On a separate note, I thought of a cool idea for a character, gameplay-wise: a Wizard who served as a member of the Royal Canterlot Research Institute, and who worked alongside White Light (Silver's daughter) and specialized in Transmutation. He was researching and experimenting with trying to create super soldiers for the Equestrian Army, when a freak accident caused the spell he was working with to backfire, hitting him with a unique Reduce/Enlarge curse that nopony has been able to dispel. It causes him to, at random intervals (2d12 hours), instantaneously either grow or shrink to a different size, as if he was affected by either a Reduce Person or an Enlarge Person spell. Unlike either spell, when he changes, he can skip straight to the target size. He still can't grow larger than the enclosure he's residing in, however.
Or find new players. I don't think it will come to that, personally.

That's just borrowed over from the Exlarge Person spell. After all, it would be a little too inconvenient if he was crushed to death every time he grew too large for the room he's in. He could make a Strength check to burst through the room he's in and grow even larger, though.

Essentially, you have mitigated half of the curse with a simple cube layer thick enough and magically infused to be lightweight for good measure. When you become smaller, the cube acts as a shelter that will keep you safe from most insects unless a hole for a leg directly lands on a wasp or something.
