How should Sethisto have handled Equestria Daily? How would you have handled it? I think its only pro is that its 24/7 active on content updates even when the fandom is almost dead.

I know little about this site. What I do know is pic related.

What would I have done with it? Simple, I'd make it a genuine news source for the fandom, explaining the weekly happenings and drama bullshit in plain language. Also, advertising a new underrated but good fic every day of the week. A different genre for each week.
Basically what I'd make on wordpress or something right now if I thought anyone would be interested. The fandom's accepted shit moderation and bullshit "Drama" for so long, I'm surprised we ever managed to get a home base where we weren't considered someone's paycheck or undesirables.

I personally would have handled it less like a news blog and more like a base of operations that tries to make a change in the pony fandom. Seth could have saved her, among others.

Fuck OCs I wanna read another repetitive story where human in equestria becom da coolest mage swordsman ever", we aren't a fandom that values creativity.
Yes, I said it. We aren't a fandom that values creativity. Fimfiction openly tells users to just write repetitive short interchangeable stories the normies like. Writers get together in groups to advertise their work to each other because the site's readers are so lazy and cancerous and unwilling to spare even a Share button click. Our most popular fanfic of all time is Past Sins, an Orphan Naruto fanfic with the names changed to pony names. Our second most popular fanfic of all time is a lazy combination of Fallout 3 with some shallow elements taken from MLP and 1/2 here and there without understanding why any of these things worked individually. It absorbed the post-apocalyptic pony, fallout+crossover, and future pony genres by being a big cancerous circlejerk where something that's Fallout Equestria But Explodier Also More Sex (Project Horizons) became that sub-fandom's new favourite thing for 5 years.
In this fandom, it's a content creator's responsibility to create content, advertise it, respond to fans and critics and genuine trolls in the same polite manner, and always act in a way the collective approves of.
And in this fandom, it's a watcher's responsibility to look at the content and maybe leave a comment or click upvote/favourite and call it a day.
Nobody advertises genuinely creative works on reddit and twitter and pony forums and any other website artists typically get banned from by ego-tripping mods for getting attacked by ego-tripping trolls with their mouths around mod dicks. Nobody supports the artists. Some people do, but not enough people, and Equestria Daily doesn't encourage fans to be helpful and constructive, it encourages fans to look at Equestria Daily every day to see what's getting on "Teh front page of teh internet but for ponies" today.
We need our own Equestria Daily. HorseNews might be kinda funny in a childish way but it just isn't good enough. We can do better, and we should.

Maybe someone can make a blog on Google or something (the same way EqD started long ago) and with the help of some anons over here share the good content. The problem is the current state of the fandom, it's not gonna get any better, but at least it will be a good portal for the ones who are left.

I think you are right and I have thought similar thoughts. I would like to write fanfics. I think I have an good understanding of how to write stories, atleast I think I can be unique or have a unique twist on a typical story. But my problem is the language. I think I am quite a good writer when I write in swedish but even though I have write like over 20 thousends of horse words I still have problems formulating what I want to say. I have a hard time finding the write word and so on. Because I have to think about both language and how to write the story, it becomes too bothersome for me and I quite after a while.
That is the dilemma I have and it is honestly quite frustrating since i can't share my stories with anyone intressted if they are written in swedish and I can't really write it in english.

I guess crossovers come from lazy people (myself included) that can't come up with their own premise for a story but they realise that they can't copy one so they combine two to get a "new" product. However mostly, I feel like they, don't get a new story. I think this because of two reasons:
1. They reuse one of the two stories' plot and universe but add something from the other story. Kind of what if, Twilight became a jedi knight and yoda's apprentice in the attack of the clones but she is quicker to realise than anyone else that Anikin is no good".
Or the plot is moved to another universe. In Death note: Equstria twilight is Kira and Lyra is L for like the first ten or so chapters it pretty much follows the orignal plot of death note.

In a crossover between mlp and fate stay/night it doesn't make sense for ponies to fight for the grail in their universe. Why not drop down king Arthur and excalibur while you're at it. Why is the wish granting artifact something that belongs in the pony universe, specificly its history.
In my version where I actually cross these two stories instead of having the grail I have an artifact that is called Luna's dreamcatcher. It has the same meaning in the plot as the grail had but mine don't feel out of place in this new universe. It grants wishes since it can catch your dreams and make the ma reality. It also have the same twist, that it is a weapon to destory everything, even though that twist was kind of meh, with the in universe explaination that as dreamcatcher catches nightmares, not dream and it has been catching all of Equstria's dreams for a thousend years it can bring eternal night.
