There's an incredible amount of fan-produced MLP content of all kinds. There are tons of repositories, hosting sites, boorus, and other places to get stuff.

Unfortunately, these sites sometimes get shut down when the person hosting the site loses interest or can't afford the hosting costs or upkeep time anymore.

Let's have this thread to try to promote and keep track of the various archival projects and siterip torrents we know about.

Pony Music Archive 20.09 (High Quality).torrent
Octavia_standing_vector.png
Anchor Post - The Pony Music Archive

https://ponemusic.net/

This is one of several Music Archives that have tried to archive as much fan-made MLP music content as possible.

There are three different quality levels of torrents available on the site.

Phone Quality is 99 GB in total
High Quality is 152 GB in total
Raw Quality is 880 GB in total.

I'm running the High Quality version of the torrent, and I'm reading 11 seeds and only 1 peer. The torrent is queued up and is not active, so these numbers might not be accurate.

Torrent links are on the site at the link provided, but I'm including the High Quality torrent link in this post because it seems like a good idea. Worth noting is that the version of the torrent linked here is from September of 2020, and that the intent of the archive is to gradually include more and more content in the highest quality level that the manager can find. That means that this torrent is a bit outdated.

Anchor Post - Spike El Clopero

Spike El Clopero down. It was a place you could go to find links to things like fan-made comic packs, and some exclusive content.

In the meantime, https://kemono.party/ has been suggested as a substitute, but a quick scan tells me that it's not primarily dedicated to MLP content.

Almost all the content that was linked to from El Clopero has been compiled into a torrent, linked here https://u.smutty.horse/lzhhiiqvwnt.torrent

The torrent file itself is ten megabytes, and the full archive is just over 500 gigabytes.

Right now, the swarm has around 6 seeds and 8 peers, so it's pretty healthy.

A note on Archiving: While this torrent does contain a lot of Anthro content, the purpose of archiving is preserving as much data as possible, not creating a "best hits" list of only the content that you personally like.

Oh, that's great. I remember something about a schedule, but didn't remember the details.

As far as other Music Archiving goes, I've found that the program Youtube-DL works pretty well to grab stuff from bandcamp. The string I use for the command line program is [ youtube-dl -o "%(album)s\%(track_number)02d %(track)s.%(ext)s" --write-thumbnail --audio-format "mp3" --add-metadata [URL of the Album] ]. The only problem with this so far is that I haven't figured out how to grab the lyrics for songs that have lyrics.

What should be on a To-Do list to add to this thread? I'm sure there are plenty of other fandom archives I don't know about, and other ways to efficiently archive material so that it doesn't vanish.

There's at least one story archive that tried to archive the best stories from the fandom, but that site froze a few years ago.

There are also at least two green repositories I know of. Maybe three, depending on how you count it.

With some awkward search terms, I've somewhat been able to find some SFM animations on naughtymachinima.com after the purge of animated and 3d smut from pornhub.

I kind of want this to be about archival projects that people could easily mirror, but making a bunch of threads for alternate ways to find purged content, new repositories of content on the web, useful file hosting services, and the like, seems like a bit disjointed.

The Fan Site alternative thread over at the Other Site has some good stuff listed, like a Mediafire rip.

Anchor Post - MLP Mediafire rip

This is copied from post 36440908 over in the Fan Site Alternative Thread on 4chan. I have not grabbed this to figure out how it works, nor have I downloaded it, nor have I thoroughly read the post.

-

The mediafire archive should finally be working. I changed the directory structure and everything seems ok. The speed wasn't that great when I accessed it on the ipfs.io gateway because I'm on DSL with only about 8Mbps up, but it should get better once people start browsing it using their own IPFS clients because visited files get temporarily pinned, or when someone pins the entire archive.
This version's address is:
/ipfs/bafybeihcturbjsigpznnu7yd4ele5gcmyinz3pf5s2zzb2md4cnltbwdum/browser/
and I also published it using this IPNS address which should always point to the newest version:
/ipns/k51qzi5uqu5dl2jcnf4uujanzt7rjuws58fo367a4oxv2oqcu5i5anaabh30y1/browser/

