/MLPOL/ Watch Party Part 4: We Endure/MLPOL/ Watch Party Part 4: We Endure
The horrors persist, but so do we.
Welcome, newfags and oldfags. This is a thread about a weekly get-together some of us like to do on Fridays.
Account registration is not required.
Starting at around 7:00pm EST (8:00pm Central Time), and continuing until the end of the night.
Cytube is the current site hosting the Watch Parties, and the normal room is
https://cytu.be/r/FlappyPterodactyl . This may be subject to change, so double check the announcement post in the thread.
These nights consist of going to a website with a video player and a chatroom and having a good time. The format we're using lately starts with the first hour being a series of pony animations and music. This is followed with a couple episodes of a show, then we switch over to a livestream portion for a brief intermission, followed by a series of classic shorts, followed by a movie, followed by two episodes of another show, followed by MLP episodes, then the room is usually pretty open to whatever.
The mood of the nights is “Good Vibes”, and we tend to like more classic content compared to a lot of what's on offer these days.
Feel free to swing by at some point after people filter in.

Hello everyone, I'm not dead.
>>400924I read one of your fics years ago I think.
I hope the weather is making people think more about being cozy. Being by a fire. Warm, even though you're chilled.
Pony content so far has music of various vibes, a voiced comic and an animation left over from the Halloween content that didn't get through.
Then we've got a video essay talking about Cybersix, a show we watched a while ago.
This week's Farscape episode looks like it has a simple enough premise, and will be a bit less mind-fuck-y than last week's.

This week rolls along! Pony Theme of the week is Cozy Glow and Fire!
https://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchParty>>400924That's a relief. I was starting to worry something happened.
Thanks for checking in.
Evening again all, here is tonight's movie program:
Merrie Melodies: Odor-able Kitty
Fawlty Towers: Hotel Inspectors
Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986)
Halloween in November continues.
Ponies:
G$: S4e09 - Pinkie Apple Pie
G%: Tell Your Tale eps 53-56
Gankutsuo: The Count of Monte Cristo:
Act 21: The Golden Boy's True Identity
Act 22: Counterattack
Also, next week will be the conclusion of Gankutsuo, if anyone has any requests for an anime or a type of anime feel free to make a post, otherwise I will just choose another one from my collection.
>>400930>if anyone has any requests for an anime or a type of anime feel free to make a postArakawa Under The Bridge is a good surreal comedy not too dependent on needing to be wapanese to understand. Any similar comedy in general would be good because not missing a stream or two isn't going to make someone lose track of the story.
>>400930>if anyone has any requests for an anime or a type of anime feel free to make a postTotoro perhaps next week?
I'm afraid I have to spend some time working on a technical issue between myself and CyTube. The playlist is ready to go when that happens.
>>401078Tech issue resolved. Getting things together.
>>400936>Movie room open. The room is empty. All poners are at
https://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchParty Oops. Sorry for the tardiness and tardedness both. That said, we roll on!
Thanksgiving in the US. Theme of the week!
There's A vTuber who uploaded a Thanksgiving video of herself reacting to a Thanksgiving video she made of MLP figures, so I figure we'll get a snapshot of that little saga.
Our MLP Feature in the prestream wilh be a video essay from a month ago about looking at how deadly the M6 are.
The Farscape episode of the week, The Ugly Truth, involves multiple people each telling their own not-entirely-accurate account of a situation. This is Farscape doing this, so I'm looking forward to it. They always do things well.

I'm thankful that the tech issue was resolved.

Hello all, completely forgot what day it was. Schedule is being put together, should be up momentarily
Here is tonight's somewhat-rushed but still complete program:
Merrie Melodies: Herr Meets Hare
Fawlty Towers: The Builders
Alice, Sweet Alice (1973)
Last night of Halloween in November before Halloween in December begins I think this is the second to last movie on Anon's list that we haven't watched yet.
Poiners:
G4: S4e10 - Rainbow Dash Fucks Bitches and Gets Paid
G%: Make Your Mark Ch 4 ep 4: Total Nigger Death
Animoo (conclusion of Monte Cristo):
Act 23: Edmond Dantes
Act 24: At the Shore
"Dead Snow" is a good movie if you wish to keep hybridizing Hearthswarming and Nightmare Night. It's fashthetic.
Friends, Friday the Fifth is upon us once again! We will feast on files including music from earlier today all the way to six years ago, watch an early access release trailer for a PC remake of Timesplitters 2 (TimeSplitters Rewind) to check that out, and finish off with one of StormXF3's newest MLP In Real Life animation. It's from one month ago, while the Timesplitters Rewind Release Trailer for the Early Access is from twelve days ago.
Tonight's Farscape episode is going to be a mindscrew. I look forward to what they come up with with.

