>>122502So, basically a de-politicized version of Christianity?
I find it funny that you baked this bread right after I made my own post in the "Feeling Hopeless" thread. >>122514That's the impression I got too when reading the article.
>>122502Kill yourself you God-damned degenerate.
Personally I think this seems like a lot of nonsense. This seems like the kind of half-baked "I'm not religious I'm spiritual" bullshit that every hippie girl I've ever known likes to babble about while doing yoga.
I'm not a Christian and I'm not entirely sure if I believe in God or not, but I've definitely come to recognize that religion is good for people and civilization basically needs it to exist in some form in order to function properly. When you set issues of faith and theology aside, it's ultimately the traditions and structure of a religion that give it its social value. Having a set of common beliefs, and rituals and ethics derived from those beliefs, is what binds the members of a religion together and makes it a community. The belief that a religion's tenets are literal truth and of divine origin is a part of it. If you don't have that belief then participation in the religion becomes optional and ultimately pointless, which breeds apathy and makes the religion and its followers weak and purposeless.
As far as I can tell from this article "Christian atheism" seems to be about following Christ as a moral example rather than a deity, which I see as kind of pointless and stupid. "Christ wasn't actually God, he was just a nice guy who wanted people to love and be nice to each other." Well, okay fine, that could very well be true, but so what? You could say the same thing about Jerry Garcia. It's just people trying to achieve the personal fulfillment that comes from participation in a religion without having to actually participate, kind of like putting yourself on a diet and then making up complicated excuses for why it's okay to eat a piece of cake.
Being a Christian means accepting and conforming to the tenets of the Christian religion, if you don't want to do that, then by definition you're not a Christian, or at least you're not a very good one. Religion is an important component of a society and it needs to be allowed to exist in its pure form, where individuals either meet the criteria to be called a participant in the religion or they don't. A religion can still serve the needs of a community even if not everyone in the community participates, but this kind of feel-good libertine bullshit serves absolutely nobody imo.
>>122609By golly, he gets it. You sir said it better than I ever could.
>>122633>Jesus called Jews the descendants of Satan>Jesus was killed by JewsIt's pretty disgusting that Jews hate Christians so much they are even willing to call them Jews to turn people away from their faith. Christianity is the antidote to Judaism, it will destroy it. God hates it the most when you lie about His word and try to claim he will not be sending the Jews of today straight to hell.
>>122502Literally Jordan Peterson. He says he doesn't believe in God but he considers himself a Christian, emphasizing the importance of striving to be like Christ.
