>what is the best FiM story you read?>what type/genre of story are you most fond of/most likely to read?>do you /write/? if not, what keeps you from it?I meant to start a few different short stories I've been procrastinating on yesterday, but accomplished nothing instead.
The bulk of the usual faggots are over here right now:
https://nhnb.org/fim/res/19687.html>>6824That's not very insular, gatekeeping circle-jerk of you, Anon
Might as well shill my stuff here.
This is the thing I'm currently working on:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/565134/a-pocketful-of-sandIt's also a thread on this board, I usually post updates here before posting a final edit to FimFiction:
>>>/mlpol/374307 →I should have the next update finished in the next couple of days.
This is probably the best thing I've written to date:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/544043/night-of-the-autumn-moonThis is a satire of Past Sins that I wrote a couple of years ago, I thought it was funny but it didn't get a ton of views:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/530869/how-i-spent-my-summer-vacation-on-the-moonThis is an Anonfilly story I wrote ages ago that people seemed to like:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/525935/just-mommyThis is a Scootaloo story adapted from an old scootabuse green:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/528203/the-jumpThis one is stupid as fuck but is also kind of funny:
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/564900/the-smiling-weasel-gubernatorialThis is my ponepaste if anyone wants to trawl through the assorted garbage in here (some of these are decent and may eventually get FimFiction adaptations):
https://ponepaste.org/user.php?user=glimglam12Also, I occasionally do autistic read-and-react style reviews of fimfiction stories, currently working my way through Project Horizons:
>>>/mlpol/373098 →>>6824I've always found that thread to be kind of a snooty circlejerk
though that may just be because I've tried to get them to preread my work and they never do. Basically what
>>6827 said. That they chose NHNB over this place for reviving their thread seems to reinforce this view.
>>6787>Questions for anons>what is the best FiM story you read?None, they are all terrible. Though in all seriousness I did enjoy reading Exchange by getmeouttahere and The Best Night Ever by Capn_Chryssalid. The Haunting by Admiral Biscuit was also not bad. I also haven't read a ton of fanfictions, so I'm sure there's good stuff out there.
>what type/genre of story are you most fond of/most likely to read?In general I like reading mysteries/detective stories and shitposty/comedy type stuff. I can also enjoy grimdark/sadbox stuff if it's well written and doesn't take itself too seriously.
>do you /write/? if not, what keeps you from it?Yes, see my previous post.
>>6829Man, I had so much fun reading your teardown of Fallout: Equestria back in the day. Didja happen to give Renewal a go in the time since?
>>6839No, unfortunately I haven't gotten to it yet. This is the one, right?
https://www.fimfiction.net/story/440269/fallout-equestria-renewalIt looks interesting, I will try to give it a look at some point.
>>6845Quite right. Despite being the latest incarnation of "F:E but good", this one seems to have actually put its money where its mouth is and completely reworked the setting from the ground up. And there's a sequel on the way!
>>6829Hey Glim, nice to see you around. It's been a bit.
>This is a satire of Past Sins that I wrote a couple of years ago, I thought it was funny but it didn't get a ton of viewsI still think "Past Sense" would've been a better title.
>>6834We chose NHNB because poner was a barren wasteland when we moved.
>>6775I don't usually write, it takes a lot of time and I don't feel like I'm very good at it. Plus every time I write, it seems to devolve into some sort of trauma-related story.
I wrote this thing once and a few anons liked it so I might as well share it here
https://ponepaste.org/10688Maybe I'll write something later. I really want to improve but honestly I just feel like I'm never good enough of an author or that my ideas are just kind of weird, for example, the way that thing is written.
>>6775>Been reading Fimfics nearly every single day since I was in 8th grade circa 2014>Site goes down for ONE fucking hour>Immediately panicsGuys, I think I have a problem
>>7016Be the change you want to see, post nice shit on /mlpol/ instead of running away to moderation central
Im also a barbie hater and an anti porn faggot, but /mlpol/ should be able to stand on its own rather than relying on nhnb as its sfw crutch
>>7190Yeah, but at the time /fimfic/ was made there the general refugee thread there had more activity than the entirety of this board. It felt like the safest way to capture the most eyes because more people seemed to know about that place than this one.
