I have patiently played this game with a difficult class to play - Paladin - and only have the melee bonuses I have because this class gives so few other advantages, like your rogue's skill set or a cleric's spells.

Jesus, Vamp Barry rolled a 1 on his saving throw against sneak attack. Let's just assume he got merc'd before he had a chance to raise an alarm.
For the record, sneak attacks don't require a die roll, they require the person on the receiving end to reflex save. And he ebin failed. Assuming Tracy didn't kill him, Trump sure as hell did, and vamp-barry is now a puddle-vampire as well, Thez keeping the bottle handy.

Considering the available options, the party bypassed a whole lot of crawling and fighting, not to mention back-tracking and shit. It wasn't a perfect choice, but it was damn near.
