>>151305Welcome to mlpol! I hope you guys enjoy it here
>>151312seconded. I'm pretty hype for some changeling /pol/posting ^:)
>>151305Seems like you'll fit right in, unsurprisingly.
Did you guys get kicked off of /mlp/?
>>151318Didn't get kicked off, but the thread on /mlp/ was 99% bumps, .9% headcanon, and .1% green
>>151323Welcome and enjoy your stay. I think you'll find that this is by far the least cancerous of all the horse-related chans.
>>151324>least cancerous of the horse-related chansthat's not saying much though, is it?
>>151325Probably not, but these days you have to take what you can get.
>>151305Mind explaining what this thread's about to someone who's uninitiated in the art of /mlp/?
>>151305Welcome!
>>151315So that's the image they use for "Trommel," a Changling Hegemony general in the "Equestria at War" mod for Hearts of Iron 4
>>151305I unironically love bug pussy.
I'll be nice and spoiler it for now, though.
Probably one of my favorite rule34s.
>>151332That is some top tier stuff, for sure. Thanks anon.
>>151329Basically just discuss and talk about changelings. Activity on /mlp/ slowly started dying after the cancerlings were introduced. Since this is /mlpol/, maybe we can get some greens on espionage and government infiltration.
Since we're going on about old changelings.
I fucking HATE the fact that they didn't keep Chryssy's voice in that neat dual-tone sound effect.
I almost hate watching any episode with her in it after the Wedding one.
>>151348It was probably expensive/time consuming to create that voice, and some higher up probably thought the voice would be too scary for little girls. It's best just to treat everything post season 2 as a spinoff. Less headache, easier to watch, and offers a better base to develop greens/fan fiction.
>>151346That sounds like an interesting concept: The Life of a Changeling Infiltrator in Nazi Germaneigh.
>>151348This guy added the effect again for some changeling scenes post S2 finale.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ4DiWZ8_rs >>151380I need to be able to do this in 5.1 audio on my 1080p rips.
Then I'll be very, very, very happy.
>>151384Our Queen demands the best.
Now for the important question: clawgina?
>>151305The bugs have a lot in common with communism, they both lie, cheat, and infiltrate into the lives of everyday citizens until they become reliant on them or just die off.
but there is one big difference, the c
ommunists are and always will be, evil.
Is it wrong to find changelings really cute? Like ever since they were shown at the end of season 2 I've always wanted to cuddle as many as possible.
>>151479It is not. I was always roleplaying changelings and seeking out cute and fetish stuff with changelings. The concept makes for great cuddleporn and sad stuff, not to mention the idea of being exposed and desperate for that positive attention to survive, before finding out that the pony that knows its identity actually likes it just the way it is.
So, I have a question for all you: in your own headcanon, do you view Changelings as individualistic, hive minded, or some balance between the two, like having a psychic connection between all Changelings of the same hive while retaining individual identity and freedom of choice?
>>151497The way I see it, Changelings can become individuals over time, and a Queen has a psychic connection between them all. An individual Changeling can choose to ignore it or break it, but newborn Changelings see no reason to, unless they're treated particularly nicely by ponies outside the hive. From then on, new Changelings with their own senses of self can make their own bodies out of parts seen in other ponies, and live happily in their new forms.
I thought that would be a much better plot than "The changelings become good like they could have been all along, so they all become libtarded glitterbugs now".
>>151325Actually, you'd be surprised at how great this place is. NSFW is permitted here, and anonfilly has had its best year ever here.
>>151498It certainly is a lot better than "POOF, you are all now faggot deer".
>>151502Hell yeah. I also like the idea of "Shapeshifter chooses his new form, discarding his old one" a lot more than "Poof, hope you like your new sparkledog- i mean sparklebug form".
It's amazing, these writers wanted to pander to Changelings, but they accidentally removed everything that made them interesting and loved, especially the "Perfect roleplaying material for a new kid who's still figuring out who he is and who he wants to be" angle.
