>>142176He smiles at her.
"I suppose that is what is taught in Ngua Nam?"
>>142179"In many places. Yes."
>>142178They take seats.
One stallion and three mares enter
>>142180"A table" the lone stallion answers
>>142180"What about things other than philosophy of sex? Things such as how it is performed and like?"
>>142183"Uh... oh! Stallions are more desirous than mares. So mares must provide themselves for it as a part of their duties as wives, lest the stallion be overcome with desire."
With this, she sits up, and smiles in a weird way, like she has the special pleasure of answering questions correctly on a quiz.
>>142184He looks skeptically at Amber.
"I suppose we could..."
>>142185"You'll like the waiter, he's very…goodhearted, that's it," she says, almost in a pushy manner. She leads them to the patio entrance.
>>142185Silver smiles back and chuckles a little at her answer.
"I do not know, my former wife may have objected to that statement."
He resumes to smiling warmly at her.
"What about actual deed, itself?"
>>142187She shakes her head
"It is never wise to object to one's duties."
She places a hoof to her chin
"What do I know." And she thinks
"Uh... it should result in pregnancy."
>>142186And so, the ponies are herded outside onto the patio by Amber
>>142188With a small smile, she looks over to Mustard Trim to see how he's doing.
>>142189Hard to say precisely what he's thinking, but a pretty good bet is "I wish I were paid by salary and not tips" right about now
>>142188"No no, that is not part she would have objected to most, though no doubt that was not her own personal philosophy. She would have objected to idea that stallions desire sex more than mares."
Silver addresses her answer, next.
"It can, if you are currently in estrus."
>>142190Amber feels a pang of guilt upon seeing his expression.
>>142191She looks down, having clearly not anticipated either of Silver's two answers
>>142192Two more enter. Mares
>>142193Her reaction, particularly to his second answer, confuses Silver.
"...did no one tell you about estrus?"
>>142194She tilts her head
"Maybe it has different word in our language?"
>>142195[1d2 = 1] >>142196>>142195One of the two mares is highly skeptical. But the other is more receptive
"Sure. That, or the bar."
>>142196"Alright, well, it is term we use for fertile periods females go through. Is there word in your native tongue for that?"
>>142197"The bar is over here, but I think you'll like our patio." She does not give them a high table but rather one of Mustard's tables.
>>142199Silver waits for a short time for a response from the kirin. Should none come, he responds instead.
"Well, would you like to learn about it?"
>>142200The tables are wooden.
The two mares sit down, and are quickly attended to by Mustard Trim
Two stallions come in.... and they are strangely familiar looking, wearing hats indoors
>>142201"Uh...."
>>142202Silver continues to wait for a response from Khoi.
>>142203"You could say that, miss."
He smiles at Amber, and speaks with an accent.
>>142204She lays back down on her belly on the bed
>>142205"Is that yes? No? You have other question you want to ask?"
>>142206"I... I figured I'd learn when i had a partner..."
>>142207Silver decides to lay down on the bed as well, facing her. It's a more comfortable position for the pony.
"Why is that?"
>>142208"Nah no no... Who is miss 'Sewn'?"
He looks unconvinced himself
>>142209"Well... why not?"
>>142210"More informed you are for your first time, better it will go for both yourself and your partner. You only get to have your first time once, after all. It would also be awkward if your partner ends up being somepony who knows little about sex, himself, then how would you learn?"
>>142211"Then I've probably seen you. Forgive me miss. I see a lot of ponies."
>>142212"I... I think I will be able to manage it."
>>142213Silver tilts his head at the kirin in front of him.
"How so?"
>>142216"Nah, it's the bar for us." He smiles, and tips his hat
>>142215He's silent for a second, before he asks his next question.
"Can I ask why you are uncomfortable talking to me about these things, when you were curious enough to ask Jubilosa?"
>>142218"She is female" She answers
>>142219Silver has a blank expression on his face for a second.
"Well...yes. Is that all, or are there other reasons?"
Still best pony>>142220"I know Jubilosa better" she answers
>>142221He goes back to the bar
>>142222Confirmed!Amber is pretty satisfied at how she's doing her job. The restaurant is about half full so far.
>>142222Agreed."Alright then. What if you got to know me better?"
Alright, I have to sleep
>>142223Oh, it's only just beginning, little pony
>>142224"Perhaps." She says, with a weak smile
>>142225He smiles back.
"What would you like to know?"
