Although, the federal category of "whites" includes Hispanics (making the percent distribution of "Murder and nonnegligent manslaughter" 44.7%), when excluding Hispanics, the number is closer to 24.7%. The same can be told from total crime percent distribution being 69.6% of "whites", but again when excluding Hispanics, it comes down to 51.2% of total crime. America is like what? 50-65% white (most concentrations of non-whites being in border states*), so that's pretty low for about half of the population.

Makes sense. There is also the fact that more whites live in rural and suburban areas. Crime is less there than in urban areas. If someone robs you in a rural community, you tend to know who did it.
