Hey faggots! Mare Fair is obviously over, which means now is the perfect time if not already done so to begin the steps and plans to go toward/into Mare Faire 2025.
Personal plans are free to be discussed and developed, but speciically I'm encouraging plans/discussion for how to improve the site's visibility and public profile.
Mare Fair seems amongus the best spurces for potential new/old users, as well as ample opportunty for quasi-board related shenanigens.
In particular, there seems to be a decent potential for a publicly scheduled meetup (with complimentary elastic-strig and paper anon masks, in green and orange), if not a full-on /mlpol/ panel.
Not to mention the potential of randomly annexing areas, events, etc.
Think about it, there's plenty of potential to show the fandom - particularly the anonymous part - that theres still fun to be had here and I'm interested in discussing how to make that happen.
Assuming there is collaboration/participation, it would behoove the entire process if we could get someone from the site to serve as volunteer staff, if only to have a direct spurce for information/updates.
Having never done so in such a venue, running a panel or making a presentation really isn't that difficult and comes down to plannig planning an preparation. An /mlpol/ panel would probably be best suited to start with a retrospective from 4/mlpol/, featuring classic threads, videos, and memes, and the archive is still active for source material.
Then theres all the memes, videos, habbedings, and shenanigens that have gone on since then, all of which could be neatly and (ideally) entertainingly presented/referenced for both newfag and old. And all that is nothing to say about the ridiculous signage we could come up with. A picket-line protesting Griffoni occupation of Yakistein, for example.
Actual optics and equipment is EASY!
As a former employee of two major electronics and component retailers I can assure you that as long as you didn't break your equipment in some visible/tangible/testable way you can get a full refund.
Trust me, it beats the hell out of borrowing,
Assuming the overhead for purchase is within budget, you get to precisely specify the equipment. This can be cameras to record content for presentation, it can be projectors and speakers likewise.
it beats the hell out of renting,
I struggle to justify the idea that "full refund" is either ambiguous or debatable contested against giving out money you can't get back, in context.
and it beats the hell out of leasing.
UNLESS one already leases said equipment, but that becomes the exception that proves the rule(s)
>>377360I'm considering jumping in to staff, but like I said in this year's thread I don't think we're going to have much luck. The entirety of the DR presence at the con was maybe 15 people, between the aryanne guys, the guys that they introduced me to, and the 4 of us that were there from mlpol
>>377363also re:equipment I have all the sound and recording equipment we could possibly need. My DSLR isn't great at video and it likes to overheat after an hour or so but I also have a few decent video options, I've got studio quality sound stuff and I'll be driving next year so I could mic up a panel. I don't think staff will let us get away with it though, even if we have a guy or two on the team
>>377369You could be right, the idea could be doomed to fail before getting to the starting line (part of where my personal plans come into play).
The alternative might be something like a Denver Broncos appreciation panel,....
In fairness, I would be okay with 15 or so people. The point wouldnt be to have a "huge" or even a "successful" panel, it would be to have one at ALL. As cons go, Mare Fair is the closest to an /mlp/ and 4chan exclusive event, and having any scheduled presence at ALL strikes me as a big win.
Another option would be to annex a panel room (schedule the panel in advance, but for posturing and promotional purposes) to do a live screening of the /mlpol/ movie night.
Operating from the plausible conclusion that there may be scrutiny from outside he board, hello and welcome!
In lieu of recent statements from snowpity.inc administration, it is clear that any tacit affiliation between snowpity.inc and a collection of anons self-identifying as /mlpol/ - while not ACTUALLY being Nazis (we're politically active/aware, ironically horsefucking shitposters) - is untenable and impossible to approve on any level.
Also
>inb4 Aryanne is banned
In light of the possibility that any public account wrt plans for MF3 - be they individual or site-related - might be documented by individuals operating in bad faith and weaponized in a misguided attempt to grasp at any shred of potential relevancy on twitter, I must regrettably request of staff that this thread be closed and locked.
>>377406Just post voluptuous equine vulva. This cleans the thread of any slack-jawed keyboard warriors who hate to see a group of men have a good time.
>>377407Maybe you're right. I just wanna be able to cook tasty food for ppl, out of my own room where Im not bothering anyone
I still think the safest bet is to hard-cancel any site related plans and close the thread. It kinda sucks that being from /mlpol/ could be considered a liability, but it is what it is and I dont wanna ruin anything for myself or anyponer else
But anons. If there's no mass media outrage at a convention of 'white' men celebrating the existence of nazi talking equines then there'd be no memes to make of it. No memes to fight the meme war, we'd have failed KeK and the meme magic by passing up the chance of Nazi Pony Pussy living rent free in the minds of the people and not just us. It's Selfish to keep the Ponies message of Friendship and Loyalty, Laughter, Generosity, Honesty, Kindness, and magic (vril) to our selves when these are the very ideals all true National Socialists dream of achieving. I dream of a world where ponies are the symbol of a new party to pick up where Hitler left off.
