>this will be perfect for Cupcakes: the sequel.
>>82150I'm worried about this episode tbh. I want it to be the best Pinkie episode of the season but I know that will likely still be the Daring Done since she seemed on character for the first time in 2 seasons. I have a feeling this will be party of one
my second favorite episode light or done incorrectly. Still expectations low hopes high.
>>82150M8, it's still Thursday in EST time, this thread might be too premature
>>82155This, and if you've already watched it pls spoiler so that I can watch it on time without having it ruined.
How did this get unstickyed?
Everyone get in here.
Pinkie has quite the vibrant imagination…
>Evil Pie-Hater Dash is basically a pony version of Injustice Superman
>tfw you've come to suspect that one of your best friends doesn't like your pies and has been lying to you for years about it
Sorry about the ded cytube today, wont happen again. That being said, encore stream at 3:00pm EST
>>82458>>82457God, this episode was fucking dumb. I hate that I can't bring myself to hate it, not any more. After Gift of the Maggot, Flutter Brutter, and all the other shit episodes, I can't bring myself to be pissed or mad or anything. I just feel empty. There's a pony-shaped hole in my heart where ponies used to go. But these new ponies, just 22 minutes of memefaces and dumb moments used to mask a dumb plot some part-time probably-a-diversity-hire farted out on their drive to work.
Someone's probably going to say "Well I liked it, it was meaningless comfy funshit and it's one of the season's best episodes because it wasn't one of the season's worst", and I don't know if I'll bother to respond with "This show used to be more than that, you fucking moeblob-loving moefag".
Somebody, post that anti-numlp anti-trumphater anti-culturalmarxist change.org petition from "A concerned mom".
…Fuck it,

>>82468>22 minutes of memefacesAnd you're criticizing? What about evil-Dash?
Friendly reminder of re-broadcast in ~30 minutes
>"I seriously hope you don't throw away my pies"
>>82531>>82485why is evil RD a nigger, were they simulating real life?
>>82532If you've ever seen an anime including magical girls or soime shit, "dark" versions of characters often have darker skin.
That, and Evil Pie-Hater Dash had a darker complexion in the show.
>>82533i watched some seasons of classic sailor moon when it was new in the west but nothing like it ever since, so i would not know about the dark white skin evil twin trope. But that she was miscolored did not miss my eye. Like her shark teeth and the darker shades of her hair, the rest not so much.
This episode was…. meh. Pinkie Pie was making way too many faces though, I thought I was sort of watching Ren and Stimpy. Evil dash was sort of funny, sort of.
Also this has been on my mind while I was watching, most of the episodes this season was missing something. Previous seasons I felt (except 6) had a greater motive behind each episode as if they was working towards an ultimate progression or climax or whatever. Now the episodes are just… there. There's no greater motive, no major progression in the timeline. Most of the episodes I actually forgot and can't remember and the shame of it is that at the beginning of the season, it looked like the quality was finally jumping up. The only episodes I can remember is the Fluttershy curing zecora, cause of the creepy lore about the trees, Applejack and the family finding about their parents, and Maud coming in and Pinkie Pie being thrilled about it. Its pretty clear its getting cash cowed and I can understand why many fans are up to arms with this.
Oh and don't give me that "its just change, you don't like it because its not doing the samething, embrace change" shit. I am always open to change in a story. However I want the change to improve or spice it up and not lower the quality of it. This season isn't over but I dunno. I don't think the new writers care. If MLP continues this route, then I think its time for it to retire.
Dash ate Pie in bed… Heheh.
>>82545I admit, the series is without focus when it comes to these episode. I would say there's a lack of theme, but theme merely doesn't make the cut. A theme alone doesn't make an arc to go through. I wish the series would do something artsy to symbolise the coming end, then just fade away as it was meant to do. All in all, it's a paralysing feeling. Almost of dread, as though we are waiting for death. None of us knows what is beyond death. Perhaps new life?
>>82545This is the "motive calm" before the "motive storm" of the finale.
>>82531obviously because jonfawkes is a raciss.
smh fam.
>>82150Finally got around to watching it. I sorta have been holding back since I was worried it would turn out bad or be very good. Seemed to me like a missed oppertunity.
Premise was solid and I it could have been party of one but Pinkie was right. Instead it was all over the place and Pinkie's writing seemed off. Pinkie felt very "LEL RANDOM XDDDD" when we first go to see her and as she tired to prove dash was being a bitch she bacame more and more serious rather then crazier. It should have been the other way around with her acting just happy at first and then as she got more and more paranoid she should have started doing weirder and weirder things. The thing abot Pinkie is she is a really self aware pony, and looks at things very differently then most ponies. Its why she can go full on /pol/ tinfoil cap like she sorta did here and did in Party of One. But these elements were twisted in her character for this episode so that it felt really off. So Darring Done will still be the most Pinkie Pie Pinkie we got in all of season 7 so far.
Also some of the parts could have just been cut out like evil Dash and we could have seen a lot more of Pinkie's character coming out after she connected the dots rather then her having to play detective and try and get dash to show to her face that she doesn't like Pinkies Pies.
If it had gone
>Finds pies in trash >Does investigation work > Tries to get dash to eat pies > cocludes dash doesn't like her pies >Flips out >conflict resoultion rather then
>Finds pies in trash >Does investigation work >Flips out > Tries to get dash to eat pies > cocludes dash doesn't like her pies >conflict resoultion It woulld have seemed more conherent and the flip out would have seemed more powerful.
tl;dr
Good premise poor execution.
