may be autistic but she at least thinks about others, and he doesn't have any self awareness which makes him come off as cringe.

It's that sibling or retaliative who just quite didn't seem to fit to their surrounding, such as if you went to the city and did well, why they where more open out in the country, and vice versa.
That said I give the episode a 5/10, +1 to myself (6/10 personal) for the confirmed non-gommie glimmer
