Well, fellow Anons, here we are, almost a year away from our first year of convergence. It's been one hell of a crazy ride, especially in the first two weeks of our creation, but with things long since settled down, it allows me to really take stock of what we've managed to survive, throughout all of this.
The board's freezing and eventual deletion, the chaos of two halves trying desperately to rejoin one another again, scouring through multiple alt-chans, particularly endchan, until finally settling on here as our new bedrock.
A moderation, development, and administrative team that actively participate in the boards, alongside regular users. Although they're new, take longer than I'd like deliberating over site changes, and certainly have had teething issues, particularly with the rogue moderator in the early months of /mlpol/'s existence, seriously who the fuck even uses NNTP for discussion anymore, let alone NNTPchan, they've risen to the occasion with gusto. They all have experienced 4/mlp/ and 4/pol/'s moderation in all it's abhorrence, and to date, have shown themselves to be fully invested in not repeating those same mistakes.
The site's code is open-source, and in one of the most lassiez-fare software licenses out there, allowing me to scrape through the config.php file for all those flashy esoteric formatting options. Big thanks to Pineapple for starting it up, wherever you are now, and big thanks to Pupper for keeping it ship-shape, and being active on /qa/ about it.
We've been growing slowly but steadily in user count, certainly at least in lurkers, and have shown ourselves to take in fellow outcasts of our home boards, with /sg/ and Anonfilly being prime examples; /sg/ continues to be a font of information, bereft of the shills and fags that infest it's 4/pol/ counterpart, and Anonfilly has gone on to become one of the fastest boards on the site, absorbing most of it's 4/mlp/ userbase, and occasionally stepping out of their quaint abode to immerse themselves in what made /mlpol/ such a hit, back on April 1st.
For an older, more web 2.0 form of Internet discussion, we have done very well for ourselves. And as 4chan, 8ch, and even YouTube and other arenas exsanguinate users, we've shown ourselves to be apt at catching these individuals, so carelessly and spitefully thrown aside by those who don't know the first thing about their importance. Their loss, our gain.
But all this got me thinking: why do /pol/ and /mlp/ go so well, to begin with?
After all, it seems like such a stretch, to believe for one second that the unironic National Socialists, Anarcho-Capitalists, and ethnonationalists could form such a healthy symbiotic relationship with My Little Pony, light-hearted memelords, and literal horsefuckers.
But we've seen it work. I saw it work myself, back on April 1st, 2017: the cancers of both halves driven off by the good of both, coming together in a powerful, almost incomprehensible display of memetic chemotherapy.
But as the old adage goes, you must first know yourself, before you know your enemies.
Therefore, I would like to take you through our history, to the extent that I am capable of: what made our constituent halves good, what caused their stagnation and downfalls, and ultimately, why the fusion of the two, intended as a spiteful prank, backfired in an almost poetic fashion.
If you're still with me, then join me, as this >FUCKING LEAF from /mlp/ breaks things down, as an early anniversary present.
And thanks to our flawed but excellent mods and admins, for all that they do.
Seriously though, set up a fucking Mumble server for the staff, instead of Discord, IRC and all that other CIA shit you absolute faggots

/mlp/

I don't think anyone saw this coming, way back in 2010. 4chan certainly had it's fair share of birthing forth storms of great and terrible autism, ranging from Chris-Chan to Incontinent Student Bodies, and even Project Chanology, which I will get to in a later section.
But nothing could prepare 4chan, much less the Internet as a whole, for what /co/ was about to unleash.
Taken in by the first few episodes, which were much higher in quality than anyone expected out of the show, alongside with having Lauren Faust's name affixed to it, things started off simple enough, as the birth of any meme is. Until, of course, Streisand called to say hello; something about these cute little ponies rustled the mods something fierce, and the banhammering began.
The ponies spread out of /co/ like a dread plague, the pony shitposting infecting nearly every board on the site, often drowning out the anime shitposting in sheer quantity and creativity. The mods, powerless to stop them, enlisted the aid of moot, who banned it all from the site wholesale, if only for a moment.
But once again, this only pushed them to higher and higher heights: as was true for the Internet ecosystem of the time, the pony plague spread out from 4chan, infecting everything in it's path. The Bronies were formed. The true autism lords ate it up. Everyone was talking about it. But more importantly, nobody could escape from it.
In that first half year, 4chan had created a cataclysmic storm of pure, unadulterated autism, ripping the fabric of the site asunder, and claiming many other sites in it's wake, just as the Birth of Slaanesh consumed the Eldar, their empire and territories enshrouded by the Eye of Terror. And like the daemons of Slaanesh, these pony-loving shitposters poured forth, ravaging their new territory, and having a hell of a fun time doing it.
Eventually, of course, moot caved and gave them their partition in /mlp/.
But as the years went on, the ponyposters didn't relent and die off, like most memes do: it stayed in place, continuing to grow and metastasize into it's own. The show remained good for the moment, and continued to remain fresh and interesting for those inculcated within it. To this day, despite the hemorrhaging of it's userbase, /mlp/ remains one of the most prolific boards on 4chan for original content, with thousands of greentexts, fanfics, artwork, and orders of magnitude more image macros.
The Bronies left for the outer territories, leaving the horsefuckers in charge of /mlp/, driving OC and discussion onwards.
And it was good.

