Thanksgiving in the US. Theme of the week!

There's A vTuber who uploaded a Thanksgiving video of herself reacting to a Thanksgiving video she made of MLP figures, so I figure we'll get a snapshot of that little saga.

Our MLP Feature in the prestream wilh be a video essay from a month ago about looking at how deadly the M6 are.

The Farscape episode of the week, The Ugly Truth, involves multiple people each telling their own not-entirely-accurate account of a situation. This is Farscape doing this, so I'm looking forward to it. They always do things well.

Friends, Friday the Fifth is upon us once again! We will feast on files including music from earlier today all the way to six years ago, watch an early access release trailer for a PC remake of Timesplitters 2 (TimeSplitters Rewind) to check that out, and finish off with one of StormXF3's newest MLP In Real Life animation. It's from one month ago, while the Timesplitters Rewind Release Trailer for the Early Access is from twelve days ago.

Tonight's Farscape episode is going to be a mindscrew. I look forward to what they come up with with.

Someone in the thread suggested Arakawa Under the Bridge, but I haven't finished legally purchasing it yet, so we will start it next week. In the meantime, I have a short two-episode OVA we can watch tonight. You will have to tune in to find out what it is.

While I have everyone's attention, I'd actually like to get some input on the anime segment. Are we enjoying it so far? Do people like my selections, or would it be better if I took suggestions from the room? Any preferences about subbed vs. dubbed? Or should we just jettison the weeb stuff entirely and go back to all-ponies, or show western cartoons instead? If anyone has any opinions, feel free to weigh in.

I like the anime segment. I like dubs because I can step away if I need to and still know what's going on. Maybe switching between western cartoons and anime could keep things fresh, but I'm also fine with keeping it all anime.

The anime portion can be comfy and lulzy. Ghost Stories, Boku No Pico, and the Azumanga dub were all fun to watch together. Problems come up when a long, story-based animu are shown. If someone doesn't like it at first they won't stick around for the rest of its showing, or someone who likes it might be sent to the wageslave dungeon or be summoned by Luna early and end up behind in the story. I was issued an I.Q score that was above my national and racial average so I am very likely to be correct on this matter.

This is basically my feeling as well, I just wanted to check in and see if people are happy with the stream, and if I'm picking shows that we're all enjoying. As far as the language choice goes I personally prefer to watch dubbed anime when possible, but if others feel strongly about it I don't mind switching it up. It sounds like you enjoy the dubs and no one else has sounded off on it, so I guess until I hear otherwise I will keep showing anime in English for now.

That said, the next anime will be Arakawa Under the Bridge, which was requested by Canada flag, and the subbed Jap version is all I was able to find. So, for the next six weeks we will all need to put on our weeb hats and learn to read subtitles.

I can understand the frustration here. The problem is that the vast majority of anime shows are long stories, so we would have limited options as to what could be shown if we did it this way. Just out of curiosity, would it help with this problem if I were to shuffle some of the time slots around? Where I live the stream generally wraps up between 10 or 11 pm, which is perfect for an evening movie stream, but I understand that for people on the other side of the continent that's like 1-2 am I'm not sure how many Eurofags we have watching this stream, but I'm assuming that on a board with majority American flags these anons are probably used to dealing with US time zones.

One of the ideas I've been toying with is swapping the positions of the anime and pony segments, running anime first and then the MLP episodes. I'm assuming most people on this board have seen every G4 episode multiple times and aren't concerned about missing anything, and G5 is the kind of story you can dip in and out of without really missing that much. Maybe it would make more sense to show the story-focused thing an hour earlier, when everyone is still awake and paying attention, and then run the pony episodes when everyone is starting to nod off? Some other options would be to do pony-anime-anime-pony, or maybe pony-anime-pony-anime, or anime-pony-anime-pony, or any other possible combination.

If anyone has any thoughts on this please feel free to weigh in. I'm just brainstorming here.

Hello and welcome again, frens! Tonight, we are one more week into December, and one week closer to Christmas / Hearth's Warming. I hope you've had time to adjust to however cold it gets in your area, or that the weather for any southern hemisphere frens is very comfortable. For those in a cold area: Remember your base layer, and then cover yourself from the air and wind. Prioritize your core and your legs.

For those who get to mess around with the snow, have you spent some time with good snowball-quality snow yet? Go ahead to a park or field in boots (insulated rubber boots. Multiple layers of socks and a toe warmer if not), and toss a few snowballs at a tree if you can.

A three-parter adventure begins for us this week in Farscape. It is extremely important to the plot, and is incredibly cool. “The odds are against them” seems very inadequate to describe what they're starting with, and what they're trying to do. They have really terrible luck in a lot of ways.

