The SSRS Kostroma lies idle in the southeastern bay of Mended Horn Island. Only the front portion, the two forward masts and the front of the superstructure that sits in the center of the freighter's hull, is illuminated by a pair of dim lights that glow orange-red, a sure sign that the boilers of the Kostroma are dying, and the lights will soon go off. The remainder of the ship's funnel, and the mast behind the superstructure are visible only in silhouette. The gibbous moon and starry night that would have provided a clear backdrop to the black hulk of the Kostroma have been smothered by the overcast skies and light rain.
A sound comes, not from the Kostroma, and indeed, not from anywhere at all. A low, vaguely tinnitus-like sound that drains out the sound of silence. It calls to you. It calls to everyone.
"Come to the Kostroma, good soldier. Join us here. Come."

>>194949Not make it? He can still move 80 ft. in a run move. And if the place is actually littered with junk, he could just fly to the other end. Are you really sure? Where are Silver and Posey relative to each other? If he can't reach the exit itself, he will position himself a little bit in front of Posey, maybe to her right or left depending on layout.
>>194950Those are a thing?
>>194952Well, it would get him close to the door. Perhaps 10 feet or even less. Only Silver and maybe the rifle pony Silver pushed could be in the way
>>194952Merciful
>The weapon deals an extra 1d6 points of damage, and all damage it deals is nonlethal damage. On command, the weapon suppresses this ability until commanded to resume it. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the merciful effect upon their ammunition.Pretty mid for a +1 enhancement, but given the tactics you prefer it's pretty essentia.
Okay, I overestimated the size of the cargo hold. Yeah, Cavaliere could probably get to the door or close enough.
>>194953>Perhaps 10 feet or even lessThat's close enough to make attacks of opportunity on creatures trying to leave.
>>194955I'm looking through flight (
https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD:Fly) and I'm not sure what Cavaliere's flight speed would be, or what is meant exactly by minimum speed. Is it movement speed? If so, he should be able to get to the other side with 80 ft. of movement, or if it's less he should still be able to make it due to it being a direct line. The worry would be more if it's
too small to safely do so, but he should be fine. He is a poor flier so let's approach this step by step:
Takeoff and ascent: half speed, so 10 ft. intervals. To be out of range of melee attacks he ascends to 10 ft. He does so at a 45 degree angle, which takes two movement steps and moves him forward 10 ft.
Level flight: minimum forward speed is 10 ft., regular is 20 ft. He must move at least 10 ft. between up and down. This is one movement turn.
Descent: to land, he descends 10 ft. at a 45 degree angle, which also moves him forward 10 ft. This fits within one movement turn, concluding his run turn.
From what I gather the distance he can travel is between 40 and 50 ft. Is this possible within the confines of the hold?
>>194956I mean, he can just run past Silver
The ceiling isn't exceptionally high, maybe 20 feet, but that's probably enough
I will say that if he comes within the rifle pony's space that would provoke an attack of opportunity.... which he's already expended on Silver this turn so no, actually it would not
>>194957Oh, well if you insist, Cavaliere takes the boring option and sprints to the other side of the hold. If the withdrawing ponies want to make an escape they will have to brave his claws.
Sorry for wasting everypony's time. Still, it was fun to figure that out. Now I have a frame of reference. If he wasn't encumbered he could move much further which shows why weight is a big deal with this character.
>>194956....Has racial flight speed really not been resolved yet?
>>194959He's on a boat now
The rifle pony off to the left shoots at Cavaliere

That is... other than Ideal for Cavaliere
Kira's turn, then Silver's
>>194957Silver steps forward to the center pony trying to flee with his sword and returns the favor of the butt bash, bringing his sword's pommel right on down his noggin with quite a bit of force.