But all good things must come to an end, and while being fresh and new is extremely exciting, it also lends itself to extreme volatility.
When the Season 3 finale dropped, ushering in the now-infamous Twilicorn, it split the fledgling fanbase, and would serve as a precursor for what was about to befall the fandom.
Faust was forced off of the show, and many others tried to replace her, with varying levels of success: Larson being perhaps the most well-received of these replacements, and Vogel being the least well-received, all for good reason.
Equestria Girls was another sore point, and coming off the heels of the Season 3 finale, only drove the stake further into the wound. Even after the quality of EQG improved meteorically with Rainbow Rocks, and levelled off with the other movies, before joining the main show in mediocrity, it remains a sore point, despite eventually becoming another prolific vein of OC creation on /mlp/.
Characters were tarnished with poor writing, and the new additions such as Starlight Glimmer only compounded the issue.
The Scruffening only made matters worse, purging OC left and right that the mod and janitor staff did not approve of, for completely arbitrary reasons. This fractured the board even further, with tulpa threads, and popular OCs like Milky Way banned outright. This practice continues to this day, with the recent ousting of Anonfilly for 'fucking pedoshit', despite the existence of /mlpg/ continuing on to this day.
The infamous Pony Thread Simulators brought an influx of the usual cancer, Reddit being chief among them. In the same vein, EQD, Fimfic, and other such Brony fansites continue to deride their horsefucking elders from /mlp/, cursing their lineage day after day, while aping their OC for themselves.

To this day, /mlp/'s catalog most closely resembles /g/'s catalog, in that it is dominated by generals. And in the same vein as /g/, longstanding generals such as AiE and Flutterrape became slow, stagnant, and completely infested with tripfags, all the chief OC creators leaving long ago, either stepping off the ride, or flocking to Fimfic and others for the greater edge in garnered exposure and audience participation.
Unmoderated shitposting continues to spread like a plague throughout the board, the glimmerspam seemingly without end, only compounding the issue with the generals: what should have been lively areas for discussion and OC, healthy in small quantities, instead became bunkers against the storm.
Even before the major leaks occurred, /mlp/ was in dire, dire straits…

/pol/

Author's note: I've had to do a bit of research on this one, as 4/pol/ isn't a board I visit. Feel free to correct any mistakes made.
Try as he might, moot couldn't slay /n/, /pol/'s ancestral board: you see, back then, /n/ was not Transportation, as it is now, but was News, and had a similar, if not identical set of discussions and ideologies as /pol/. Indeed, moot shitcanned /n/ specifically because they talked shit about Obama and blacks. Sound familiar?
But of course, they spread out when they were denied their home. One of their temporary settlements was /k/, and /k/ommandos to this day get along well with the /pol/-inclined. Moot caved, as he always does, after the failure of /new/, and gave the outcasts of /n/ a home in the form of /pol/, for all the "das waycist" banter they could hope for, while /news/ was created for "real news". Take a wild guess as to which one flourished.
And flourish, it certainly did. /pol/acks were lively, had great discussions, were skilled in the art of banter, and most importantly, took absolutely no shit from others. Even the infamous """Anonymous""" collective of the years prior failed to cow them.
/pol/'s psyops were, and to some extent still are, among the best, creating the 'redpill' before it became popularized, and inculcating those unfortunate enough to take them on into their ranks, breaking them in short order.
The ID system made samefagging impossible for those without VPN's, which is most shitposters and samefags, and the flags added further to this, while also memeing of the legend of Australian and Canadian shitposters.
Hell, their memetic arsenal as a whole was the thing of legend, and had soon found itself eclipsing /b/ in that regard. And their infographics and sourcing was very good, often meshing well with the memetic component for the optimal delivery of information.
Always dabbling in esoteric information, always tricking newcomers into joining their ranks, always invoking the dark arts of memetic magic, they were not unlike the daemons of Tzeentch, pursuing knowledge and enlightenment at all costs.
If you wanted to discuss politics, have some healthy banter, clamor for the death of degenerates and Jews, and meme with the best of them, /pol/ was the place to be. And when the 2016 elections kicked into gear, /pol/ went into overdrive.
And it was good.