The crew swiftly moves to save him, and reassures D'Argo he has a plan to save Jothee.

To be perfectly honest I'm finding it pretty mid so far, it's not as terrible as /mlp/ made me expect, but it's not really grabbing me either. I feel like we ought to at least finish it just so we can all say we've seen it, but once that's over and done with I'm okay with putting it back into cold storage and never speaking of it again. G3 will probably be next since I think that's the only MLP gen we haven't watched. In any case, I think having the G5 episode as the last thing makes the most sense, that way people can duck out early if they want, or nod off in bed to something that doesn't require a yuge amount of brainpower.

With the exception of Arakawa, which we just started, I think all of the anime series we've watched so far were ripped directly from DVDs I own. Most of them are shows I bought eons ago, where the dubs would predate the existence of Crunchyroll. They were all done by ADV films and Geneon and whoever, and I don't think there was any serious monkeying with the scripts that I'm aware of, apart from the usual localizing dialects and slang and whatnot.

The Farscape episode tonight continues our three parter series where our luckless yet daring heroes / escaped prisoners are robbing a bank to try to find D'Argo's son. They robbed the bank after a difficult adventure, but it turns out the stuff they robbed is actually a bunch of space beetles that have woken up and are causing problems. That could probably have gone better.

A new scary blue bug alien chick is front and center in this storyline. She's in charge of the criminal super-bank, and is on screen torturing people. Scorpius, however, is here in the flesh, and he's scarier than the blue bug alien chick.

With Christmas season upon us in earnest, another Watch Party comes by.

The Pony Pre-Stream section will be slightly truncated, followed by the usual episode of Farscape, then the movie night will play out as normal.

Pony features of the week include over half a dozen songs, most of which are from within the last three weeks. Several of the songs feature Koa as an artist, so I expect lyrics. One of the songs is an animation, from 8 hours earlier today by both MelodyBrony and 4EverFreeBrony. There's a 3D animation by Ainer of Twilight Touching grass to round out the Pony offerings.

Non-pony content consists of Avocado Animations' Christmas themed animation of one and a half minute long titled “Rudolph Gets Jumped”. We'll see how they play that concept out. That's from yesterday.

Following this, we have Part Three of our big heist story, entitled: Plan B. The crew's situation keeps getting worse, and every time things do get better, it feels like one step forwards and two steps back. It'll be fun to see how bad things get for the crew.

I agree, but Brigitte Bardot wasn't in that, she wasn't even born when it was made. You're probably thinking of Brigitte Helm. I've been wanting to show Metropolis for awhile now, though, so we can do that soon. I actually have two versions of it if anyone has a preference: there's a 2.5 hour long version that is supposed to be the most complete and the closest to the original Fritz Lang cut from 1927, and a shorter version that was put out in 1984 by a guy named Giorgio Moroder. The Moroder version was actually the first version I ever saw, it used color tinting for effect and contemporary music for the soundtrack so basically it's the original Fritz Lang film with atmospheric tinting and 1980s synth-pop. It works better than it sounds like it would. I'm leaning more towards the "complete" version, but they're both worth watching. If anyone has any preferences let me know. The complete version is about 2.5 hours long, the 1980s one is 1.5 I believe.

In any case I think showing a Brigitte Bardot movie tonight would be a good idea, I'm going through the list of her movies now.

Today's Farscape episode involves looking in to getting Crichton something for that brain chip of his. The man is really not having a very fun time of it these days, and now he's going to some alien to cut into his brain to try to make it better? Yikes.

Welcome again, my friends!

This week brings with it some sad news. Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert and noted smart person conservative commentator has passed away from cancer. In the last handful of years he gained some notoriety for noticing that black people statistically behave differently than white people, and that there is one-way hostility between the groups. He encouraged white people to exercise their freedom of association and “get the hell away from them”. He also fell for the COVID jab narrative and got injected. This is very likely to be a cause of the cancer that ended him. He accepted Christ as his saviour before passing and wished us all well. May he rest in peace.

In recognition of that, I've placed the Dilbert animated show in the playlist for this week. Due to lack of finding suitable candidates, we have one mega-video with two seasons and extras. We'll watch an episode or two before the main playlist kicks in.

I believe that Elway is off this week as well. So we'll either look for a Dilbert movie to watch after this or we'll put something like There Will Be Brawl on for more internet miniseries content.

Tonight's Farscape episode is the second in this season so far. We've come a long way from our setup of a ship with a handful of escaped prisoners on board. New people have come in, and actor stuff is happening behind the scenes. The show and cohort of characters will evolve over time.

Tonight, another Watch Party!

