>>170262Posey pushes it out of the way, though it's still a danger to the larger barn. Posey can see that two more fires have been lit. One, along the left, was left in a pile of debris, and seems to be catching along, spreading along the wall. Another is much less successful, placed directly along wood.
Posey hears a "Bang Bang," so clearly, the spirits have found something.

Does she see the enemy?
If they're within 170 ft, Posey would like to use her Spectral Hand to attack.
Posey orders the thralls to engage.
I assume you meant ten yards, which should be within 30 ft of Posey.
GM, it's midnight for me, so I think it would be better to continue this tomorrow.
>>170271I can do all day today though.

>>170271Does Posey see anything?
[1d2 = 2]>>170269The one with the rifle starts shooting, while the one with a spear advances.
[1d20+1 = (13+1) = 14]I do mean 100 yards. Posey can see that the soldiers have, after leaving the barn, attempted to cross the field to go in the direction of the farm house. At this point, they have not completed that process, and are looking back, while trying to move. 100 yards is likely a greater distance than they actually are, but they may or may not be within 170 feet of the edge of the barn. Their electric torches make them easy to spot in the night, although the grass is rather tall, and between the blinding effect of the light and the night, it's hard to see much more than the torches.
August, however, is much closer to the barn, though he is more than 30 feet away. He is looking back towards the spirits, and the barn. He is holding, in his turquoise magically aura, the submachine gun previously held by Succored Brave. The magazine is not in the gun. He has it beneath his mouth. He looks down to it, says something at a low volume, and once this is done, places it back in the top of the submachine gun.
>>170274If August is within 170 ft, I would like to make an attack with my Spectral Hand.
>>170277Gonna expend my final spell slot to cast Inflict Light Wounds, with my charnel touch. Hopefully I hit.
Although, if I don't, I should still be able to hold the charge, unless I get shot and fail concentration next turn.

But not before August can pull back the hammer on the submachine gun, and yell at Posey
"What do you expect to accomplish, Aberrant? The Great Mother did not make you. You are no form nor hue of mortal things, framed and knit by the Mother's power. Do you think you will prevail?"

Posey shouts, as she lurches forward.