FarscapeSeason 2 Episode 18 -
A Clockwork NebariA Nebari group infiltrates the Moya in attempts to use a drug to wipe everyone's mind clean. Rygel, Pilot, and Crichton are able to resist the effects and work together to rid the Moya of the intruders. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight's pony theme is “Winter”, and I spent far too long collecting the images this time.
https://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchParty>>401178We are currently live and running. I forgot to mention that part.
>>401178>>401179Thanks.
Hopping in in about eight minutes more or less.
Movie schedule will be up in just a moment.
Here is tonight's program:
Merrie Melodies: Draftee Daffy
Fawlty Towers: The Germans
Don't Look Now (1973)
Last installment on our list of Halloween films. This one also apparently inspired the one we watched last week.
Ponies:
G$: S4e11 - Three's a Crowd
G%: Tell Your Tale eps 57-60
Anime:
Someone in the thread suggested Arakawa Under the Bridge, but I haven't finished legally purchasing it yet, so we will start it next week. In the meantime, I have a short two-episode OVA we can watch tonight. You will have to tune in to find out what it is.
While I have everyone's attention, I'd actually like to get some input on the anime segment. Are we enjoying it so far? Do people like my selections, or would it be better if I took suggestions from the room? Any preferences about subbed vs. dubbed? Or should we just jettison the weeb stuff entirely and go back to all-ponies, or show western cartoons instead? If anyone has any opinions, feel free to weigh in.
>>401184I like the anime segment. I like dubs because I can step away if I need to and still know what's going on. Maybe switching between western cartoons and anime could keep things fresh, but I'm also fine with keeping it all anime.
>>401184The anime portion can be comfy and lulzy. Ghost Stories, Boku No Pico, and the Azumanga dub were all fun to watch together. Problems come up when a long, story-based animu are shown. If someone doesn't like it at first they won't stick around for the rest of its showing, or someone who likes it might be sent to the wageslave dungeon or be summoned by Luna early and end up behind in the story. I was issued an I.Q score that was above my national and racial average so I am very likely to be correct on this matter.
>>401185This is basically my feeling as well, I just wanted to check in and see if people are happy with the stream, and if I'm picking shows that we're all enjoying. As far as the language choice goes I personally prefer to watch dubbed anime when possible, but if others feel strongly about it I don't mind switching it up. It sounds like you enjoy the dubs and no one else has sounded off on it, so I guess until I hear otherwise I will keep showing anime in English for now.
That said, the next anime will be Arakawa Under the Bridge, which was requested by Canada flag, and the subbed Jap version is all I was able to find. So, for the next six weeks we will all need to put on our weeb hats and learn to read subtitles.
>>401198I can understand the frustration here. The problem is that the vast majority of anime shows are long stories, so we would have limited options as to what could be shown if we did it this way. However, I can confirm that Arakawa Under the Bridge will be the next anime, which I believe was your suggestion.
>someone who likes it might be sent to the wageslave dungeon or be summoned by Luna early and end up behind in the storyJust out of curiosity, would it help with this problem if I were to shuffle some of the time slots around? Where I live the stream generally wraps up between 10 or 11 pm, which is perfect for an evening movie stream, but I understand that for people on the other side of the continent that's like 1-2 am
I'm not sure how many Eurofags we have watching this stream, but I'm assuming that on a board with majority American flags these anons are probably used to dealing with US time zones.
One of the ideas I've been toying with is swapping the positions of the anime and pony segments, running anime first and then the MLP episodes. I'm assuming most people on this board have seen every G4 episode multiple times and aren't concerned about missing anything, and G5 is the kind of story you can dip in and out of without really missing that much. Maybe it would make more sense to show the story-focused thing an hour earlier, when everyone is still awake and paying attention, and then run the pony episodes when everyone is starting to nod off? Some other options would be to do pony-anime-anime-pony, or maybe pony-anime-pony-anime, or anime-pony-anime-pony, or any other possible combination.
If anyone has any thoughts on this please feel free to weigh in. I'm just brainstorming here.
>>401127I remember showing Dead Snow last November, but I think there's actually two movies in that series, and it might have been the second one I showed. In any case, I can show whichever one didn't get shown last year, probably not this week but next week for certain.
>>4013983-4AM is usually when I fall asleep on the weekend, so it's fine for me if that's any consolation.
Playlist is under construction.
>>401403The bong is getting drunk whilst waiting.

No, you're going to get banned again for the same reason you've been banned the last 7000 times: because you can't stop being an obnoxious, abrasive, disruptive sperg who goes out of his way to ruin everyone else's fun for reasons that only make sense to you. It didn't have to be this way, but this is the path you've chosen. believe it or not, I was actually contemplating giving you one last chance this week and letting you back in the chat if you could behave yourself, but as of this post I'm afraid that ship has sailed. Enjoy your exile.
Hello and welcome again, frens! Tonight, we are one more week into December, and one week closer to Christmas / Hearth's Warming. I hope you've had time to adjust to however cold it gets in your area, or that the weather for any southern hemisphere frens is very comfortable. For those in a cold area: Remember your base layer, and then cover yourself from the air and wind. Prioritize your core and your legs.
For those who get to mess around with the snow, have you spent some time with good snowball-quality snow yet? Go ahead to a park or field in boots (insulated rubber boots. Multiple layers of socks and a toe warmer if not), and toss a few snowballs at a tree if you can.
A three-parter adventure begins for us this week in Farscape. It is extremely important to the plot, and is incredibly cool. “The odds are against them” seems very inadequate to describe what they're starting with, and what they're trying to do. They have really terrible luck in a lot of ways.