>>377414Anything overtly /mlpol/ could result in a perma ban. Im not gonna volunteer anyone for that just to try and get some attention
There's nothing prohibitive about meeting up elsewhere if that is of interest, just not in any visible or recognizable degree while on con grounds.
No one has YET said anything about Aryanne officially, but even if they don't we already know that at th very least, the presence of Aryanne and other such signage/iconography - even if permitted - puts con administration in a dificult position
>>377417stop sperging out, nobody is going to remember this shit in a week and we're going to do the exact same thing we did this year, next year.
>>377451We'll see, until more is known it's safer to air on the side of caution
>>3773685*
Also if we had a panel about /mlpol/'s history I'm a bit concerned about the need to censor ToS-breaking stuff like swastikas, etc. Even if the panel is centered around comedy and fun, Marefair does not want to attract
too much negative attention. The /pts/ panel definitely pushed boundaries but we wouldn't want to go past that. Some faggots have already raised a stink about the anons who wore MAGA hats (they had been politely asked not to wear the hats, but otherwise weren't harassed at the cons) and the pool's closed swastika at the pool.
Any sort of informal meetup is definitely possible though. If the Aryannefags could do it then we can.
>>377386Please share these statements if you're gonna bring them up, anon.
>>377409"Safest" maybe, but going that far is just marginally safer. This is as safe as it gets to discuss it at all, aside from some encrypted IRC chat. Don't post anyone's faces or con names like a faggot and we're good.
>>377455Let me put it this way: if I was one of those crazy leftist Twitter retards, I would have already been able to do irreparable damage to the ability of people on site to attend the con, just by what's publicly available
>>377456>>377457Definitely. This is why I don't think we should bring attention on ourselves via a panel that anyone can see. We should instead do a private meetup, possibly with invited newfags who've shown themselves to be trustworthy.
>>377458There will be plenty of context on my end to allow for organic and innocuous collaboration in person, and as things become more determinate over time, allusions will be made, but yeah; it seems in everyone's best interest to accept/respect the optics
I mean, not to dickride or anything, but I imagine Snowpity mgmt would appreciate the consideration/accommodation
Curses, now there's another idea. This one might fly though
Okay, so one idea that probably wouldn't get anyone banned and might be tacitly accepted - though a bit on the onerous side (not egregiously) for anyone putting it on (would volunteer/captain) - would be a Denver Broncos themed pancake breakfast/banquet, ostensibly after closing ceremonies.
>>377457maybe as mlpol representatives, but the only people who know I'm from this board AND know what I look like/my fandom name are the people from this board and a few guys at the aryanne meetup I shilled it to
>>377464Fair and appreciated, but without being able to go into detail, allow me to suggest that I can't explain ITT why it is in everyone's best interest to not cause a fuss with Snowpity. If you want to reach out on discord (I assume I'm obvious enough) I might go into specifics, but I hope you'll appreciate that I really do enjoy shenanigens, and would wantonly plan/engage if doing so wouldnt inevitably cause consequence for others
>>377466I don't use discord and you shouldn't either.
>>377487Then I hope you appreciate that I can neither explain why nor do anything short of discouraging any site-specific activity at Mare Fair
/mlpol/ room party anyone?
>>377571There will german beer and tacos.
>>377572I'll bake cookies
>>377573Friendship cookies!!
>>377574I've been told I'm really good at them
>>377575Those look delicious anon.
I'm going to order moe's catering for the tacos!
Does anyone think I might be kicked out if I made an Aryanne suit sans windmill and wore an Argentina football jersey over the top of it?
Mare Fair is a very long time from now. What does anyone think of a meet up or a room party at Harmony Con next February?
>>377583While not planning to attend HarmonyCon in any overnight sort of capacity, I'd gladly participate in any meetups, since it's close-ish. I'd even bring food!
>>377587Okay, so this thread is here, might as well make use of it. Enough of my plans for Mare Fair overlap with other conventions, and are specific to me with no site collaboration or intent.
So the biggest difficulty in planning to offer delicious food to people at conventions is:
1. You can't do it anywhere public or incur significant civil liability and potential legal/criminal proceedings.
2. One's prospective audience has little to no warning that it will be a thing.
3. When the food is free then efficiency, quality, and consistency are of paramount importance.
Because of the need for travel to [~]Mare Fair[/~] large furry convention that definitely isn't Mare Fair, it would be necessary that most if-not-all cooking be done prior to travel to the event. Small things like sauces can be made on the fly (and with the most basic of wall-socket equipment) but anything requiring a day or more or extensive equipment/process will need to be pre-made and likely vaccuum-sealed.