The problem, of course, is that /pol/ went into overdrive.
While unquestionably successful in memeing Trump into the Oval Office, the cost of this triumph would make itself known in short order, to those who hadn't clued into the signs before, still riding high off the triumph.
Their popularity soared, with callouts on network television, YouTube, and more, and with it, came the influx of the usual crop of undesirable newcomers, the chief migrants hailing from Reddit. Their influx was too fast, their refusal to integrate all too apparent. Instead of coming for the discussions, they visited the board to be 'ironic' and 'edgy', having found a new, 'cool' thing to siphon the life out of.
Just as in /g/ and /mlp/, generals became a problem. Though not as prolific as those in /mlp/, the ones that scraped by were far more cancerous, the most infamous of these being /ptg/, which was and still is known far and wide as a colony of r/The_Donald, complete with all the bandwagoners and undesirables such a colony would bring.
Their memes were plundered and stolen, their effectiveness and freshness the quickest cycling of any memes created prior in the site's history.
With the influx of newcomers came the LARPers, and those who took the memes and banter completely seriously, paving the way for the misguided idea of trying to change the world directly through action, instead of indirectly through influence and memetics: an expedition doomed to failure, with the participants failing to heed the lesson of Project Chanology, long ago. No better example exists of this rampant hubris and improvidence than (((Q))); truly, the Ahzek Ahriman to the original Tzeentchian makeup of /pol/, complete with his own legion of Rubrics.
The meddling of /pol/'s memetics drew the attention of special interest organizations, hell-bent on disrupting their efforts to dislodge their corrupt benefactors, and bring them into the sunlight. The hordes of shills that rampage across /pol/, whether they be CTR, Shareblue, or from any other source, is the thing of legend. While in ordinary circumstances, their efforts would be ineffective, the newcomers, failing to integrate and learn the laws of the land, fell for their tricks. Between the promotion of miscegenation, multiculturalism, misinformation of all stripes, and more, there's nothing these brigands don't try to corrupt and subvert on /pol/.
And the moderation is worse than that of /mlp/, and shown to be in active collusion with the special interests and the shills.

/pol/ was sickly, and was succumbing to it's rampant cancer at a rate that not even the original /b/ could match.
It's regulars were exhausted, close to breaking, from the war they waged daily on their corner of the Internet.
Things looked increasingly bleak for the board…

Convergence

The mods of both /mlp/ and /pol/ shared something in common, besides corruption and incompetence: their absolute hatred for the boards they lorded over. And so, when April 1st of 2017 approached, they had a brilliant idea: merge the two boards together, and let their respective Anons tear each other apart.
/vint/, /cock/, /fitlit/, not /r9k/, and more were merged, but the chief merger was /mlpol/.
Like anything that is suddenly ripped out and thrust into a new environment, the Anons reacted poorly, lashing out and demanding the joke be stopped at once. And the mods laughed it up, thinking themselves the victors.
But then something happened, something that seemed impossible, but happened anyways.
The Anons got along.

The /pol/acks realized that the shills that had infested the board previously had disappeared, due to both the shill bot scripts failing, and the 'le edgy' Redditors being repulsed by the sight of ponies.
The nor/mlp/eople, realizing the board had gone red, and that the cancerous generals from before were gone, took the opportunity to post all the pony porn they had available, further driving off the casual newcomers and glimmer spam.
An understanding was reached by the two groups of Anons: /pol/ would watch the show, and /mlp/ would partake in their redpills.
In the show, the /pol/acks found the same quality, the same kind of joy, that /co/ had found within it long ago, and moreover, found the show's values and morals, at least in the earlier seasons, to be compatible with their own, many going on proclaim it as one of the few shows they would allow their children to watch.
And the denizens of /mlp/ took the new information, this time in a whole new light: what they thought was cancer and '/pol/ shit' was more pertinent than they realized. But more importantly, they had a new group of people to share their interest with, one that understood how chans functioned, and would not displace that particular culture.
Soon, the information and memetics of /pol/ converged with the creativity and OC output of /mlp/, and gave birth to huge swathes of fresh, new original content.
The (((Griffons))), the alicorn-themed Reichsadler, the chronicles of /mlpol/-tan, the renaissance of Aryanne and co, the creation of /mlpol/'s constitution, all of it blossomed forth in the very short period of time that /mlpol/ remained online.
And most importantly, the resident undesirables of both boards were completely gone, repulsed by the union, and blown the fuck out by the regulars and oldfags if they dared show their tripcodes around their new turf.
It was creative, it was fast.
It was fun.
/pol/, finding a wholesome antidote to their blackpilling and fatigue.
/mlp/, finally finding acceptance among their misunderstood neighbours.
The boards were kindred spirits, their interests maligned by the outside world.
The left and right halves of the brain, converged into a unified whole.
The daemons of Slaanesh and Tzeentch, working their magic in unison.
And it was good.