>>151504>but they accidentally removed everything that made them interesting and loved, especially the "Perfect roleplaying material for a new kid who's still figuring out who he is and who he wants to be" angleThat's...actually a rather deep message, and simple enough that their "target audience" would have been able to understand the meaning behind it. Sort of how I feel the CMC should have been like.
>>151305I usually enjoy the villain getting reformed. Discord, Moonbutt, even god damn starlight. But Ill never forgive them for what they have done to the changelings. They look like the worst OCs ever created
How much bug are changelings anyway?
>>151522I'd say 90% bug, 10% pone. More than enough to be freaky
and hot and alien, but nough pone to be recognizable.
Feel bad for Mommy Chryssy.
She's got a hard time back home.
>>151582That's what she gets for not using contraception.
>>151497I view them as individuals that inherently and instinctively understand the benefits and power to organizing together into a collective, if that makes sense to anyone but me.
>>151587I second this. Changelings were very tribal, but I think Chrysalis
and a certain character I refuse to name because fuck nu-changelings >:UUUUUUUU showcase a sense of individual identity and sentience, despite clearly being heavily collective in their actions as a troupe.
>>151587I don't think you need to worry, there's nothing that's hard to understand about what you said.
>>151497My current headcanon goes a little something like this: they function a lot like a blend between terrestrial ants, and ponies: in order to have such large numbers, they have just enough individuality to infiltrate, talk, and otherwise function in their roles, while still requiring a source of authority from a queen to function. Creating new types of changelings is a simple as modifying the diets of the 'children' while still in their larval stages, much like ants, which allows them to create new queens, or other varieties of changelings, should the need arise.
So yes, primarily hive-minded, but just individualistic enough to keep them alive and kicking.
The nu-lings being pozzed into what they are now will thus turn out to be a tragedy in the long run: they were never meant to be more than drones, and will perish from accelerated aging and dementia, their newfound """ascendance""" burning through their lifeforce at a rate they were never meant to sustain. All but the real mutant freaks of the pack, such as T**rax and P**rynx, will die slow, horrible deaths, thanks to the magic of friendship. Today seems like a good day for Cutelings.
Would you let her in /mlpol/?
Queen Chrysalis did nothing wrong!
>>151855>those first two picsJesus christ I was already depressed, now I just want to an hero.
>>151857Second picture has inspired me to write a little green

>"I tried! but it does fit the lock on the door.">she holds up the key in her magical grip showing you that she already obtained it>jesus christ"Of course it doesn't fit the lock on the door! why the hell would my spare key that I leave outside and could quite easily be stolen be for unlocking my front door?!"
>damn bugs don't know the first thing about simple home security>no wonder ponies can just stumble into their hives without even knowing it>"then what the heck does it go to?! The back door?""no! it goes to the lockbox!"
>"the lock box?... THEN WHY IS IT OUTSIDE?! and how does it help me get INSIDE you idiot!">holy crap, this bughorse is dumb>how can she not understand that the lockbox in the shed holds the key to open the garage, that has another key to open the toolbox that has the spare key to the front door?"do I really need to explain this again?"

>>151497My headcanon is that the “hump of the bell curve” population is a single minded hive that follows the queen and her rule. There are individuals that posses some individual identities but remain loyal to the hive/queen, the individuals are some combination of advisors/line of successors for the crown. Kinda like a communist/monarchy
>>151939I just got the game but I want this anyway
Where's a good tutorial?
>>152041>tutorialHa, get good scrub. Trial and error is the best way to learn.
>>152046That's how I've been going so far.
I've figured out everything except factories, ships, and planes.
>>152047those are the easy parts. Civilian factories do building and trade, military ones do all the equipment vehicles and planes, shipyards (not ports) do ship building. Planes need airport to be deployed and ships need a port to be fueled and refueled
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L70DjD3jQw8 - Air tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkHdxF18tlE - Navy tutorial
its a pretty simple game once you get the hang of it. Do you have all the dlc? because the game gets a bit better with each one, excluding focus trees that mods do way better.
>>152050Thank you.
How do the controls for military work? I drew an Offensive Line, but then my troops died fighting and lost it, even though they had better numbers before the fighting started. I died and had to start over.