For HarmonyCon, I'm thinking something simple like carnitas tacos, though if there's enough anti-pork
sus sentiment, suadero-style brisket is almost as good.
theres a fun story behind that.
All the sauces and cheeses and creams
:3, and salsas, and murderspice sauces, salt and lime, pickled onions,....
I'ma blow up faces with flavor.
But this is just the plan for HC, which was only conceived of weeks ago.
For totally-not MF', I want to have a
menu.
3-4 types of tacos (Suadero Chicken, Brisket, Carnitas, and?), 2-3 types of grilled cheese (short rib, chopped italian*, and 3-6(?) cheese with tomato consomme), smash burgers (with basic, intermediate, and autistic levels of ingredients and technique), and tbd.
*chopped italian can be served veggie-only for the sissies, or with crisped-up pepperoni
>>377627Tacos will be intended to be served gratis (we're frens now), but anything else will be broken down to a simple reduction of cost per individual serving; a chopped italian grilled cheese comes to like $3.20/each, and a basic smashed burger is <$2 if single (4.5oz) patty.
>>377628you mentioned legal liabilities and then decided to charge money which is exactly what opens you up to legal liabilities. Instead of this, tell people that if they want to participate in the potluck they need to bring food or drink
>>377629I mentioned legal liabilities for vending in public, yes. Also, these are theoretical values.
A potluck is a great idea imo, Im just offering free tacos. Unless youre talking about bigger con idea.
If you're wondering the distinction, it has to do with "public vs. private"
>>377627>But this is just the plan for HC, which was only conceived of weeks ago.>>For totally-not MF', I want to have a menu. >3-4 types of tacos (Suadero Chicken, Brisket, Carnitas, and?), 2-3 types of grilled cheese (short rib, chopped italian*, and 3-6(?) cheese with tomato consomme), smash burgers (with basic, intermediate, and autistic levels of ingredients and technique), and tbd.>>*chopped italian can be served veggie-only for the sissies, or with crisped-up pepperoniFor aake of knobs who cant into context
not for the first time
If we're referring to the "Not MF" plan, the legal insularity comes partially from that the 4-varieties of tacos (and sauces and all) will be for free.
Specialty ingredients - and thereby dishes - will have a collaborative resource cost (wherein there is an implied incorporation between myself and the resource presenter: I do the sourcing and cooking, the person pays cost of acquisition only, no profit).
Its LLC law, writ smol
And as to why alot of the menu is "tbd", its cuz what is capable to be made will depend first on what is wanting to be made. Looking at ingredients, having tacos available leads to over 2 dozen options for protein, starch, sauces/oils, etc.
This is why the idea for HC is to focus on tacos only
Just to subtly revisit this:
Where - convention or otherwise - are you going to be just plain given fresh-made, restaurant-quality tacos with all kinds of fixins? Or where in the same context are you able to get an over 1/4lb (precook, so ~1/4 post) seasoned classic cheeseburger with lettuce, seasoned tomato, cheese, grilled onions, and homemade in&out spread, for $2, or a double/double for $3, or,....
Bonus that they're a furry you can shitpost irl at while you wait.
There will never be profit, never what the idea is about; with 100% efficiency (lol) I'll break even (and that's without factoring the room price as a business expense, which could be done but that opens up liabilities that can't be managed). Don't worry, I'll be losing expending money on this
The signage virtually writes its self;
"You're my fren now, have free soft tacos"
"Room X betw 10a and 9p"
"kokiri.mp4"
pics prolly
>>377657Thats the bigger-con idea, HC would be more for (ahem) bronco-appreciating horse appreciators
>>377658With context, thats deliberated to be the standing order
New idea:
Kinda stupid, ngl, but hear me out.
Would you go to a panel/workshop involving pony pumpkin carving?
Without having looked for more, theres at least one pony artist that has stencils for ease
Pumpkin Carving aside,
(Happy Halloween btw)
>>>/ub/8073 →This right here is an example of what I am talking about/planning, except I'll be serving horsefuckers from a hotel room rather than family from home. Food will be properly and professionally (vacuum bags, dry/wet ice refrigeration) stored and all the necessary health and safety standards upheld.
$50-60 in cost to me (waiving labor) means 40 servings (precook weight) of 1/4 lbs, which breaks down to $1.50 each. 1/4lbs is just the meat, there will also be slaw and may fried onions or coarsely ground chicharron.
Whatever the final plating, its gonna be amazing, amazingly cheap, presented by a shitposting/talking furry cowe, who you can (attempt to) take down a peg pr two while they're makong ur sandwich.
I'm talking pulled pork sandwiches.
I'm talking the authentic street tacos.
