Stop Killing Games initiative
The main point of the initiative is for the gamedevs to prepare some kind of plan for when they sunset their games once they choose to stop supporting them. With ever more push for "its a service not a product" or "you have to have 24/7 internet connection to our servers to play solo mode" angle from all the big and small developers over the years has clearly made gaming worse.
As a attempt to remedy, for the past 10 month, there has been a petition set up on EU website (as there isn't really good alternative in USA or other countries) to set up a new law to get the gamedev to prepare at least some kind of bare bones plan for when they sunset their games (just like we got refunds on Steam once Australia sued them for it, or Apple stop cucking people with their terrible cable power chargers format and just use usb-c).
Here are some examples of multiplayer games in the past that are still playable on fan servers: Ultima Online (1997), Star Wars Galaxies (2003), City of Heroes (2004), Team Fortress 2 (2007) and all kind of different versions of World of Warcraft servers.
Mods/Admins, to tell me if the above thread is ok to post, or if it needs to be moved to /mlpol/ or other board.

[Embed]>>191297Wholeheartedly agree with this. The amount of games that require an active internet access for offline play is fucking retarded. Fuck your alwaysonline bullshit.
Too little, too late. This will only force studios to put a little bit of text on the bottom of their box or webpage explaining that the buyer is purchasing a license to use the software up to and possibly beyond that date. The issue has gotten to congress because of developers' dishonesty, so they'll simply be forced to be more honest. You'll still have Ubishit games and such that stop working entirely after 3 years, but now you'll be forced to agree to that shut-down date when making your purchase.
So we’re no longer buying games, we’re leasing them.
Hooray for the recurring monthly revenue business model.
>>191300>>191299Keeping a game in "playable state" is going to require bit more work than just slapping a deadline sticker on the box. I would imagine once the initiative passes the one million signatures the AAA companies will be asking their lawyers to show up in front of EU and explain why they are legally allowed to steal money from gamers pockets. Sadly this will not restore older games, so rip to all the Nintendo rom that they keep nuking from fan servers, but at least I can hope the future devs will be little money grabbing (or at the very least not getting in a way of the fans trying to enjoy vidya).
>/v/ threads are spammed to hell with loli/fag/furry porn
Fuck shills, fuck corpo scum and fuck anybody who wish to mess with my vidya.
On the other news, the initiative got so much push that counting website started to lag behind from all the new registered people.
>>191320WAIT WTF?!
they are spamming CP in those threads to associate SKG to the Pedos?!?!
that is sooooooooooo fucking low
even more low than what pirate software did
>>191299i cannot believe ubisoft once made my childhood with games such as rayman , prince of persia , assassin's creed and splinter cell and now this is what they become and this is how they will be remembered for... they used to be chads now they are just as jew as EA
>>191321god not another ad
>>191302Not every game has to have online features, or even need internet access to even work. I remember a time when the internet wasn't as stable as it is now, and I could still play games. Albeit those games were designed by some rather clever, and determined people, rather than the DEI mess shat out every yeah by BigGamer. Mass Effect and Halo didn't need an internet connection, but now you have to log into a service account in order to play.
Homeworld Remastered is like that now. For absolutely no reason an update was applied that demanded that you agree to a new EULA (

>>191320>Spamming CSAMWell they can't really inject flatearthers into a gamer movement.
https://stopkillinggamestracker.pages.devhttps://stop-killing-games.keep-track.xyz>Total Progress>Total Count: 750,260>Signatures today: +64,993>Percentage to Goal: 75.03%Well, despite the all the shitshow, the initiative is on a really good road to get one million registrations completed in a week or two.
>>191325As of now, UK petition has passed the 100k required signatures, so hopefully the UK gov janny response we got from few months ago can go and screw itself and in few weeks after 14th of July the parliament will have to discus the state of vidya ownership.

[Embed]So the EU initiative collected 1.4 million votes at this moment. Ross put out a new video, were some "anonymous" source tried to (((shut it down))) with some made up bullshit.
As the quote goes "It's AFRAID!".
