I first heard about this incident on the radio while driving the other day. It made me so disgusted and angry I nearly had to pull over.

Theres a major hospital. Lots of cases and in-house patients, including a rich old dude who needs a heart, shall we say.
Dont be rushed to that hospital in critical condition with an organ donor card.

They're compensating you for Time not bodily stuffs. But they don't buy the bodily stuffs. They can't do that.

Theres a nearby college town with a plasma donation center. They ran a promotion a couple years back where for the first 10 donations (2/week max) you get $100 each visit. Afterward, the payout is $40 on the first visit and $80 on the second.
If one can live off ~500/month on top of whatever other cashflow they may have, sure. But I got rejected on my second donation on 3 separate occasions (pulse too high, blood pressure too high, temperature too high) which reduced effective income from 480 to 240, which could break a person.