>>170299That's "The appearance of your death for

I...
think that's a hit, with the prone bonus not applying.
[2d4+4 = (6+4) = 10] >23 damage in two turns
That's a lotta damage
How much HP does Posey have left?
>>170299Well, that's an interesting proposal.
On one hand, I have no idea if I can defeat him alongside the rest of the band, on the other hand, it's a viability to let him know I'm around... Idk how the bloodhound is going to respond either... Decisions, decisions...
Posey shambles in a zombielike demeanor as she stands up in spite of the wound.
"Well, a-aren't you the gentleman. You'd walk away from this for little ol' m-me?" She replies, in her usual cheery and flirtatious voice, with a touch of sardonic humor, a slight gurgle to her voice as one of her lungs fills with blood and corrupt icor
Posey
>>170300Bonus for prone would still apply, as it occurs before, not after the fact.
Ouch.
Posey winces at the bitter sting of the magic sword cutting into her.
>>170301With this, Posey is at less than half health, her fast healing kicks in, her corrupted flesh and skin writhing around the edges of the sword as it attempts to heal itself.
I still get XP if I parley with him, right?
>>170302August does not let his guard down, holding the sword up and ready to swing it, even as he speaks to Posey. Of course, it's Posey's turn, so she gets the next move regardless.
August's charismatic and slightly accented voice sounds off because of his clogged and bleeding nose, but what gets through more than anything is a sense of annoyance.
"I don't
care about you, nor that basement. I'm here on business for other matters. Let my comrades think I killed you and picked up what is inside my bag from that cave so I may save face, then I don't care what you do."
>>170304Yes >>170305Posey mentally, and wordlessly, telepathically commands the spirits to retrieve the bag.
If that's not possible, she commands her Unseen Servant to do so instead.
She cocks her head, twisting her neck joints in a rather uncanny, disgusting manner
"You know, I came here thinking I would get to kill a paladin; it's a rather prestigious accomplishment where I come from... Although, hunting down the rest of your cell would be a real chore. I can't have you blabbing about my presence either though, so, do I have your word, as a paladin, that you'll keep what happened here our little ~secret?" she says, with a chilling giggle
"The Leto's servants are rather eager to get a taste of the stallion who slayed their master. But that's their problem, not mine."
>>170306Posey can command, but be advised that both are far away, and will take time. The attempt may or may not be successful.
"Of course it would be, with how rare it is." He has a malign smile.
"Call it 'my word,' or whatever, just pretend to die so that I can get on with our plan."
He looks past Posey, though only for a moment.
"Hold them back or let them come, the only taste they will get is the same as you recieved."
>>170307Posey ponders for a moment, but then considers she could simply change her mind later if she feels like it.
She shrugs.
"Oh well."
She drops prone, her eyes glass over, and she plays dead, not moving a muscle, her innards spreading out across the grass.
>>170308Posey hears, and has heard, more gunshots. As she does not hear the sound of bullets approaching, these must not have been intended for her.
August makes an "Ugh!" sound, stabs his sword into the ground, and then picks it up, and slices off a peace of Posey's cloak, which he picks up with his magic. He then sheathes the sword, pulls out his submachine gun, and fires
Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang Bang BangEvidently not intended for Posey, as every shot misses her, but hits the ground. He backs away, as he pulls out a second gun.
>>170309Posey waits, playing dead.
>"Do as you wish for the time being."Posey relinquishes command over her spirits.
>>170310Posey hears three more gunshots from the submachine gun, then more gunshots, then more, as August evidently is withdrawing. Based upon the sounds of feet stomping and gunfire, the battle is surely continuing. Does Posey continue waiting the next few rounds?
>>170311Yes.
Posey heals herself with her charnel touch, at a rate of 2 HP per round
>>170312Posey hears a "pop," lighter in intensity than any gunshot before, and a red ball blazes through the tall grass, bounces against the ground, and continues onwards. The grass along the trail of the fireball starts to catch fire.
>>170313Does the fire threaten to burn Posey?
If so, she'll move away.
>>170314The line of fire is near Posey, maybe 10 or so feet away, and is starting to catch on. the grass is in that happy medium where it is dry enough to catch fire, but wet enough that it does not burn cleanly, but produces decent amounts of smoke. Posey does
not need to move in the next few turns to avoid taking damage, as it is far enough away.
After the passage of more time, maybe another two rounds, there is another "pop," and another ball of fire shot through the tall grass.
[1d20 = 2] >>170315Posey continues healing herself until she has to move.
>>170317Can Posey see what it is?
>>170316>>170317>>170319Yes, though only out of the corner of her eye. It's a ball of flame being shot through the grass of the field.
From behind, posey can hear
"Атакуйце, шчаняткі!" And more gunshots
[1d20+8 = (1+8) = 9][1d20+8 = (10+8) = 18][1d20+8 = (9+8) = 17][1d20+8 = (13+8) = 21][1d20+8 = (5+8) = 13]Though the fire inches closer, it isn't exactly Posey's life being threatened at the moment.
>>170320Posey makes due on her agreement to play dead, until the fire gets near her.
Tell me how many rounds it takes for her to need to move, so I'll know how much she healed.
>>170321After the passage of about six rounds/36 seconds, the fire feels uncomfortably close.
The fire is producing copious amounts of smoke, which gives cover. The meadow did not catch fire quite so successfully on the "right" side, which is to say the area immediately in front of the barn. The only sources of light, besides the half-moon, are the burning barn, in which it appears one of the two fire set has caught on and was not put out, and the fire in the meadow that is now between Posey and the ELF cell. Posey may cast a shadow from the fire in the barn.
>>170322Posey crawls, at 10 ft per round, to cast no shadows.
>>170323As Posey moves up, she is able to get a clearer view of what is going on:
August and the ELF cell are fighting at range in evident retreat, as the Bloodbourne is commanding the thralls to attack. The Bloodbourne himself is commanding from the back, near the barn, and evidently is fighting with magic.
A flare is shot into the air, lighting up the meadow as though under a full moon, though the smoke still obscures Posey’s position.
>>170325Posey continues crawling.
>>170326Posey could crawl her way to the edge of the mound and ultimately either into the hole going to the cavern, or behind the mound and onto the riverbed. She could crawl a little to the right and towards the barn, but it is both on fire, and a center of attention.
Gunshots tell that the battle is still going on, although it's a little more distant now, as it seems the entire group has moved back
>>170327Posey decides to head back to the cavern.
>>170328>>170330The gunshots die down, and Posey seems to be alone in the night. The flare takes some time, but it falls to the ground.
The fires in the barn and in the meadow burn on at greater strength, still finding fuel.
>>170331Posey proceeds to the underground entrance, determined to investigate it before she leaves this place.
>>170332Be advised:
The entrance is a simple hole in the roof, going about 15 feet down into the cavern below. While Posey could likely ease herself down such that she could enter the cavern without taking damage, she does not immediately have a way to exit through that same hole, and the barn is now too dangerous to exit through.
>>170333Posey just jumps, taking the fall damage, having surpassed the end of her patience.
>>170334Posey enters the cavern, finding it free of thralls, the bloodbourne, any paladins, rebels, soldiers, hyenas, or any other kind of meddling forces. Posey can only see with her dark vision, which does not illuminate many of the contents, but nevertheless she can see much strewn about, like some clothing, two coffins, and innumerable scratchings on the wall.
>>170335Posey decides to search the lair thoroughly, seeing if there truly is any treasure to be found here
I have to step out for half an hour.
I guess I'll roll Search
[1d20+3 = (17+3) = 20]
>>170337There's not a whole hell of a lot, but there is certainly more than none.
The most valuable items by far seem to have been looted from a bishopric's treasury: A sun shaped monstrance, a silver chalice, a silver ciborium, and a phylactery. And no, not for a lich, but apparently for a pony saint, unless the White Severyanan Lichs were
very bold about their hiding places. Posey does not actually know how valuable these items are, but certainly they amount to several pounds of silver, as well as gold plating.
There are also a few rings, a brooch, a couple necklaces, and perhaps a few dozen silver coins and a few gold coins. There's also a jar of dirt, multiple road maps, two rather nice looking portrait paintings, and a rather large shield with elegant heraldry.
>>170340Posey takes anything remotely of value and stuffs them in her saddlebags.
>>170340>portrait paintingsThose won't fit in her saddlebags...
I guess that's what Floating Disk is for.
>>170341>>170342The items, like the monstrance, are physically big, so that's not as easy as you may think.
And of course the paintings will not fit.
>>170343She'll have to use the disk then.
Although, she can't carrying them out into the burning barn without risking damage.
Posey spends a minute healing herself.
>>170344https://youtu.be/KWOV8bPUCS8?si=G1YOv3qL1B8JiFM6Posey does so. No one enters the cavern, but Posey does not know whether the Bloodbourne or the ELF team are still somewhere outside.
>>170345I am suddenly wondering why I relinquished control of those spirits...
Posey goes to the entrance of the cavern and waits for the fires to die down.
>>170346Posey may have to wait for hours, should she chose to exit through the barn after the fire dies. Then again, for the undead, there is all of the time in the world
>>170347Posey would prefer to return to her lair before Gloomy wakes up.
Could she somehow bundle the items on the floating disk to protect them from the flames as she runs through? She doesn't care about a little fire herself.
>>170348She can most certainly try, either going through the barn, or finding a way straight up.
Rember there are a pair of caskets
>>170349What are the caskets made of?
She could load the treasure into the casket to protect what's inside.
>>170350Wood, although at least it's a hardwood
>>170351I guess that'll do.
Posey gets to work loading the casket, before reading herself to sprint through the fire.
I guess I'll preemptively roll reflex to avoid catching fire
[1d20+8 = (19+8) = 27] >>170352Just for good measure...
[1d20 = 18]Does Posey wish to go out the usual way, turning right, and thus towards the meadow and the farmhouse, and likewise whoever may still be there (or not, as bodies would also be present)? Or does she wish to sidestep this area, and go left, to the riverbank?
>>170353May as well go left first, for good measure. She can circle around later.
>>170354>>170353Posey attempts to discreetly view the battlefield.
>>170354>>170355Posey is able to deftly maneuver around the burning wagon, away from burning walls, and a lone burning beam. Or at least, far enough away that the wood does not catch fire. Posey may want to stamp out her cloak, and her eyes certainly dry out.
To the immediate left, the ground dips down into a very small valley, or recess in the ground, around what is surely a dry creek, that may still run with water at some times of year. There isn't that much vegetation, with a few plants and high grass. The center is dried mud, and baren limbed trees line the rim.
>>170355Posey looks out to see that the Bloodbourne from before is still there and "alive," though clearly damaged.
>>170356What's the bloodborn engaging?
>>170357He is not fighting, but kneeling.
>>170358Posey's spectral hand should have passed its duration by now.
If Posey doesn't see anymore enemies, she'll approach the Bloodborn.
>>170359>>170360>>170361I can't recallHe's in front of the meadow, between it and the barn. His priestly robes are now a bit tattered, clearly pierced by multiple gunshots. He kneels on the ground, looking down. It isn't clear if he is praying or mourning. He turns back towards Posey as she approaches.
"I thought you had been destroyed." He says to her
>>170362"I'm not so easy to kill, even if I'm a lowbreed..." Posey replies, putting a hoof on his back and healing him 2 HP
"There is nothing left worth guarding here. It's time to go. There's a major not far from this sight, connected to the League: come with me."