5/10 will pain me to watch againStill great new reaction faces
>>82568>"Instead it was all over the place and Pinkie's writing seemed off. Pinkie felt very "LEL RANDOM XDDDD""Pinkie has been that way since at least season 5. She's basically Patrick Star at this point:
>early depiction: could work with humor/writing that wouldn't work with other characters due to her unique personality, on a different level of logic from everyone else, naive or maybe even dimwitted, but still charming in her own way>modern depiction: her witing is almost entirely LOL XD RANDOM to the point where she literally breaks the fourth wall, usually plain stupid, tends to be an (unintentional) insensitive jerk because lol random Pinkie was not intended initially to have superior/alternate/interdimensional logic. Pic related.
Any new writers might be referring to Faust's initial plans. I would much more like it if she made stupid statements which always turned out true, but are indecipherable beforehand.
I really liked the episode. It might be a new favorite of S7.
Heres my complete enjoyment level chart for those who dont go to /mlp/.
7/10, was sweet
>>82568>Pinkie felt very "LEL RANDOM XDDDD" when we first go to see her and as she tried to prove dash was being a bitch she became more and more serious rather then crazier. It should have been the other way around with her acting just happy at first and then as she got more and more paranoid she should have started doing weirder and weirder things. So both episodes did the same thing? Pinkie slowly getting paranoid that her friends hate her in one way or another?
>>82720One episode did it better than the other.
>Pinkie Goes CrazyPinkie thinks her friends are sick of her, she thinks they betrayed her, and she makes "New" friends: Objects.
>Lolsorandumbxdddddd the episode starring patrick star on crackPinkie thinks Rainbow Dash doesn't like pies. No other writers could think of any better episode premises, so they made a whole fucking episode out of Pinkie being stupid for the sake of another fucking idiot plot.
I signed that "Get the Trump-haters off the show staff" petition, since Miller, Vogel, and Haber are all Trump-hating libfags.
>>82782>>82783this horse looks like it has been drawn by an autistic child, even more so than the normal version. is this yet another make a wish shoo in?
>>82784>looks like it has been drawn by an autistic childwell, Pinkie was acting pretty autistic in this episode: Evil Pie-Hater Dash was a just figment of her imagination when she was panicking.
>>82468The meme faces were like sprinkles onto of the shitpile called the plot. It was boring and unoriginal, from the oppening scene of Pinkie being excited to give rainbow a pie, I predicted the plot, the tempo and the scene by scene interactions to a T. Which sucks cause it’s MLP, I wanna veg out and watch cute ponies be cute, not formulaic or second cut to (((poochie)))
Tl;dr episode is 4/10 and the plot was predictable, meme faces were fine and plentiful
>>82744Bless you and your digits
>>82720Not really party of one she starts out season 1 Pinkie, which isn't as much "LEL RANDOM XDDDD" and is more of very hyper pinkie. As time passes she starts acting crazier because she gets paranoid till she crashes and goes insane. I'd have liked for this episode to do something similar but play around with the idea that she was right this time around.
>>82744>Pinkie thinks Rainbow Dash doesn't like pies. No other writers could think of any better episode premises, so they made a whole fucking episode out of Pinkie being stupid for the sake of another fucking idiot plot.I didn't really care what the plot devise was as long as they made good and on spot character interactions out of it. Which they didn't the theme of the episode was off for a Pinkie episode, the lesson being honesty and not giving it to Apple shows the current writers can't really think of her as anything other then a side character. If they wanted to go Pinkie theme they should have made it about optimism or trust. This was also my main problem with Daring Done, they focused on one of the main 6 but give the theme of another, that case it was rainbow rainbows episode but Ponks was the one who got the lesson part. At least that felt a bit more natural since Ponks was the one who taught her element in the episode
which is why it was Pinkies strongest showing all season long even if it wasn't suppose to be a Pinkie episode which is why Rainbow and Daring both felt sorta like plot devises.
But I digress. I couldn't care less about the plot devises as long as the theme and characters are on point which they were. This should have been an AG episode through and through and the way they set up the episode was weird. It was a great opportunity to explore more about Pinkie's character flaws but instead they blew it by placing the blame on Rainbow by not having Pinkie flip out. By placing the blame on Rainbow it became an honesty episode with nearly no AJ. Like I said its a mess and the plot devise couldn't matter less.
I liked the episode, its obviously a silly episode meant for children to learn something important about friendship, that is really nice.
I don't really think the writters are focusing on us anymore, the episodes have no real plot because you can watch them in any order, like if they where on television, where you got no control over which episode goes first.
I leave huge time gaps from episode to episode, I can say I noticed some change in the animation, it looks smoother, I can also notice that the way it's animated reminds me of older cartoons now, specially the last scenes from the episode, the way pinkie and Rd act and move while hugging.
It's interesting.
>>82973The most probable change in viewer demographic especially with the movie release is going to be younger, and I'd wager that the writing for the show has been deliberately scripted to take full advantage of and cater to that same group. Younger/new viewers will be largely oblivious to the established characters' personalities and practices, so don't be surprised if there is a consistent degree of episode/character re-hashes as Hasbro attempts to hook those who haven't been binging on the show/fandom for years (or just the last 6 months).