[1d20+13 = (7+13) = 20] >>194959I don't want griffons to be too powerful (not that flight is ever a weak ability) so making them poor fliers by default and have bipedal weight limits seems reasonable. We never decided on griffons having a charisma malus but I've gone without that so far and it would hurt Cavaliere substantially.
>>194960>>194961Perhaps I made the wrong choice. Cavaliere is now down to 3 HP.
The bullet hits him square in the torso and will certainly leave a scar. The griffon staggers, and seems close to falling over, but with supreme force of effort remains standing. Moreover, he throws a punch at the pony moving past him.
[1d20+4 = (12+4) = 16][1d6 = 2] >>194965Cavaliere hits hit, and does hurt him, judging by the stagger. But it isn't quite enough to keep him from getting through

Sorry. I got stuck at the gas station.

I'm guessing this is towards the rifle pony that just shot cavaliere? or would she attempt the one that got away?

>>194979Is there any cover nearby that may protect from the riflepony?
>>194980Yes. Random crates and similar
>>194981Alright. He limps behind a nearby crate, draws his gun, and fires once at the riflepony.

With that, the pony is downed
The center pony closes the door.
There are sounds of gunshots from behind
TAT TAT TAT
BANG BANG BANG
>>194981>>194982>>194978Kira calls out to the rest of the party, "Hey, can we get some restraints for this one?" as she points to the pony currently in her coils.
>>194984>>194985However, Kira is interrupted by the gunshots with an "eep!" as she ducks down behind the barrel instinctively for cover. Silver tries to see who is shooting and where at.
>>194986From the end of the room, it looks like Stained Sand, Rustling Pine, Blackheel and Mala, although the latter two are... less shooty. They seem focused on something high and in the Port-center of the room.
Kira does indeed find a barrel. It feels safer down there
>>194987Silver rushes forth into the fray to see what's going on, looking up towards the ceiling.
>>194988Smoke seems to dissipate by the ceiling
>>194988>>194989Stained Sand:
"There was something forming in that corner up there. Black and long, like what attacked me in the last hold."
Blackheel doesn't say anything, but he has a look of skepticism.
Mala has a look of "Everyone else was shooting in that direction, so I thought I would too."
Rustling Pine is hard to read, though more serious
>>194989>>194990Silver points up at that corner of the room. "Is there anything up there? Ventilation? Another room on other side?"
Coming close to the millennial post
>>194991Blackheel:
"The hull"
Based on sounds Silver would have heard, at least some of the bullets fired must have ricocheted.
>>194985"Get me some rope!" the Ranger shouts to the party.
>>194990"Good call. See any more hostiles?" he asks, unwilling to look over cover just now.
>>194993Posey levitates him a spool of rope
>>194993"No." Stained Sand calls out.
Blackheel comes into the room to look around, Rustling Pine following behind with his automatic rifle.
Mala looks over at the slain pony, but shuffles out of the room back to Cargo Hold 5.
>>194994>>194995Cavaliere takes the rope and hurries over to Kira. As he looks over the barrel, he asks,
"Are you alright?" She can smell blood.
He takes 10 to bind the pony's hooves. For reference Cavaliere has a +9 to this check from his skills and ability score.
>>194995Silver decides that whatever it is, it must have been scared away. He returns to the cargo hold, kneeling down next to the fallen pony. If his eyes are open, he closes them, and speaks to him, "Надеюсь, вы обретёте покой, подальше от этого ужасного места."
>>194996Kira looks to Cavaliere and smiles, though she has a look about her that the griffon might recognize: she's scared, and trying to hold it back. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just some bruising. How about you, are you okay? You smell hurt..."
>>194997The griffon grimaces stoically and holds a claw against his side.
"We'll have it looked at," he wheezes.
"What we're fighting is trying bolder plays to stop us, but he's still holding back his main force. We need to proceed cautiously."Once the enemy pony is secured, he looks for the creature that has their medical supplies.
>>194996The pony is soon enough tied up, and presumably Kira holds onto him until he is.
>>194997Assuming Silver is going to the one that Posey killed and not the one recently downed by Cavaliere:
His eyes are indeed open and milky white. If they focus on anything at all, it is far above the roof of the cargo hold, and beyond the clouds looming above.
Are any of the dead unicorns?
Asking for a friend.