If you want to use your own gateway then install this:
https://docs.ipfs.io/install/ipfs-desktop/
and then you can access it using these links:
http://127.0.0.1:8080/ipns/k51qzi5uqu5dl2jcnf4uujanzt7rjuws58fo367a4oxv2oqcu5i5anaabh30y1/browser/
http://127.0.0.1:8080/ipfs/bafybeihcturbjsigpznnu7yd4ele5gcmyinz3pf5s2zzb2md4cnltbwdum/browser/

If you don't want to fuck around with installing an IPFS client you can access it using a public gateway:
https://ipfs.io/ipns/k51qzi5uqu5dl2jcnf4uujanzt7rjuws58fo367a4oxv2oqcu5i5anaabh30y1/browser/

Anchor Post - Poneb.in

The following text is copied from https://poneb.in/
The archives listed in this post are links on the poneb.in web page.

-

Welcome to ponebin!
This site is as bare-bones as it can be. The purpose of it is to host pastes which were deleted/privated by the automatic content filtering. Most of these are work of literature in green-text format originally posted in the /mlp/ board.

To use the site: replace the dead pastebin links with ponebin ones. Example: https://pastebin.com/ABCDEFGH should be changed to https://poneb.in/ABCDEFGH. If you are lucky the archive contains a snapshot of the given paste. If not, then you can try to searching on web.archive.org, or one of many 4chan archives which includes /mlp/.

This archive WILL NOT be updated if a paste gets updated, it only provides a snapshot of the pastes which were available at some point of time on pastebin.

All content on the site is from one of following archives:

mulpwiki 2016 January
mulpwiki 2016 September
mulpwiki 2017 May
Greentext collection May 2018
green.zip (2020 December)
PaleNarrator archive
lorelove_pastebin_backup_65_pastes
Use https://ponepaste.org/ for a pastebin replacement to store your horse related content.

The site does not uses cookies. I ate them all. All content found here are archived pastes from https://pastebin.com (user generated content, I take no responsibility). By continuing to use the site you declare that you are over the age of 18.

Work in progress. Report errors/etc in the "Fan Site Alternative Thread".

The site goes offline for a few minutes every day for scheduled maintenance at 3AM UTC.

green.zip guy here, once again advocating keeping a local backup (physical copies of political content where possible) of anything you don't want to lose. In the creation of my archive, I did end up picking up some political pastes, which I put in a separate folder. It's not as robust as my pony archive; I did not actively seek out /pol/ content, as I figured most /pol/ content had already been deleted and users migrated elsewhere. If there's interest in that archive, or you're looking for a particular paste, I could upload it too.

I also have a "otherpastes" folder containing just under 9000 files that didn't appear to be mlpol related, but I don't expect there to be much interest in that.

Frankly, I'm more in "frenzied archive mode" than "actually looking through and reading through what I have" mode.

If you've got an already-prepared archive of pastes like you seem do, then I'd encourage you to post it in general. It seems on topic for the board.

In the longer run, that kind of thing might be better off in it's own thread but in the short term, it can probably fit in this thread. I know I downloaded at least one, maybe two large torrents with various public domain books and movies that were supposed to be pol related. A lot of fitness, survival, and political philosophy stuff in there.

I have discovered a thing!

https://www.fimfiction.net/blog/939175/fimfarchive-20210301-released

This is a 3rd party project that intends to archive all the stories on FimFiction in Epub form. The archive is updated every 3 months, roughly, and includes the metadata in a large .json index file.

What follows is a copy of the post on the fimfiction blog. I've pasted the torrent and direct links after the place they'd normally be hyperlinked to. I tried to include the torrent file in the post, but I'm getting a "File not supported" error. I don't know why. You're not hurting for ways to get the torrent, so I don't think it's a big issue.

I don't yet know what the extracted size of the archive is yet. Text seems to compress pretty well, so who knows.

This isn't much but back in the early days of the fandom, one pony music maker called SoGreatandPowerful came on the scene making some amazing songs and remixes of a few other songs. A lot actually had great video editing too when they were uploaded to Youtube. But one day he just disappeared and started locking all his stuff down

Luckily years ago someone made an archive of all the songs and videos they could, so I implore you all to take a listen and take a trip to the best work of the 2011-2012 fandom

Good news, everyone! I was browsing the Fan Site Alternative thread on the other imageboard site, and someone brought out the most recent torrent that they put out.