>>152064The only other strategy game I've ever played is Fire Emblem. Does this game give a penalty to attackers when attacking to encourage defensive play?
>>152066unfortunately im worried this is turning into a HOI IV thread so this will be my last post on the matter, quite a bit goes into land combat, the ammount of soft/hard attack, the terrain, entrenchment, fortifications, hardness/softness of the target, weather conditions, organization, equipment, night/day, etc. Its weighted more on the side of the defender since defending a location you have entrenched or at least have local knowledge of will give a defender an advantage over an attacker.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbBjywJmcEM - land combat (bit more in depth)
ALSO! dont use frontlines from field marshals shits broken as hell, do it with your generals individually otherwise shit gets fucked.
>How do the controls for military work? Draw offensive lines and let your military do its job dependent on how you drew things out. Micromanaging is also helpful, and remember to always make sure that everything is spread out and all units where they should be. Make sure you also have a few units defending big cities and ports as well.
Another big things about hoi is units or order to die must either run out of equipment or outright die from being encircled like in pic 2. If it isn't encircled it'll just fall back. Another way to kill units is to overrun them, or to arrive in the province they are retreating to before they get their. Normally this is done with tanks or motorized units.
>but then my troops died fighting and lost it, even though they had better numbers before the fighting startedGo to the division designer like in pic 4 and 5 and try to edit your division next time when you get military experience. You can get this from training your troops or after a lot of combat. The more units in a division the harder it is to break, but certain things within a division template can also hurt (ex putting a single infantry unit in a tank division will slow it down from speed 12 to 4.) Good things to always have are soft attack, and hard attack but a good amount of HP (how easily your division will die due to lack of equipment) and organization (how easily your division will fall back.) Soft attack is how good your divisions is at taking on infantry, and hard is how easily they are at taking on tanks. Defense and breakthrough are for attacking and defending calcs. Lastly make your units normally go on a combat width of around 20 or 40.
>>152066>Does this game give a penalty to attackers when attacking to encourage defensive play?Somewhat but not really, its more mixed dependent on unit comp and how good you are at unitizing terrain and fighting through surrounding and getting modifiers like in pic 3.
>>152074Also yeah, this probs deserves its own thread either here or /vx/ I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has hoi 4, maybe we can get a multiplayer game going soon™.
Redpill me on the bugponies. I watched the show when I was young but never went on /mlp/ much but am a /pol/ice officer.

>from the sound of this ones voice, you think it might be the drone you have taken to calling "Chirp" on account of it being the one that chirps to get your attention even when it doesn't need to be quiet
"thanks, Chirp"
>the other changeling looks amused starts to giggle
"what is it?"
>"That's not Chirp Anon, I am."
>well shit, you thought you had actually made some progress with identification
"well, you all look the same to me. You know, for a species known for shapeshifting you'd think you would have some defining features to tell each other apart in your normal state"
>Chirp, for real this time, looks at the other changeling
>"What do you mean Anon? I don't think we look anything alike."
>"Yeah, her wings have a different pattern"
>"and his fangs are longer"
>you chuckle as you down the last of your drink
"I couldn't even tell what sex the two of you were until you just told me."
>well, you probably COULD if you tried hard enough.
>but why bother?
>I mean, there's only two things they could be male or female so it wouldn't help identifying them too much.
"The only ones I can easily distinguish are your Queens, Royals, and Nobles. And that's just because they have manes and horns that are unique."
>Chirp smiles before a green flame briefly engulfs her
>when its over, she has a gray mane with strands of white and light blue tossed in as well as a slightly different horn
"well now I'm fucked if you assholes start pulling this shit on me on a regular basis. go back to normal before someone gets pissy and reports you to... whoever you bugs report to out here."
>Chirp giggles and the other changeling starts to peer out of the foxhole apparently on the lookout
>really that's what you are supposed to be doing
>but fuck that, you're not getting your head shot off for no reason
>"No one is going to report me to anyone Anon, because I am the one who does the reporting."
