A proper attempt would have aimed for a more neutral position that is the median of his movements so he will align and get hit, even if it wasn't the greatest result where he is looking at you for the forehead shot.

I do hope that the bodycams are released and can back up what that guy said about the shooter. It would mean that there might be a level of corruption going on because there is no way that they didn't take that seriously and at least look if there is a person on the roof if they didn't want to stop Trump's speech. There is a possibility that he is lying to get attention while no one can disprove what he is saying in the chaos right now, but it does seem to line up with what happened.

So what happens now?

Obviously Trump wins the election barring obvious rigging or the Dems swapping Biden for someone who can finish a sentence. But will this attempt affect Trump's politics at all?

I doubt much will change. Maybe some Holocaust comparisons to his assassination attempt while he doubles funding to Israel. Also, it is a coin toss if the economy even gets fixed because the whole thing is getting ready for another depression, and it might be rigged to go up in flames if Trump gets in. Still, I don't see any positive to having a democrat in office other than they might slightly reduce the next funding boost to Israel because they need to save a little face with their Muslim voting base.

The major upside to Trump is that things will be funny again and not just depressing as Biden will definitely not show his face for the rest of his administration if he can help it.