It's Pony Music Archive 21.03.

There's the Phone quality, High quality, and Raw quality torrent. The High quality torrent looks like it's 156.57 GiB, and I haven't checked on the other ones yet.

Beats the hell out of me.

The site shutdown is talked about in some threads around May 15th, with the site posting the notice maybe a little over 15 days ago, based on other threads across the internet.

I do know that there was at least a small attempt to start a wave of takedown requests targeting the altboorus that didn't seem to go anywhere. Maybe something like that targeted the music archive.

I have one music archive from what seems to be August 2012. From what I can tell, I downloaded it or unzipped it around December 2012 or December 2013. Obviously, this one will be wildly out of date. I can't seem to find any information I can use to find an up to date version. This version is about 34 gigs, and includesaround 5000 songs.

I also have the Pony.FM music archive from September 2018. It's 89 gigs and has about 31,355 files in it. I see a bunch of .opus files in it. I tried doing a more detailed scan of it, but the program I was using froze.

-
So, there's a gap in the thread for a current music archive that will still be updated. The Pony.FM one might still be getting some updates, and any new archive can probably start from the Pony Music Archive 21.03 files to get a running start.

Rumor has it that some tranny was upset and told people to flag it for hosting music that was available on bandcamp to support music creators, therefore stealing from artist. With a righteous cause, they spammed the site with flags, which in the rules stated that the reports would be taken seriously. Rather than make an exception to this attack, or go through likely dozens after dozens of requests and try to figure out which were legitimate cases the host wanted to honor, he just pulled the plug.

Rumor also has it that there is a back up site somewhere. I haven’t found it yet, but if it exists, I guess best be quick before that is found too.

Alright, I am fucking BACK and ready to share some of my preservation work. I managed to download the entirety of mlptf2mods.com and I grabbed about every single MLP related mod I could find available on Gamebanana. It has all been compiled in to one 8 GB .rar file ready to use. All of the mods grabbed from Gamebanana are properly organized in folders and named with their page names.

mlptf2mods.com was a collection of MLP mods for Team Fortress 2. It's last major updates were from 2015, as such, some of the mods don't work, like the weapon skins, but the player models have been updated and still work okay. I will more than likely be updating this pack in the future, so consider this a VERSION 1.0.

Keep an eye on this project that Hitachi and Microsoft have been working on, 5D Optical Data Storage (I just call it "quartz memory"):
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/5D_optical_data_storage
>using a femtosecond laser, a quartz disc can be etched with 3d voxels
>the orientation and other features of these voxel bits can then be read back as data
>the current method allows for a data density of 360TB in a disc the size of a large coin (fits in the palm of your hand)
>since there's no electricity or magnetism involved in the storage medium, it is shelf stable for literally BILLIONS of years
>it can also withstand fire and temperatures of up to 1000deg C.
The tech is new but proven. Microsoft is already using it to archive Github (Project Silica), and there's a few other companies experimenting with it as well. Since it's obscenely shelf stable and has a very high data density, I expect it will become very popular in the datacenter world as a method of backing up data. Within the next 10 years I'm hoping this becomes available to the public. Imagine if we could get hold of one of these and put the entire pony fandom on it.
The only limitation is that it's write-once, but for archival that doesn't matter.

Been in the works for five years. From the prices of the material it's cheap. As in price point for a tube was $9 from China.
>shity quick rundown
You know the photos embedded in glass? It's that, but the dots are calculated to reflect the light back as information.
Just really small and really hot.
Making a 3d (plus rotation and orientation so '5d') with suffectient empty space between to ensure data structures are less error prone.
Because they are working with high temperature lasers it'a more energy and cost effective to have them as small as possible.

>Can this be done at home?
I think so. CD and DVD warp plastic to do this, both are cheap and flimsy and prone to error unlike the quartz glass disk.
However the temperature needed is a fire hazard. Not to mention more bulky than the storage medium. The precision needed is immense. That's the issue.
I think some short cuts are available to make our own cheaply and on larger scales.
<This is the little voices saying it's possible with current publicly avaliable commercial tech.
Maybe not of the same material, but of similar data storage that is easier to read/write. Going to go find out wtf that's all about.