>now that you're finished with your empty cup you place in down in the dirt and take out your journal and pencil now less interested in the current conversation
>but since there isn't much else to do you continue
"Oh yeah?"
>you begin to draw a sketch of the foxhole you are sitting in with as much detail as you can muster with half frozen fingers
>"Yeah. Like you said, you can identify those who look more unique. So can anyone else, when we're out in the field like this we need to hide our appearance, but if we look like a pony or anything else-"
"then you are at risk of being shot by your own. I get it. clever."
>looking up from your sketch and see the gray haired changeling giving you a slight frown
>you shrug
"what?"
>the apparently annoyed noble casually lays down
>"I just wanted to explain it is all-"
>you close up your journal sketched outline only half done and start rubbing your hands together
>"You're the only one I can talk to and explain my thoughts to out here. All the changelings already know what I want them to do though our basic hive mind or are other nobles who can communicate with me the same way and already know what I'm going to say before I say it."
>oh, that's interesting
>sorta
"Alright, well if you like explaining stuff, I have a question."
>Chirp looks mildly excited at you and sits up
>"sure, what is it?"
"Why the Hell have we not advanced from this position in the past two damn months?"

I have a theory about the nu-changelings... You know how some butterflies don't have mouths, because after hatching from the cocoon their only purpose is to mate before they die? It would explain how nu-changelings don't drain love anymore, in addition to having bright colors most likely to attract mates. The reason Chrysalis didn't want changelings to "evolve" like this is that the hive needed workers to bring food, not breeding drones that eventually die.
>>152253That said, this may well be my most unpopular opinion of all time but I have come to love the new changelings. Their design weirded me out at first, but episode after episode it has become more and more fitting to how overtly kind their new race is. They are an entire species to which loveliness and warmness are not just cultural things but outright biological necessities!
Hell, King Thorax had been becoming my favorite character for a long time, until School Daze finally sealed the deal. He was the only one who never acted irrationally (and cutely even pointed it out when Ember was holding the idiot ball), and even after everyone got insulted by Channelor Neighsay he made a point to tell Twilight he held no ill will towards her. He's even more soft than Fluttershy, and that makes him a wonderful king for his nice, happy hippie people!
>>152293Okay, Vril. What are you on about this time?
>>152295I suggest the culture of the bugs is oscillating until it reaches a new balance now that the Chrysalis anchor has been removed.
Daily Reminder that Bugbutt has no butt
>inb4 MUH BATELFURM
>>152315What if Chrysalis was the base line and Thorax and the nu-lings are just the first wave in the oscillation before it radically shifts the other way?
>>152327Doesn't matter, I'd still fug that bug
This post has politics in it. Please avoid reading it if you are sensitive.
Chrysalis is pony Hitler. Fiercely defensive of her people and aggressive to other nations. Pony Hitler's invasion of pony Poland (Ponyville) and capturing the mane 6 results in the pony Allies invasion of pony Nazi Germany. Until pony Berlin is destroyed and captured. At the end of pony WWII the bug hippie movement emerges, to such a degree that it is unable to protect itself from one immigrant.
Then.. who are the heros that save the nu-lings? The two most selfish main ponies in the show. The bugs are out of balance as nu-lings and the writers are doing this on purpose. I could read it as a anti-commentary on Lefty/SJW/hippy hopium. The discomfort many feel at the change I would suggest is purposeful. The two selfish ponies who are there solution (Trixie and Glim) are a reminder to the nu-lings they need a balance of being loving and being selfish. Therefore they are oscillating between the extremes until Harmony emerges.
I won't be surprised if the nu-lings Übermensch up a bit, and Chrysalis calms down and they meet in the middle in the future, and re-ally.
It amuses me greatly that the writers made /mlp/ REEEEE so hard.
Also what is Harmony but Centrisim?
>>152347I....

>>152370They have the captions, but they aren't like they used to be
>>152262GAY DEERS GET OUT
I just hate their colour scheme, actually.
>>152347This is a bit confusing because they kind of make the nu-changelings out to be 'harmonious' rather than confrontational. But, does this mean the nu-changelings are the result of denazification?