FarscapeSeason 2 Episode 19 -
Liars, Guns and Money Part 1: A Not So Simple PlanThe crew aboard the Moya scramble to figure out how to save Jothee, D'argo's son before he is sold at a slave auction with no money. Just as the crew is on their last straw with Zhaan trying to convince them she's been speaking to Stark, his image appears. The crew swiftly moves to save him, and reassures D'Argo he has a plan to save Jothee.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tonight's theme is Pixel Art. Let's go!
https://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyhttps://cytu.be/r/MLPOL-WatchPartyEvening gentlemen, here is tonight's stream:
Merrie Melodies: Hare Trigger
Fawlty Towers: Wedding Party
Die Hard (1988)
We've shown it before, as recently as last year I think, but it's still a fun Christmas movie. Yippee-ky-yay, motherfucker.
Ponies:
G4: S4e12 - Pinkie Pride
G5: Make Your Mark Ch. 4 ep. 5 - The Manesquerade Ball
Arakawa Under The Bridge (new anime starts tonight):
1 Bridge
2 Bridge
red bridge, blue bridge
>>401408When I was a kid, I discovered Fawlty Towers at my grandparents house. I loved that show.
>>401408My dad, really liked, or at least I saw Die Hard with him. I kinda grew up with that movie, so I have some nostalgia about it.
>>401408Die Hard is not a christmas movie
>>401412You question the word of John Elway!?
>>401398>One of the ideas I've been toying with is swapping the positions of the anime and pony segments,That makes sense. With all respect to G5, it would mean I don't have to sit through G5 to see kawaii anime girls. For a greatlakefag an earlier start time would actually make it harder to do important Friday night shit like gaming and donut eating before the stream started. Sometimes I can't watch the anime segment because by the end I'm just too plum tuckered out. G4-アニメ-アニメ-G5 is fine too. The Perfect Gift as a double-lengther could replace the G5 episode to. Fuck G5
I'm fine with dubs, as long as it's not some Crunchyroll tier libshit that doesn't apply to the original script. Joke fandubs are good too.
>>401541Thanks for the input. I'm thinking tonight as an experiment I'm going to try screening the anime first, then pony, with G5 being shown last, as that's the schedule that makes the most sense to me. We'll see how people like it, if there's any strenuous objection I can retool it.
>Fuck G5To be perfectly honest I'm finding it pretty mid so far, it's not as terrible as /mlp/ made me expect, but it's not really grabbing me either. I feel like we ought to at least finish it just so we can all say we've seen it, but once that's over and done with I'm okay with putting it back into cold storage and never speaking of it again. G3 will probably be next since I think that's the only MLP gen we haven't watched. In any case, I think having the G5 episode as the last thing makes the most sense, that way people can duck out early if they want, or nod off in bed to something that doesn't require a yuge amount of brainpower.
>I'm fine with dubs, as long as it's not some Crunchyroll tier libshit that doesn't apply to the original script. With the exception of Arakawa, which we just started, I think all of the anime series we've watched so far were ripped directly from DVDs I own. Most of them are shows I bought eons ago, where the dubs would predate the existence of Crunchyroll. They were all done by ADV films and Geneon and whoever, and I don't think there was any serious monkeying with the scripts that I'm aware of, apart from the usual localizing dialects and slang and whatnot.
>The Best Gift EverThat might actually be a good one for next week.
No word from Flappy yet, but I'm currently getting my end of the stream set up. I should have a schedule posted momentarily.
The last Friday Watch Party before Christmas / Hearth's Warming! We'll be stuck on Christmas content for a while, so we should look at another watch party to help clear the queue. I don't know if I can promise anything for closer to Christmas, but there'll be plenty of other stuff happening around CyTube to tune in to if nothing else.
The pony content is music heavy, and includes three songs from Blackened Blue.
The Farscape episode tonight continues our three parter series where our luckless yet daring heroes / escaped prisoners are robbing a bank to try to find D'Argo's son. They robbed the bank after a difficult adventure, but it turns out the stuff they robbed is actually a bunch of space beetles that have woken up and are causing problems. That could probably have gone better.
A new scary blue bug alien chick is front and center in this storyline. She's in charge of the criminal super-bank, and is on screen torturing people. Scorpius, however, is here in the flesh, and he's scarier than the blue bug alien chick.

FarscapeSeason 2 Episode 20 -
Liars, Guns and Money Part 2: A Not So Simple PlanCrichton and his friends steal some treasure in order to facilitate the release of D'Argo's son. Crichton enlists the help of some aliens they've encountered to intercept the slave trader.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If we don't meet again until Boxing Day, I hope you all have a great Christmas!
Tonight's Pony Theme is Christmas! We are open and running.