But the mods were having none of it.
You'd better believe that they were pissed at this 'clever' jape of theirs backfiring.
The board was locked after three days, denying the new pair their new home.
The backlash was immense, with /qa/ being raided day in and day out by the newly christened /mlpol/ Anons, succeeding in displacing the forces of /jp/, who had repurposed the board as their own secret shitposting club. Even [s4s] came to the aid of the very, very nice /mlpol/ Anons.
But alas, the moot of old had been displaced by the vile Hiro, who's only interest in the site extended to mining the data of it's users.
The battle was fought long and hard, but the mods would never forget this insult, and deleted all mention of /mlpol/, stopping short of banning it outright, outside of /pol/.
Anons scrambled to find a new home, somewhere they could at least stand a chance of recovering.
And after many attempts, including on 8ch and endchan, they finally settled for nothing less than their namesake, mlpol.net.

And we've been here ever since.
It's a quiet, comfy place, and although it's precipitous drop-off of users compared to the original /mlpol/ left the /pol/ half balking at the speed at first, the /mlp/ half adjusted very nicely, being no strangers to slow boards.
We plodded along, fishing into our home boards for any and all users that had been lost in the chaotic maelstrom of the original /mlpol/'s deletion. The fishing continues to this day, with cross-boarders dropping hints to those they feel are worthy.
We've come up with a few organically grown memes, too, including our own cast of pony mascots.
Horse pussy remains effective in deterring the shills and undesirables. After all, it's easier to say in a JIDF debriefing that they were battling the evil Nazis, and not horsefuckers.
Our mods and admins are a great bunch, who participate actively among us.
We've transplanted generals from 4chan with resounding success, and with little to none of the cancer typically associated with generals. At least, for now
Hell, we even have our own resident faggots. You know who you are.
And while things might be slow around here, I won't lie: I rather like the pace.
But most of all, I can say definitively, at least for the forseeable future…
This is a very nice board.
And it is good.

I wasn't around 4chan to hear about the /mlpol/ incident. I was part of the 8chan exodus when "GG" first happened. I stayed on 8chan, but left "GG" after they became all about fucking "muh ethics" and "muh internet celebs" and trying to prop up that faggot Milo as their spokesperson, when they became blind to the fact that Milo was just using them for his own gain. GG became Reddit, /r/the_donald tier Reddit. I always viewed GG as a means to get rid of liberal and other leftist faggotry out of vidya. 8/pol/ was a huge help when it first started, but GG shunned them and cucked themselves. All for trying to be liked and accepted by people who will never like them in the first place and wants them dead with their families raped.

I came here after reading about /mlpol/ on the ImplyingRigged wiki. I'm glad I did. Despite the pony porn (I'm not a fan, shut up) I found this place to be comfy. 8/pol/ and 8chan lost that feeling, since they have their own shills and there is no transparency about the owners and what they are doing with the user's data.

I hope this place never loses that comfy feeling and feeling of trust and safety. That may be futile, but at least this place has a chance of keeping it that way.

I remember when they started off, full of promise. Openly mocking the idea of a 'leader' figure, shitposting the journos into oblivion, all of it. Most fun I ever had with Twitter.
Why all these flash mobs and movements drop the highly effective decentralized approach to instead form around a leader figure, just like their enemies do, is still beyond me. Small wonder why Jim dropped it like a nu-Simpsons episode.
Can't really fault them for shunning 8/pol/, though. Trying to flush out the leftism in 2014 was a bit ahead of it's time, especially when you saw the polls pinning many GG posters as centre-lefties.
Ah, but look where we are, now.

Anyways, welcome aboard, friend!
But soon, you will experience the full power of the horse pussy
