https://marecon.live/The spiritual successor to the previous /mlp/ con, Marecon is an online convention occurring primarily in 2 cytube channels, and the general on /mlp/. A number of anons from in and around /mlp/ will be streaming a number of online panels, and the schedule seems to be still in development as last minute panels are still being organized. There is talk of a watch party for the 4cccl, which is silly IMO because shitposting in chat is where its at.
Anyway, Opening Ceremonies start in about 5 hours.
>>381884YAY. Looking forward to it
(hope I am awake when it start - turned my sleep cycle to some wrong timezone). >>381885AI kun who did the aryannes in the welcome thread is going to be doing a panel where he explains his process to train the AI to produce quality sloppa of your favorite ponies. Yes, AI is not art bla bla bla, if you had any idea how many times I've gotten scammed, cheated, or otherwise not gotten what was promised/paid for, you would be less sympathetic to the artists as well.
In any case, I will take notes and may provide a breakdown if I grasp it sufficiently
And since I've 'come this far' in the rant, here's the thing about artists vs. AI.
>Doesn't require any skill
Horseshit it doesn't. These lads spend weeks/months wading through nightmare-fueled fever dreams of eldritch abominations, to eventually know how to tell the AI to make a pony. The little I have seen is not for human consumption.
>Cheapens/steals from existing artists
Nothing new under the sun - Ecclesiastes
>doesn't respect the artists
This one is the worst. I have incredible appreciation and respect for the pony artists who are still in the game; I have a number of favorites, and have grown in my understanding of "the rules" with regard to Content, OCs, and intellectual property. But, the artists I would pay good money to produce art for me tend to not take commissions (ostensibly they're curiously well-financed pony enthusiasts), and the ones that I'm left with do not conduct good business. So lets give AI a crack at it, is where my head is at.
>>381888>Horseshit it doesn't.Well, sure but it still doesn't require the same amount of time that just drawing does, otherwise you might as well draw. It still easier.
However, that doesn't mean it won't be used. AI is here, whether we like it or not. So why not use it if it benefits you. Is my take on the matter.
>>381889Well, my thoughts are that I am ass at art, and I don't have the motivation to rectify that. Therefore, any attempts I might make to try and conceptualize/develop my OCs is limited to my ability to describe the product with recolored example images to an artist, and THEIR ability to comprehend what I'm looking for; trust me, the latter is the problem, I'm very specific and detailed about what I'm after.
If I can train an AI to produce suitable images, I can take THOSE to the actual artists and STILL pay them for a quality work, but without the hassle of paying for a half dozen images I dont even want to look at
Opening ceremonies are LIV, have been going for a bit (sorry)