That's a lie, they use the reflection of the metallic sheet (differences in manufacturing and purpose). Blue-Ray uses Blue light for more compact data.
The plastic is inert and is there for protection (ie if that gets scratched that too can warp the light, but the hard data on the metal still exists).
Thanks search engine.

I'm sure there's only a few machines in the world which are built to read/write on these things. It'll be years before the tech is standardized and enters mass production, probably a decade or more.

Oshit. I found this thread nearly at the bottom of the catalog. Gotta bump it, or see if it can be a sticky.

The thread for that was a while ago. 4chan threads usually don't last long. You could try one of the archive sites to see what threads were active at around the time of my post.

If you wanted a link to the torrent, then that's over in this post [ >>301999 ]. I'm hosting it, but I'm also hosting a bunch of other torrents, so I don't know how to prioritize it.

On the topic of preservation on writings and such from the past, is there any hope of unfucking pastebin and it's rush to private everything?

I tried using it for the first time in years only to have it throw a fit with the word "fuck" being used.

I wouldn't count on it. I'd suggest putting new content onto ponepaste.org, and plugging in old pastebin urls on poneb.in to get the old stories. There have also been several pastebin archives of greentexts you can peruse if you're looking for old stories. Also, make sure you make a local archive of your pastes, or any pastes you want to keep. I'm particular about the format I want my stuff in, so I keep trying to add metadata to the .txt files I download to include stuff like the author, write / download date, and other details.

I'll do my best to be more regular about this. If I don't have anything handy, I'll just manually bump it. Also, I did find this thread the day after it was revived. I just delayed my post here to make sure it didn't waste the early page location.

My Little Rock Band

Going back to the game mods mentioned earlier on in the thread, I stumbled on a "My Little Rock Band" project, which modded MLP music into Rock Band 3.

Description:

[Rock Band 3] "The Way She Flies" - Phileo

Uses the original master recordings for an authentic experience.
Part of "My Little Rock Band!", a game-modding project aiming to bring pony-related music to Rock Band 3.

If you're curious about how to get brony music into Rock Band 3 for Xbox 360, follow this guide:
http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/v...
The process is actually quite easy, and all you really need is a flash drive (or two) and a physical copy of Rock Band 3. It's also not illegal, and won't get you banned from Xbox Live or your console bricked. =)

Sorry, no support for PS3 or Wii.

For more pony-related customs, check out the channels of my fellow Rock Band 3 brony song authors:

Between the four of us, there are already over 100 brony songs for Rock Band 3! For a complete list of downloads, check out this comprehensive spreadsheet of every brony song for Rock Band 3 that I constantly keep updated:

And check out their threads on the ScoreHero forums:

The forum links all 404'd. Their exact URL when I clicked on them was https://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/v..

Brony Music Archive

I found another Music archive. This archive is specialized towards deleted and hard-to-find pony music, similar to the Deleted Pony Videos and Deleted Pony Songs YouTube channels listed above in this thread.

YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/CappppperGeneral
Website: https://bronymusicarchive.tumblr.com

The website also has links to music archive collections. I've verified that the Mega page exists and has content, but I haven't verified the number of seeds on the torrent.

MLP Music Archive v16 (Torrent)

The torrent was made on 2015-04-29, and is 112.47 GiB in total. There are going to be a ton of duplicates with my existing downloads, and I really don't know how to pre-screen for them before wasting the bandwidth and storage space.

If I were to start making themed torrents of stuff, like another collection of SGaPs stuff that includes the PMVs, what would the best tracker to use? Ideally, I'd like to use multiple trackers. As this is fan-made content, I don't see legal issues being a real concern.

Not sure what trackers would be good to use if you want to set up yourself, but there is probably a list out there.
One option to look into where you don't have to seed yourself to keep it alive is perhaps to look into creating collections on archive.org. They will provide torrent and direct download. I've been downloading lots from there as it is amazing what you can find there if you add an "site:archive.org" to your search.

While I'm here, how do you guys have your torrents set up? I download a bunch of smaller torrents (100mb and less) and then host a lot of them for other people to download. The issue is that I'm not sure how to prioritize the torrents that I really want to seed. Only a few torrents in my "actively seeding" category seem to actively search for leeches and send torrent data out. My total uploaded data on torrents seems very limited.