>>142226Khoi moves her forelegs in front of her as she lies on her belly on the bed. She makes a smile with lips pulled back.
"I'm okay for now."
>>142227Silver looks a little saddened by this answer.
"Alright..."
>>142228>>142227Wait, I think I read the last question wrong. Scratch the answer in
>>142227"Uh... I don't know where to start... you say you had a wife?"
>>142229Silver nods.
"Storm Warning. She and I were together for 18 or so years, and had three foals together."
>>142231He nods again, though her statement seems to bring out a pang of sadness from the stallion.
"She is in better place."
>>142233She blinks, and uses her legs to press herself up, so that she is sitting up.
>>142225Amber thinks she's ready, at any rate.
>>142234"She was murdered many years ago. Time has dulled pain I felt from losing her, but I still feel guilt and sadness when I think of her, what I could have done to stop her death."
>>142235https://youtu.be/hmqyfQv3EXc?t=63Five ponies wait at the front
>>142236Her smile fades away into a distinct frown
"What do you mean?" She says
>>142238"No." Answers one of the ponies. It looks like a pair of two and a trio of three mares
>>142237"Storm, myself, and our foals went out for picnic of sorts, and as I left to gather firewood so we could cook some food, bandits accosted her and our foals. When I ran back at sounds of fighting, she was holding bandits back so foals could escape, and saw one of bandits run her through...
"Ah, forgive me. I do not mean to dampen mood."
>>142240Her long, leonine tail moves down.
"And you feel regret?"
>>142239She asks if any would like a table on the surprisingly comfortable patio or at the bar.
>>142242Totally comfortable on a rainy day in late January
[1d2 = 1] [1d2 = 2][1d2 = 2] [1d2 = 2] >>142242Neither section is particularly interested in the bar. The pair of two, however, has some interest in the patio
>>142244The three can have one of De Sew's tables, the pair will be given one of Larkhaven's high tables in the patio.
>>142241He nods.
"Regret that I was not there to fight alongside her. Regret that last time I got to hold my wife in my hooves was as corpse. Regret at what her death did to our foals...
His facial features slowly drop more and more as he speaks as he slowly spirals down into the feelings of loss that exist still deep inside him.
>>142245It is so.
Another group comes in. A mare, a stallion, and five foals of varying ages, with two in adolescence.
>>142246Her magenta eyes grow in concern, as she slowly turns her head away. She doesn't say anything at the moment
>>142247He suddenly snaps himself out of it, realizing the company he's currently keeping. His ears fold as he looks concerned at Khoi.
"I am deeply sorry, it is not something I wish to put upon you and sour mood...perhaps we should move onto other question."
>>142247Amber is slightly taken aback.
"Woah, are they all your foals?" she asks in an easygoing tone.
>>142248"I hope that is not me..." Khoi says, almost absent mindedly
>>142249"That little earth pony is our colt's friend" the mare answers.
"But our oldest isn't here."
The small herd makes its way inside, spreading out to take up much of the area of the front entrance, with foals moving around
"Uh-um, maybe we can get some more chairs for the combination booth-tables…" She's confident De Sew of anypony can manage these if they can actually be seated.
>>142250Silver quickly shakes his head at that statement.
"You are not like her. I do not mean that in necessarily good or bad way, just that your upbringing and hers were so radically different, I highly doubt what happened to her would ever happen to you."
>>142251As best as I can tell, every table and booth-combo in De Sew's section is taken at the moment. At least one of the older sets of customers can be expected to leave soon, but they are still taken
>>142252"No. That isn't what I mean. I mean...."
She doesn't seem actually eager to explain herself
>>142253While curious, he simply nods at Khoi.
"You do not have to explain if you do not want to."
>>142253Hmm, well hopefully Cream Pop is up the task
as long as he doesn't face Boe Jiden with the last of his booths. Might be a tight squeeze but you could get a couple of chairs at the end of the table.
>>142254"I don't want to have regret" She says simply, and sharply
>>142255And where will the extra chairs come from?
>>142256"Ah. I can understand feeling."
>>142257She now wraps her long tail around her body.
"I'm... sorry for your loss" she says
>>142258He smiles weakly at her.
"It is okay. It may still hurt sometimes, but I feel I have gotten past it, to be able to live my own life beyond that pain."
>>142256One of the restaurant's high tables will have to donate its chairs.
>>142260There are two remaining unused high tables in Larkhaven's section. Of course they are high, and thus of questionable match to the booths
[1d2 = 1]>>142259She looks back up at Silver, still frowning. Her tail moves.
