That's just the thing, the Third Reich is what people think of when you say "far right", but in actuality it was really center authoritarian. It wasn't particularly conservative or even capitalist. On the economic front, it's strictly left if the United States: It had corporatism entangling industry with the state, public healthcare, heavy regulation, various public social programs and educational programs, etc. On the cultural side, it was as progressive as it was conservative: it didn't just want to preserve German traditions, but make new ones. Also, a lot of third Reich ideology was inspired by the American eugenics movement, which in and of itself was part of the American Progressive movement in the 1920s alongside other science-led positivist progressive ideologies of the time.
And yet people call them "far right" because they were mean to Jews, when economically and culturally they were center by any definitive metric.

See, this is another way the definition of Conservative/Progressive and Right/Left change. Left vs Right have their roots in the French Revolution, where the left wanted to tear down old hierarchies while the right wanted to preserve them. Thing is, since then, the status quo of western civilization has changed, because the dominant ideology to emerge after the French revolution was Classical Liberalism, and more recently it's been neo liberalism. Conservatism as a concept emerged in response to liberalism, but when conservatives want to conserve something for the past two centuries the thing that they've been conserving is liberalism.

Their fundamental assumptions do not line up with the most basic aspects of human behavior and motivation. "Class consciousness" is as imaginary as Bigfoot. It would require a people who do not grasp that their race is their extended family, who do not exhibit the kin preference that allowed our ancestors to cooperate and survive in a hostile world. I think that in many cases, perhaps most, it stems from sexual abuse. They're angry at Daddy for touching their pee-pee place when they were five, then promising them a pony if they'd keep quiet about it, and then welshing on the deal. This has made them genuinely unable to understand how human beings relate to one another, and left them emotionally stunted toddlers in adult bodies. They want their goddamn pony, and they want it now. And if they can't have the pony, burning down the world is an acceptable consolation prize. They love those beautiful, beautiful flames more than life itself. They talk about "equality" and "justice" and "human rights" but what motivates them is spite and a desire to get even with a vast intangible conspiracy that oppresses them by requiring them to work for a living and not fuck little boys in public. All those dumb townies, who stood by and didn't save them from the nightly cornholing by dear old Dad, they're gonna share in the suffering and the self-hatred. No corner of the world will be spared.

tl;dr the difference between "left" and "right" isn't arbitrary. It's the difference between "cackling methhead who wants to burn your house down because the voices in his head told him you probably deserve it for not funding his meth bender" and "person who doesn't want to see his house in flames." These people are monsters, and it is a mistake to think that it's 1927 and you're in a Norman Rockwell painting of a New England town meeting where people speak their opinions without fear of retribution and attempt to cooperate in good faith to find the truth and work together. They want you dead or in a gulag, and your kids raped by trannies. They think it's hilarious. They can't shut up about it. When people tell you who they are and what they want, you should listen.