>>7215For what it's worth, I suggested moving here. People seem to not want to. I'm hanging out in both places. We'll all end up going back to 4chan soon anyway. Also, yes, there were at least 6 different thread anons on Fimfiction commenting on the death of 4chan when a NHNB bunker was floated as an idea.
Is this a fimfic thread or the greentext thread? I'm getting mixed messages here
>>7385both ig, just post green
there isn't enough movement to justify two threads, this entire place do be hella empty frfr ong
>>6851>I still think "Past Sense" would've been a better title. You might honestly have been right, the title probably doesn't provide enough of a connection to the source material. On the other hand, I still really like this cover art.
>>6829>This is probably the best thing I've written to date:>https://www.fimfiction.net/story/544043/night-of-the-autumn-moonFuckkk, stellar. That is some impeccably delightful writing
Long time since I last felt that satisfied with a barely 40 minutes read sit through. Never read Fitzgerald, not even Gatsby, but the overall aesthetic of it really took me back to first reading Lovecraft back in freshman year, will def check your suggestions later on
>after 10+ years of feeling like I outgrew ponies I end up coming back to it, indulging in it by way of genning some AI horse using bingbot
>now my writefag brain is thinking up story shit for said cartoon horse OC I ended up genning
>not much to actually DO on that front though cause writing a fic by myself is very boring compared to RPing cause the latter is simply more fun and interesting by virtue of involving a second person and letting them interact with what you come up with rather than talking to yourself for several hours
>none of my current writing friends are ponyfags in the slightest
Ugh...
>>7680There is a years-long RP thread in mlpol, it should be up there somewhere if you search for it
>>7719>years longSo it's basically dead and completely unpopulated.
>>7680>writefag>doesn't like writingI want to put a sarcastic, cutting remark here, but I don't think I have to.
>>7746I don't like writing by myself. Cause it's basically just talking to myself. I CAN do it but I'd get bored.
>>7574Thank you, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
>>7740You shut your whore mouth, anons have very busy lives and unironically important jobs
>>7719Yeah but so dead it lasts YEARS? Does it even still exist at this point?
>>6775>>6777Dropping the old /green/ threads here for posterity. Gone too soon.

RP thread:
https://mlpol.net/vx/189000OOC thread:
https://mlpol.net/vx/188149I don't really know the history nor what is going on at the moment but I have a vague feeling it's related to some rp that randomly started due to a tarot thread.
>>8123Correction, I think this is where it started:
https://mlpol.net/vx/20Eventually leading to
https://mlpol.net/vx/1799https://mlpol.net/vx/4199https://mlpol.net/vx/67940However, I am not sure, I have not been keeping-up with the RP threads, I could be totally wrong, or not, maybe an anon that has been posting in 'em since 2017 can answer this.
>>8127Oh dear. No, the ttrpg thread that trended into Mixed Nuts is very separate and distinguishable from the OE threads. Completely different OPs (I am OP of the long-defunct MN threads), and not affiliated
Nononononono,... the progression went from TTRPG thread to Mixed Nuts. Oh for fucks sake, pretend to read.
The ttrpg thread started from a conceptualized campaign I had based around meming real-world politics and classic shitposting into a DnD game.
Operators in Equestria is entirely different, being a RP based around Equestria at War for Hearts of Iron 4. They are incomparable
>>8128>>8129hahah, well sorry guys, I just saw them pop-up from time to time but never bothered to read them, thanks for the clarification.
>>8131No fault to you, it's an easy comparison to draw.
Mixed Nuts ended years ago, while OE is ongoing
avoiding any quips about GM and player availability and focus and has a dedicated and active player base