>>142261"I am more than my regret. While it is certainly not fun to have, I do not let it consume me. Having others near helps."
His smiles returns to full strength, beaming from his face towards the nearby kirin.
>>142260>>142261This is acceptable to the family
>>142262"So... what do you do now? You said you were something like the Youxia?"
>>142263"It is effectively like that, though I have not always done things as honorably. You could say I am mercenary, or soldier-of-fortune. I would like to reinvent myself as adventurer someday, like in stories my father used to tell me, once I have my hooves completely under me and have enough Bits that even dry spell of work will not be end of me."
>>142264Not entirely sure why canibalizing part of Lark Haven's section to produce overflow in Corn Pop's section was better than combining two tables in Mustard Trim's almost entirely empty section, but okay[1d4 = 4]>>142265"What do you need more bits for?" She asks innocently
>>142264>>142266A group of ponies past the age of 50 approaches. All female. There are about 6 of them.
>>142268"Yes." An elderly pony answers
[1d2 = 2] >>142266"It is always good to have stash in case of emergencies. There are also things I would want to spend them on as well, such as remodelling bathrooms in house to be more comfortable."
>>142270"What is wrong with the bathrooms?" She asked
>>142271"They are alright, but compared to rest of house they feel...underwhelming. I am used to living well with bare essentials, do not get me wrong, but living in house like this, after long day of adventure, bathroom should feel like place of tranquility."
>>142273Melon Mangrove has one free table at the moment... not enough to combine into two
>>142276One of the mares scrunches
"It's cold and wet."
>>142277"We don't have any more space inside," Amber says flatly. Inwardly, she thinks,
I could swear Melon had three tables left… >>142278Each party that is seated requires
two tables to be combined, given the small size of the tables. Thus two parties take up four tables
Roll diplomacy.
Also,
[1d20 = 15] >>142280>>142278"Well... alright." The mare says
"But only because I've been craving goulash."
Okay, I have to sleep now
>>142283"Yes, I know. We all know." The mare says as she is seated
>>142275"I suppose such material thoughs are not considered virtuous in Ngua Nam?"
>>142285"Well, to be concerned with material possessions isn't really virtuous, no. But what I meant more is that this place is already better than what most freeholders can afford. Better than many merchants, even."
>>142286"Ohhhh. Yes, that is definitely case. It is much nicer than anywhere else I have lived, certainly."
>>142288"So this is not normal for Equestrians?" She asks, although her tone suggests it is more of a confirmation to herself than a serious question.
>>142289Regardless, he shakes his head.
"Those in upper-middle class would find this typical, perhaps save for all of stuffed animals about. It is not nearly as nice or large as mansions upper class lives in, and it is nicer than typical houses or apartments lower class lives in."
>>142291He nods, then looks around the room.
"Would you like more furnishings for your room? Or some things with which to decorate it?"
>>142293He chuckles.
"Well, I suppose that would be up to you. It is your room, after all."
>>142294"I've never had my own room before..." She says
I would like to thank everyone here for being so welcoming. You have all been very kind.
I do not believe I ever will play again so I think it's best to just ignore the existence of my character, if that isn't in effect already.
The little that I played was mostly entertaining.
The reasons: I got other stuff taking up time and this is too much of time commitment. Also, this isn't the type of dnd game that I'm really looking for. I want a more classical adventure with a clear end in sight. If anyone starts a one-shot or something here I might join for that.
GM, have you ever thought of making a one-shot game?
>>142309>Mostly As in 90% entertaining. I like it, alright.
>>142309Alright, nice to hear from you and I wish you the best!
>>142311Thanks. I thought it would be good to inform you, guys.
>>142312What more do you want? I wrote my reasons.
Like, no offence taken or anything, but what are do you mean?I can elaborate but I don't know what you're asking. >>142306The unicorn smiles at the kirin.
"Well, now you do for as long as you want it. However you wish to decorate, I can try to help as best I can."
>>142315Well, I would define it as that there is a party and they set out to complete a goal and when that is done the adventure is over. I would like to emphasize the goal part as the most important part but having a party is something I like too.
>>142316Well, I've had multiple ideas for more clearly goal driven adventures in more exotic environments. Hopefully one of them can come into being some time
>>142317Yeah. If you make something like that, I'll probably join. Of course,
this, again depends on the time investment but still that sounds attractive. Not that this wasn't fun. This just sounds more fun to me.
I wonder when our next session will be.
