You know people that get mad at video games and end up hitting the computer?
A lot of people suffer from that exact problem when it comes to "real" life.
The honkening is a group of people realizing getting mad has no point and instead of doing so they laugh, and that is good, it is a massive progress from what society has been up until now.
When anger and sadness are no longer in the way, the path to a clearer view of the world and a more objective way to solve its problems reveals itself; Just like a noob who hits his rig learns to actually play the game.