Several things happened last week, from watching the two-parter Farscape episodes, some further stuff from YouTube, and a YouTube upload from Matt Mercer that had been edited just four days before that night. “Uploaded in the highest possible quality” because the existing ones from the original publishing were also around 480p at the time. He missed at least four videos, including two more Koopa News segments that describe what's happening in the wider environment, but we can talk about that some other time.

This week, another episode of Farscape comes up. This one is titled “Different Destinations”. The crew is freshly mourning last episode's death of Zotoh Zhaan Yes, I had to look up the official spelling. What I've read says that the actress loved the part, but became allergic to the makeup. So they visit a museum to look into a time rift to take their minds off of it and try to re-moralize themselves. It's Farscape, so something bad might happen. Or maybe they'll catch a break this time?

We'll follow up with a discussion video on this from Critical Drinker, and maybe someone else's video if I can find it. That's because this is a notably very good episode.

I suppose there's some coincidental symmetry of last week's theme being about Scott Adams' passing, and getting to an episode of a show where we lose one of the main characters.

Tonight's Pony Portion is clustered mostly around music from Blackened Blue and BGM, Pony Degeneracy. I tried to shuffle things around and add some other videos or comic dubs to keep some variety in the pacing of things.

The capstone of this first portion will be the Pony Music Video “Paralyzed” by MelodyBrony, followed by BGM's cover of “Soldiers of the Night”, a beloved classic.

It's a little long, but YouTube's been pretty shit lately, and especially in the last week and a bit. I'm not sure why, and would like to have a chat with someone about that to see how I can improve things on the back end.

Tonight's theming includes a number of animations from “Unimaginable Consequences”, who seems to use an art style with distinctively large eyes. Many of the music selections come from “eksoka Music” on YouTube, but many had to be pruned for time reasons. They will feature in bits and odds and ends on a later date.

Farscape's episode is going to be a spooky one that you probably won't see coming.

This actually works out rather well then, because I was leaning towards doing either Robin or Lodoss first. It will most likely be one of those two being shown tonight, unless anyone wants to make a passionate case for their preference.

Also, tonight is sadly the last episode of Fawlty Towers, we'll have something new in that time slot for next week.

Also also, we're starting Chapter 5 of G% tonight, which is the second to last chapter. I think there are six episodes in Ch 5 and four in Ch 6, so we should be wrapping up G% sometime around mid-April. Once that's finished I think G3 is the only pony gen we haven't watched yet. So I guess when we finish that up we can revisit the pony block and decide what to show next; whether we want to do any rewatches of old gens, just show G4 episodes in perpetuity forever, or maybe look at some other hoers-related content, like Wild Manes or one of those. Anyway that will be a good distance into the future so we don't need to worry about it just yet.

This week is feeling theatrical to me, I think.

Tons of recent content still fills the first portion of the /MLPOL/ Watch Party, with highlights of more quality content than I can properly organize.

ElectroKaplosion has a release trailer for his MareQuest game on steam, so we'll see what that's about. There's a new PMV with the title “Never Say Die” by LUMO_Xu and 5 others, MelodyBrony and 2 others collaborated to make an animation titled “Derpy All Over”, and BGM has gifted us with a new 15 minute Pony Thread Simulator, this time, it's the XI.26th edition. How these are titled, I'm honestly not keeping track of. Too many authors, and the production of them must be a magnificently chaotic mess that gets very carefully organized. These animated elements were all released earlier today, making them super recent.

Those highlights are a capstone after still more musical productions with original cover art as well as comic dubs and video essays.

Farscape this week continues onwards. Last week's episode had that “body-doubling” element. Chiana and D'Argo both saw their doubles get brain drained and killed, but John's double managed to escape and come back in the confusion. Now they... don't really know what to do in this situation. The train of bad luck in a weird and often hostile environment continues.

With so much happening, being made and released, and the ongoing development in Farscape so far, I think tonight's theme should be “Wide Eyes”, as in characters with their eyes wide open, taking in the environment.

Ideally, yes, along with automatic file backup, possibly with resizing to compensate for storage limitations. I can dick around a bit with yt_dlp and command line arguments, but I do run in to issues somewhat often that overwhelm what I'm able to figure out before running out of "go juice" and losing the ability to make progress. I fade out when I have to mess with things like logins and cookie editing/retrieval.

The other issue with that is the only way I can think to do that is manually, and with a ton of clicking. I don't have anywhere near the bandwidth to handle that now, and especially to maintain it on an ongoing basis.

I want to mass export, mass process, and then have some kind of interim tool to maintain a growing weekly database.

I dunno how to set that all up. I'd love to, though. I'm feeling proud enough of keeping the folders I use for the weekly image selections. Not all of them, but after a certain point.