>>142314>>142333She looks around
"I don't know... or how long I will be staying here." She answers
>>142307One of De Sew's tables (actually a combo-booth) leaves
>>142345"You could still bring whatever you get with you if you ever decide to move."
>>142346"I guess that's true." She says. "But I don't have anything now, nor the money to buy it."
>>142347He smiles.
"I can help you with that problem."
>>142348Sitting up, and with her forelegs down and hind legs aside, she looks over to Silver.
"You've helped enough already."
>>142349He maintains his smile.
"Does not mean I can not help more."
>>142350"How... how so?" She asks
>>142351"I do not mind giving help to nice people. Doubly so for as nice as you are, Khoi."
>>142352She pulls her lips back in a smile, tilts her head down, and pulls it back.
"I don't know if I need
help."
>>142353He tilts his head in response.
"What would you need, then?"
>>142354"Well... the ability to make it on my own."
>>142355He nods.
"That is why you sought job with Black Cauldron, yes?"
>>142357"It is hard to make it on one's own, but it is honorable aim. You know, you do not have to do so completely alone. These things are far easier when you have friends."
>>142358This causes a much wider and bigger smile with a full set of teeth.
"Really? Like they say about Equestrians?"
>>142359Although he doesn't show his teeth, he does smile at her contageous display of joy.
"Like they say about Equestrians."
>>142360"So.... how do I make friends here? In foreign land."
>>142361"Oh, there are few ways. Simplest is just talking to others, it is first step to making friends. You can also look for those with similar interest. You can find friends at work, or you can find club for hobby or skill you are good at or love to do. I *do* know there are some people nearby who would make for good friendship candidates."
>>142362"Friendship candidates?" She asks, tilting her head to the side
>>142363He smiles a bit wider, and nods.
"Jubilosa, Mala...even me, if you would be willing to give me chance as your friend."
>>142365Silver looks like he'd do a little dance if he wasn't laying down.
"Great! Oh, on same topic: any more questions for me?"
>>142366"Uh... I don't know... I haven't lived in a foreign land before."
>>142367"Oh, I was more asking if you had any more questions
about me, but I could also help introduce you to ponies, if you want help making friends."
>>142368"I don't... I don't know. I suppose I would ask about your family... I mean, if that is appropriate. Or what you've seen as a wondering fighter. Or why it is Equestrians think... certain things... are breakfast topics."
>>142369"My family...well, I suppose I should start with my parents. My father, Molotok Mechov, was quartermaster in Royal Guard before I was born. He was biggest, strongest Earth Pony you have ever seen. After he met my mother, he retired from Guard work and became blacksmith, and he is pony who trained me in ways of warrior. My mother was unicorn noble from Trottingham, she was rather frail and kept out of sight by her affluent family. She ran away with my father after he had saved her from fire in her family's manor house. I never knew her, she passed away giving birth to me.
"I had three foals with Storm. My eldest son, Silver Rain, moved out to Las Pegasus as soon as he was able. He was hit hardest by Storm's death, as he was only one of my foals to actually see her die. Last I heard he was kind of businesspony before War. My youngest son is Spectral Streak, though he is also called Spec. He joined Equestrian Army after moving out and established himself as expert markspony during Stalliongrader Civil War. He was member of Equestrian Recon during Great War. My daughter is White Light. She was smart, so very smart despite intelligence of her parents. She also developed very close relationship with Spec when they were teenagers, and they remained closely in touch since. She graduated from Canterlot University with degrees in Magic Theory and Practical Application of Magic, and was working for Royal Canterlot Research Institute before and during War."
>>142370She looks over at Silver with wide eyes
"So you are of noble blood?" She asks
>>142371"Technically, yes, though no doubt my mother, Pleasant Meadow, was quietly disowned by her family after running away to be with peasant stallion. I have never known benefits of nobility, myself."
>>142372She tilts her head again, to the other side.
"You just got this house, right? Where did you live before?" She asks
>>142373"When I was colt, I lived with my father in his Blacksmith's Shop. Then after I met Storm, we built cabin outside of Manehattan. Nothing fancy, but it did well for my family for some years, and myself for many years after."
>>142374She nods
"How did you have a family, while living a life as a travelling fighter?"
>>142375"We made decision to settle after Storm became pregnant, and built our cabin. We still had some adventures and travelling after having our foals, but they were usually much shorter and less deadly."
>>142376"Did you..... abandon fighting?"
>>142377He shakes his head.