I'm talking chopped italian grilled cheese sandwiches.
The whole 'kitchen 'doesnt have to be anything huge, it JUST has to be a memorable/noteworthy experience that participants will assocoate with /mlpol/.
No soapboxing, no real political discussion (jokes of course) unless it starts naturally, just one furry horsefucker bringing their absolite A game in the kitchen.
And they'll have all 3 days (more, depending on how registration goes this year ^_~) to filter through at their leisure during posted/advertized operating hours.
And who knows! Maybe I'll forget to cross a T, and wind up arrested/walked out in fursuit. Can you say viral (in the /mlp/ community)?
(And dont forget, the tacos are free)
Contemplating having a tip jar to be donated to the con/charity on behalf of /mlpol/ at the end
Omg thats it!
Weld a box with a slit in the top, for donations. Donation tiers get access to better/more portions/types of entrees. Everything donated at the end with a big 'ol /mlpol/ sticker plastered on the envelope, with glitter and shit.
There is no sale or purchase, its entirely a thank you for donation
>>377948Staff eats free?I know some of y'all get bored enough, and if anyone has ideas/suggestions, I would like to hear them>inb4 KYS, etc
>>377948you can't tie things to donations, otherwise they're purchases.
>>377952Are you citing anything specific, cuz A. I'm sure I can (I just havent figured out the leg/paperwork yet, but neither have you so who are you to say?), and B. You make a fair point. No pearls before swine
>>377952Not trying to be too adversarial but substance, please. The world is rife with tiered donations and rewards. The implication that I can't do the same with plates of food will need more than your disbelief as a citation
I think too much emphasis is being put on terms. The "tiered donation" idea is simple:
1. Free tacos (2 free cuz we're frens now) for signing an alias in the book, heres your stamp card.
2. Insert $ into the box, write amount next to alias in book (optional) and on stampcard (necessary).
3. $1, $2, $3 items, tracked by stamp on stampcard, different colors for specific tier.
The principle behind the tiers fpr fppd is with respect to the cost that I can now absorb and don't need to be paid back for BUT "you're" not getting my food, time, and effort without giving a little - ultimately, but by proxy - to the Mairfare/host charity. Give as much as you want, or eat well for a little.
It might need a little tweaking, but in that the convention is actively fundraising and encourage participation throughout - expressly to raise money for an established, publicized charity - means I simply have to document/maintain a thorough, good-faith effort to profit zero and participate likewise in the fund raising of the convention. And upon making that ultimate donation, I can dedicate/credit the donation to /mlpol/.
The only liability then pertains to food safety and available on-demand nutrition data.
I'll clear it all with a legal professional in advance, but it is seeming - the more I research - that I actually can mix donations and rewards.
>>377954>>377964>To be a gift for such purposes in the present context there must be, among other requirements, a payment of money or transfer of property without adequate consideration. As a general rule, where a transaction involving a payment is in the form of a purchase of an item of value, the presumption arises that no gift has been made for charitable contribution purposes, the presumption being that the payment in such case is the purchase price. Thus, where consideration in the form of admissions or other privileges or benefits is received in connection with payments by patrons of fund-raising affairs of the type in question, the presumption is that the payments are not gifts.https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/170
>>377977While you may not be a 501(c)3 charity, see earlier in the thread where you yourself were worrying about legal ramifications of selling food vs giving it away.
>>377977I appreciate your attempts to help, but when it comes to legal shit, I can't be certain that the purpose refferred to in "for this purpose" is accurate; I'm not convinced it is for several reasons, most expressly because there is no implied, expressed, intended, or available tax claims associated, which is where alot of such liability stems from.
Legal consultation is priced in. I'm looking at making the idea as good as it can be.
Let me rephrase. Let me worry about why it will be legal.
As my potential audience, I am interested in how I can make the idea better.
>>377979>I'm looking at making my mlpol meetup as good as it can beavoiding any chance of legal reprisal would help with that, you can't exactly serve tacos when some asshurt tranny calls you in for selling food without all of your Ts dotted and Is crossed. Good luck with your idea anon, I tried to help.
>>377978I missed this post cuz typing
You seem to have difficulty with the idea that this is an idea in progress/evolution.
I dont expect the idea to be perfect now. I do think the idea could be perfect in due course.
And no, Im not interested in listening to somepony who just wants to be a dick about shit is wrong, unconstructively, citing 50 page docus that MAY be related. Like I said, Ill pay someone for authorotative information.
>>377981>I tried to helpDid you though? It looks more like you were trying to score some sort of points. Faff off, regardless
>>377982>I started a public post on a public website>I don't want anyone's inputbrainstorm in a notepad document faggot
>>377983You misunderstand.
Your input is not constructive. Perhaps it could be, but currently it is laboriously not.