Tonight's Farscape episode is Green-Eyed Monster. The doubled dude duo has been separated, and so has the rest of the crew. Several in Moya, several in Talyn. In true Farscape fashion, they have a problem. You know how in Star Wars movies, there's a big worm monster that lives in an asteroid and might eat possible daredevil spaceships, and the heroes are always lucky enough to just barely escape? Farscape fuckers are not that lucky. I recall one reviewer describing it like they rolled all the 1's out of their dice so they can pull off some really incredible thing once in a while. This is one of their crappy days.

Keepin' things rolling along nice, we're going to start with a documentary by Ahoy. He has a fantastic presentation style and is systematic. He's going to be telling us about a truly revolting time of decline in the era of Gaming that I'm sure we can all remember... Get ready to watch Ahoy's Documentary “When Video Games were Brown.”. If there's an overall narrative, I expect it to be a story that involves tragedy. Colour is coming back to gaming, and he'll probably talk about it.

BGM graces us with two songs for the playlist this week, 2026 versions of “Problem Pony” and “Chill Out”. A channel titled “sitara sketches sometimes” has a video of mlp Characters Impersonating Each Other, which suggests a fun set of clips. An animated PMV from Twital eight months ago, titled “My Life is like a VIDEO GAME” is some high effort content I'm looking forward to seeing. Scribbler Productions gives another comic dub, always welcome, and we have an unusual pony capstone this week.

This week, there's an animated music video advertising an upcoming Pony Convention On A Cruise Ship, with tickets available for another six or so days. They depart from Florida and go to... the Bahamas, I think. It's wild that this is happening, and for a nice internet fandom. Here's to Pony Culture and all it's allowed us to put together.

Before Farscape, I popped in an AI music video from a channel that gives what sounds like an Alternative Rock song to Data, and called it “Tin Man”. The AI Generated clips are live-action style, and show the actors dressed in what feels like a period-appropriate expression of music culture at the time. I figure if we're watching Farscape, we might as well continue with some of the theming.

About Farscape: We're following the Talyn Adventures storyline. He's still hurt from escaping the space worm, I guess, so we gotta find some magic plants. It's episodes like this that sound like they're formatted after either a scripted videogame or other very trope-heavy writing genre. I love how much of a creative twist they put in to the framing and writing.

The Blues Bronies (4everfreebrony, Mongo Cross, Luna Jax, and BlueBrony) released Mail Mare, a Derpy song, just an hour ago. I don't know how much hotter off the presses we can get than that. Earlier-this-day releases also include a Skyshard remix of Violin Melody's song “Silly Filly”, using OpenPony 3d assets to make a PMV. Magpiepony also published a video titles “MLP Trauma Candy Salad! [Animation Trend]”.

Recently published works include a Pinkie Pie video by Tridashie earlier today, “Revel in Carnage” by BGM, Pony Degeneracy, and BGM's “Queen of Ash”, both songs released in the last week.

Tonight's Farscape follows the crew on Talyn again. I have to say, given that they committed the RPG Adventuring sin of splitting the party, they're handling it very well. Both of the crews have an identical version of John, the main lead, and that's making the team dynamics weird. Of well, I'm sure nothing too terrible is going to happen to them this week.

Time is short, so I'll just say that We've got a lot of Ice Angel music in the list this week, cottonix's Rainbow Factory HD animation, and a teaser for the Farscape Episode.

This one's a great. It's told by a drunk and hungover John to Pilot. We're with the A crew on Moya this week. They're all being little shits on the spaceship, so they're forced to fuck off for a while to calm down. There is no reality I can see for them where that doesn't somehow go wrong. Last week's episode was just about the Talyn crew trying to keep flying in a straight line, and they got visited by some kind of malevolent star god trapping souls between the veil.

John's having a hard time learning how to relax.

Looking at that stream schedule, I have a hard time understanding how there could be drama. I'm sad to say that I already assume that you were in the wrong here, Ninjas. Because I have seen you before be a bit aggressive ig. And you often are the one starting things.

Tbh, I don't really get it. Like, you talk about fee-fees, but there are two things I feel I disagree with here.
First is that feelings don't matter. Like, I'm pretty sure that the pain nerves or whatever, are the same for physical and mental pain. Like, they are both pain, and like, if I cut my hand; then it's the nerves that signal to the head to give me pain. So, imo, the body/mind, can hurt itself in order for you to take action, sort thing. So I don't think being hurt mentally is less significant.
However, I understand, and this is the second point, that we still wanna preserve freedom of speech. So you should be able to say things regardless of how others react to it, which is fair. However, I just don't see why you have to do it in this context. This is stream people put on on their own for fun. I suppose that doesn't mean they should be able to censor you, even then, from criticism.
Ig, I just don't really feel like its all that important. Like, you aren't fighting for an ideological point here, you literally agree political with everyone here for the most part.