>>152378I am stepping into head cannon I suppose. So let me go fully in. The alleged harmonising is propaganda from the Mane 6 and the Royal Sisters. They believe it, but are the Mane 6 and the Royal Sisters the actual deciders of what is Harmony? I suggest no.
The Royal Sisters were originally taught Harmony from the Tree of Harmony, the ToH is crystalline and the result of a spell from the Founders. This crystalline thing also then build Twilight's Castle and the Crystal Map. The Crystal Map sends the Mane 6 and friends on missions to restore Harmony. So I suggest the Crystal spell is the only decider of what is Harmonious. The Royal Sisters and the Mane 6 are subjects of the Crystal spell, admitted or not. They have ursurped their position in deciding for themselves what constitutes Harmony.
If you re-examine the show you'll find Crystals control much of the major destiny of the ponies. Yet no pony comments on it.
I do think an opportunity was lost by not having the Map send Trixie and Glim to the hive. Perhaps that not happening is further indication that the result is not harmonious?

Idea 2.5 i guess
anon goes through mad realms, ends up in equestria
specifically, the everfree forest
because he got so fucked about during the trip, he has it in his head that he is destined to be king of the lands, and begins building a giant castle right in the middle of the everfree
now because humans come from no magic, sensing magic has to be mapped to a sense they have already
it gets tacked onto sight
everything looks like a hologram of itself is right on top of itself, and a sort of thin mist is everywhere
when something like a unicorn comes along, he actually sees spells form and the magic around (the mist) react accordingly
so as he's building the fortress, he manages to keep everything from being all blurry and weird by drawing a symbol (turns out to be an anti-magic symbol) on the bricks/walls/stones
obviously he didn't arrive unnoticed by the ponies, and the sisters take an interest
they try to send some ponies over, but anon view them as violent invaders from some foreign power
next they try to send message via letter, messenger, and dream that they want to talk
all messages are seen as further threats of invasion and violence by a very powerful nation
the letter is deemed to be all lies to create a false sense of trust (and they have the blurry hologram crap all over them. can't be trusted)
the messenger was clearly a spy to learn the lay of the land. unintelligible sounds from the horse creature are clearly declaration of war
the visions are more dark magic threats that they will come, and come with an army!
misunderstandings abound, leading to numerous injuries but miraculously no deaths
likely to end up being heavily a comedy, with glimpses into the horrors of insanity that is king anon's scrambled marble jar
now this one is where I could most easily make chrissy be the intermediary between anon and equestria and later the rest of the world
this one is even less fleshed out, as i don't know where to begin with how to insert chrissy does celestia convince her to as some sort of peace deal? does she do it herself because she sees opportunity? idk yet
and after that, how do i progress it to an actual conclusion? all i got is slice of life bits and bobs
might be a good excuse for me to practice political intrigue
one of those have sort of a beginning, mostly a bunch of middle bits, and no end in mind kind of deals

>Experiment #1: Really big slingshot. Twenty changelings tested. Longest flight: about four hundred meters. Injuries: broken limbs and wings, concussions. Most wanted another ride.>Experiment #2: Two changelings in flight pushing a third changeling to high speeds. Three changelings tested, at altitude. No injuries, but no great improvement on performance, either.>Experiment #2A: Four changelings in flight pushing a fifth to high speeds. No injuries, and a brief but measurable improvement.>Experiment #2B: Four changelings on the ground pushing a fifth in flight to higher speed by magic. No injuries, and a significant, but temporary, improvement in speed.>Experiment #2C: Twenty changelings on the ground. Another changeling (Dragonfly, the hive’s fastest flyer) flies overhead, and the twenty changelings push simultaneously by magic. Dragonfly ended up out of action for weeks in a body cast. She reported (when she finally regained consciousness) that she blacked out as soon as the mass spell touched her, and that she regretted missing the flight, which the changelings on the ground reported as “awesome but short.” >>187177>start writing>get a little past introduction>start writing changeling introduction element>come to the realization that as it currently is creates a massive plotholethat kindof breaks the story>have to rewrite>and study moonrunessorry man, i'm trying
