URGENT NEWS FROM /QA/: ATLAS REPORTEDLY BEEN GONE FROM STAFF FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, STAFF RULE 2 IRREVERSIBLY BREACHED, POLICY PAGE YEARS OUT OF DATE (unsurprisingly).
See the first two threads on /qa/ for more details, but the general idea will still be posted here.
>>>/qa/

>Thread goes up asking about transparency, goes unanswered for 4 days
>Lotus eventually tells us that Pupperwolff is now the site owner, with Atlas supposedly stepping down more than a year ago
>Lotus then tries to use a (deleted) archive thread to say that the community was informed, then backpedals several times during explanation
>All users present currently enraged by this knowledge
>Lotus tries to defend these actions under the excuse of "[not wishing] to start unnecessary drama"
>Drama now exploding on /qa/, and all of you deserve to know as well if you don't regularly check there
>Some more suspicious users begin trying to defend the actions of Lotus and other staff because muh OPSEC, others blame more occult practices for this lapse
>The vast majority though seem to agree that this shit shouldn't have happened to begin with and want change
Form your own opinions as you please by reading through the threads, this is merely a very brief summary of what has transpired there. Please don't take my word as absolute truth either, as I'm just another anon like the rest of you. Feel free to further discuss ways on how this all can be rectified or express opinions about this matter here, but the more appropriate place would be on the /qa/ thread dedicated to this matter.

I quite frankly haven't felt this furious since the orginal board froze back in 2017. I am very much peeved.
There is no fucking excuse to keep the community in the dark about a change in site ownership. They're supposed to tell us about this kind of thing; that's part of what makes /mlpol/ great. I could have accepted it if Atlas wanted to pass the torch, but keeping it secret since last year is just beyond the pale.

Eh, rule 10 is important. No sage is complete without horse porn.
All the rules are important though (although the "no generals" rule has been discreetly lifted to nobody's protest), particularly the one concerning staff transparency and community input.
Anybody else feel like this has been creeping up on us for years? I didn't bother to mention it until now, but that was when I believed that the site ownership wouldn't change without any fucking notice.

I understand the addition of the horsepussy to the sage, the immediate sage without any sort of actual contribution beyond quoting me is what makes me think that that guy is one of the (((opsec))) faggots from the /qa/ threads. As for this creeping up on us, I do understand where you're coming from; I simply decided to think optimistically (IE no news is good news). Once again though, being optimistic bites me in the ass.

We didn't need (((opsec))) when we were being raided by /jp/sies, /sp/, leftypolacks, or anyone else, and we certainly don't need it now.

Just finding out about this now. I am alright with Atlas stepping down, but I also think there should've been more of an effort made by site staff to communicate this to users. I would be satisfied if they just apologized for the lack of clarity and promised to be more transparent in the future.

Good to know you are not staff material and a danger to the OpSec of this site.

So?

Who has the inclination to search for mlpol on the internet? Just like any game dev or band that makes up a new word as their own name, discoverability by people who aren't specifically looking for this collection of letters is going to be almost impossible. It's not perfect protection, but it's something significant.

I agree with you that this event [ >>304420 ] is significant, and needs to be addressed by the site staff, but I have a bit more reading to do on the subject before I really start calling for or joining any push for some sort of specific action.

I feel like the fact that rules #1 and #1 were deleted from the policy page implies that the staff are no longer concerned about /mlpol/ being "discovered".
Also, we had those fishing threads back in the day when we were desperate for fresh blood.
Really, the concept of /mlpol/ is that it's supposed to be self-insulated. Horse porn scares away redditards; fringe politics scares away SJWs and tumblerfags. All in all, /mlpol/ is protected by a combination of its own obscene antics and the tenacity of its userbase.
>>305203
>I have a bit more reading to do on the subject
There are two threads on /qa/ that discussed the topics.

do you even understand what kind of effect sage has? Why are you complaining about it like some newfag? You should congratulate him for accomplishing nothing by saging five seconds after thread creation.

some comments about the actual topic at hand:
- I was there when rule2 was dropped. Didn't have my vote but can't say it was done slyly or forced.
- A year or two ago something like pic related was floating around on this board. Tried to recreate it from memory.
- There's been screenshots of an mlpol.net admin/mod discord. I never liked this idea because back then it already showed a bunch of in-jokes not present in the board's culture. It's a subcommunity, but one with power over the host... What's that strange sense of sudden familiarity?

That was an April Fools gag that staff played on the site for April 1st. The thread made it into /go/ before the archive process was updated.
I personally larped as Zald, ostensibly having been made a jannie
There are two discords that staff primarily operate in; the staff exclusive discord where staff discusses internal matters, and admission is by invite only. The other was intended as a open discord that anyone can join. However, that discord has never been used for it's intended purpose by users OR staff, and has instead been appropriated purely for meme sake. For this reason, it is commonly referred to as "the fishfucking discord".

Why are you complaining about a post from last week?
>A year or two ago something like pic related was floating around on this board. Tried to recreate it from memory.
That was Anon27's old discord pfp. There was some drama that revolved around him making a suggestion to move the sight in a slightly different direction, which was pretty overblown, imo, in part due to another admin having been demoted at the time.

I've had this same creeping feeling for about 3.5-4 years, tbh...

in case you haven't realized, no website like this avoids scruitiny from them. I wouldnt be surprised if atlas has several guns pointed at his family members heads and lotus was the shabbos goy. Theres no way to start a chan that gets shit done without a security detail I'm afraid.

Oy Vey! I've been discovered! It's like adduh shoah!

But more seriously, we didn't want Atlas to leave and asked him to stay. It was entirely his decision to officially step away from the site, and his initiative. I haven't heard from him at all in a couple months now, and I really hope he's doing well.

Anyways, there's more than one thread on /qa/ that goes into more detail on the subject if you are interested, and has replies by other members of staff.

I'll just leave this here. From the policy page
>No staff member shall use the information he obtains in his position on staff for personal gain, lulz, or to harass/humiliate a user or other staff members
>The information of the users is sacred and shall not be used outside of needs by administration, we don't even have access to IP addresses from the users, we keep no logs, not even error logs, outside of what the website provides us directly.
>Using information for any purpose, including selling to others, data mining for malicious purposes, or for any reason are grounds for immediate removal from staff position, permanent banning from the site, and if the offense is serious enough, main staff will cooperate with law enforcement