"We still fought, but we were less inclined towards recklessly trotting into middle of enemy camps and fighting large number of enemies head on. We had foals to think of, we could not leave them parentless."
>>142378"Still that's... it must have been hard. To both fight and have family."
>>142379He nods.
"It is hard. To have these connections is to have great weakness enemies can exploit...but it is these connections that make life worth living. And it is because of that I have no regrets about having my family."
>>142380She nods
"And you will continue as a fighter?" She asks
>>142381He nods again.
"It is what I know, and what my special talent is. I am also fair Weaponsmith, but I would need tools and place to set up shop if I wanted to settle down and stop fighting."
>>142382"But.... Equestria is a land of peace. Who do you even fight?"
>>142383"There are some who do not abide by that idea. Those like griffons at 33 Hoebuck. There is saying, among warriors like me: if you want peace, prepare for war."
>>142384She nods, and for the moment, is out of questions.
>>142385"You asked about my openness to talk about sex at breakfast table?"
>>142386She blinks, with something of a stunned expression
"Yes..."
>>142387"Well, personally, I did not think we were in
too public place, and I knew you had been curious about subject. I also thought we were familiar enough with each other to discuss it. I do apologise if it offended you at all that I was so open.
>>142388She wraps her tail around herself, and folds both ears back while presenting that toothy smile.
>>142390"Oh, just..." She does not finish her sentence
>>142391He turns his head slightly, pointing an ear towards the kirin.
"What is it? I am curious, now. If I upset you, I would like to know."
>>142392She doesn't say anything, but maintains that awkward grin
>>142393The unicorn has a troubled look on his face, not matching her awkward grin with a smile.
"Khoi?"
>>142395"It is big part of friendship to be open and honest with friends. I would like if you told me what is bothering you. If something is making you uncomfortable, we will set it aside."
>>142396"Well, it's... not breakfast conversation in Ngua Nam." She sats
>>142397He bows his head to her.
"I am sorry. Does that mean you still do not want to talk about it, yet?"
>>142398"I will discuss it with my husband." She answers
>>142399"Hmm...alright. What would you think of me as your husband? How would I size up?"
>>142400She blinks
Only slowly, does she start to blush (or seems to. Kirin are rather fluffy on the parts not covered in scales)
>>142401He rearranges himself to move his legs out from under him, so he can stretch out a little. It's nothing inappropriate, but it also lets him showcase his strong, nimble body to her.
"So? I am big, strong, healthy, I can financially support myself and others, I have prior experience being husband and father, and I would like to think I am fairly nice pony."
>>142403"Thought has crossed my mind ever since you told me what you want is to find mate. You are quite intelligent, kind, honest, and pretty, and to see someone as nice as you find good mate would be wonderful."
>>142404She blushes, and holds up her right foreleg across her face
"You are... charming." She lowers her foreleg
"But what about Jubilosa?"
>>142405He smiles at the comment, and holds his chin up by a hoof.
"I already asked her, actually, what she would think of you and I. What she wants is companionship, and I am more than happy to provide that. But she also wants to experience life before settling down with someone. She swore she does not mind, so long as I do not leave her behind. I suppose I would have to ask
you what you thought."
I have to sleep now, unfortunately
>>142407"But... you two..." She does not complete the sentence
>>142414"Yes. You know what you said about sex, what you have learned from your homeland? While it is one valid philosophy behind sex, there are others which are similarly just as valid. Some like you view sex as simply way to have foals, or for one partner to release their carnal desires. Others view sex as something special and intimate between two ponies who love each other, and way to explore and deepen bond between them. And still others view sex as way to build camaraderie and creater stronger bonds, even between friends. All three of these views are valid, and it is to each individual to determine for themselves which is best.
"As for Jubilosa and I, we are both consenting adults who like sex. Unless one of us were to say something, it is not wrong for us to enjoy in each other's company."
>>142415Her lips return to their forward position
"It is not a toy, and there is only one truth. Union is sacred, and never to be trivialized."
>>142416"If it was one, universal truth, then why would it be in dispute all across world?"
>>142417Almost forcefully,
"Because Spirit is not always in control. Often, matter is, and the passions with it."
>>142418Silver holds his forehooves up, as if to try to keep things from getting too heated.
"Okay, okay. You know, passion is not so bad as you think. Of course you are using it as aspect of sex, but passion extends far beyond just that."
>>142420"I am aware." She says. "And it can be bad in other areas as well."
>>142421"Does that mean we should give it up entirely?"
